Super helpful guys! Liked and subscribed. A few ideas for future comparison videos. I noticed some of the mics had a hotter signal, which is definitely good to know, but it'd be good to have a section where you try to match the volume in post. Sometimes louder sounds better to the ear, so matching the volume would allow a more objective comparison. Also, it'd be helpful to hear the different mics recording the same subject at the same time. Then you know what you're hearing is the mic, not a change in environment.

I have one and it is very clean. In this video it was hissy. Maybe their mic's firmware had not been updated when shooting this video.. or they messed up the gain somewhere

The pro plus sounded the best to me personally. Less background noise. Easier to clean up in post. I have a small mic already that works pretty good and comes with a dead cat. I forget what it’s called. The bybom1 or something like that? Also have that cheap $25 shotgun mic but I forget what it’s called too 😂 I have the worst memory

great video. It may sound odd, but I think what we also need is a comparison of built-in mics. Not to say that on- camera options are not generally more important, they are. But it could be there is actually a large range of quality differences with built in mics, and maybe some of those, maybe, rival some on camera mics. That maybe not be so silly. It seems there may be a few nice sounding cameras. Idk how much this has been tested and reviewed, still looking for it.

If you end up with the Rode, learn how to EQ. Because it can be downright awful trying to get it to sound normal. It's the Bose of microphones.

RODE Video Mic NTG camera self noise evident - had to give back A Rode Ntg2 because of this issue even though I was using a preamp, Rode VIdeo Mic PRo seemed to alleviate that problem but it sounds off, it seems to pick up too much background noise. Deity V D3 Pro has electric EMF noise in the background which I can hear even while you're speaking -- WHY IS IT SO HARD TO FIND A GOOD WORKING MICROPHONE! Honestly the Joby Wavo and Deity V Mic D3 and Shure Vp83 seem the best.

Deity mics pic up a lot more sound and it sounds like in this video that they haven't bothered to balance the gain to make up for it. You can hear immediately that the moment they switch from the D3s the sound levels drop significantly along with all the background noise because of it.
