Here are the best clips from early on in the season for Summer 2016. Hope you like it!
The song I found in an adandoned CD in my apartment block on my way to Gerroa last weekend and played it in the car...thought is was pretty catchy....looked up the band and they were from Holland in the early 80's so I thought it would be cool to use for the video!

This Looks surreal! Amazing. I‘ve Never sailed in such conditions. There doesn’t seem to be much wind, the combination of almost flat water and then perfect waves breaking far outside with a huge distance between them, this seems just out of a dream. Where I live for waves it needs strong winds, but you get choppy water and wave after wave chaos. Apart of this the images are very beautiful. The glittering white of the breaking waves in the distance seem like pearls in the sun…wow!

Hi Paul Besides the excellent video, great find with regards the soundtrack - I had completely forgotten about this Dutch band - - the track sounds very contemporary, similar to the recent Daft Punk stuff (with Nile Rodgers). PS: Focus, Shocking Blue, George Baker Selection, Golden Earring etc.

This is a fantastic video. Your relationship between audio and visual is simply impeccable. As a (very) amateur video editor myself (mainly of me and my mates snowboarding using imovie), I appreciate the time and tedious nature it takes to get it to marry together. paul van bellen, seems like really dutch, I am from;belgium and this is really the best movie I've ever seen in my life. The music is perfect with this action, been windsurfing for nearly 25 years manly in waves and now kitesurfing in waves since 18 years spending the summer in WA and 3 months in fuerte, with side trips to mauritius, sumbawa, barbados, etc. Been watching since last novembre but no north-NNE winds and waves for Gerroa. One of my friends stayed there for 3 monts windsurfing in 1987 keep up the good work. Ja je drone filmpje is werkelijk het van het, aan alle vrienden dat ik dit toonde was er enkel een vorm van extase, nogmaals top en ik hoop dat er volgende zomer een paar dagen zijn met die kondities dan kom ik van Perth naar Gerroa, greets, Pat

Yeah Peter, there's aways better and better stuff coming out but the most important thing is to get the good conditions, sailors & footage, plus I'm honing my skills on the P4 and might update in a year or 2.

Funny thing is we went back to Gerroa last week and she ran into her friend there who was a really good surfer. She decided that if her friend could catch these wavs she could. She still thinks its to scary to surf at Coogee and Bondi though.

Hi Paul. Great Footage. Best drone footage I've seen of windsurfing. Do you do the drone footage professionally or are you an amateur. What sought of drone are you using to take the footage? Have not seen much drone footage taken of windsurfing - probably due to the fact you need 20knots ++ wind - would of thought it almost impossible given drones don't go that fast. Out of curiosity what mode are you flying in, Loiter, stabilize or manual mode? You flying with a couple of people? One controlling the drone one controlling the camera gimbal? Haven't heard of Gerroa living in VIC. Looks magical. How often do you get conditions like that 20 knots of wind cross-shore, perfectly clean 5ft swell. looks like waves break nice and far out .

I use it in max 20-25 and it works pretty good...just be careful flying it downwind in those conditions...it moves slowly upwind

It's a small town with limited job opportunities.... It only gets good a handful of times a year if you're lucky. Western Australia is much more consistent.

How much wind was there? Would this be doable with a dji mavic you think?

the wind in the video was 15-25kts.... I think Mavic can do it but never owned one. On paper I'd say yes no worries. I won't take P4 above about 25 to be safe.

P4 can easily fly in 35 knots. Done so many times. You just need to take off from somewhere that's shaded from the wind and "catch" it when landing. Anything over 35 knots and you might see some drifting. Don't know if the Magic could do it. Don't have one and haven't seen any flying yet. Yes, Inspire 2 has more motor power but it also has a much bigger surface area the wind can catch. Also you definitely have to find a shaded spot for that one to both launch and land with plenty of space down wind.

Are you sure it's a true 35 knots Thomas... according to the tech specs the P4 can fly 37 knots....therefore with 35 knots of true wind you would leave a margin of 2 knots to fly upwind??

Been there Paul. San Diego....9.0's on specialized flat boards to plane. Couldn't do it. Took up sailboat racing and surfing. However, after kite boarding came around...lots of possibilities in lighter air.
