Those accolades don't really put into perspective of how good Gronk was though, the only reason he was just a 4x pro bowler/all pro was because of the countless injuries. Dude would have been a 10x all pro if it weren't for that.

Also would have had like 130 touchdowns with 15,000 yards or something along those lines. His body just wasn't built for longevity unfortunately, he took a beating. I personally think his body type was like a gift/curse. He was like an inflatable tube man, his body wasn't super sturdy and solid, he was always flailing his limbs around, which made it difficult for players to tackle him, but also made him prone to getting hurt.
@Chris-yr6io
@Chris-yr6io Жыл бұрын
@@greyk610 Sure his body was a bit fragile but you gotta mention the fact that he was so hard to tackle that defenders started hitting him dirty. Gronk was constantly getting his legs driven into by multiple 200+ lbs men running full force several times a game. That type of wear and tear would injure anyone.

I played tight end in college and he was the definition of the prototype every coach was looking for. Every aspect of his game was 5 star recruit. And his tenacity and toughness was underrated. The only thing that wasn’t what the coaches loved was that he was a diva for periods of his career. But it didn’t matter because he was so damn good. It’s rare to see a player dominate a position like that but he was so far and away the best tight end in history it wasn’t even close

The thing about Gronkowski is that he revolutionized the tight end position. Up until this point, you either had TE’s who could 1.) block or 2.) catch really well. Sometimes you’d get ones who could do both ‘good’. Gronkowski did both great. He was a beast of a lineman and a beast of a receiver. His hands were amazing and he was so hard to bring down. He also played a lot less snaps than Tony Gonzalez or Antonio Gates, so of course his stats won’t be as large as theirs. Easily one of (if not the best) TE of all time.
