It was a bold move and they could have only gained with it. The chief strategist probably saw that they would not have rolled into the points if it sayed dry. And seeing the heavy showers just after the race, the gamble could well possible placed him into the top 5 if others gambed to stay out a turn too long... so it was the wisest choice if we are honest.

AlSO, ignore that Mercedes's orders was near the end of the race in unstable weather conditions, so letting them fight could easily result in losing 43 guarranteed points, so Mercedes's order to Valtteri was completely right and justifiable.

The team gave the order not Hamilton. Did you hear how Seb begged the team to ask Kimi to let him through?
@allwynpushparaj14616 жыл бұрын
The team gave the orders to come in. He decided to bail out late after crossing the pit line after seeing Kimi pit. And FIA does not rule out penalties considering the team and the driver as separate entities. If one does a mistake, the penalty affects both the parties, as a team. And Seb asked Kimi to move out stating that he was faster. And yes he was faster as he later pulled out a 3 second gap immediately within the end of the second lap. Considering they were on different strategies with Kimi on much older tires, it makes complete sense. I rate Hamilton above Vettle in this race for sure but that win considering all these inconsistencies is bullshit.

Yes, sad, for a reason or another it looks like raikkonen will be the only one of the drivers on the top cars to not win a race this year, so also no more wins before he retires, I wouldn't mind one but there's so many things that have to go a certain way for it to happen. Bottas didn't win yet, but I'm pretty sure he will, hamilton has a lot of off weekends and bottas is often on form in those.

Even if Hamilton stayed out, Kimi would have been second on the restart which would have made it very interesting as he'd have been free to pursue Hamilton until the end of the race. That extra Ferrari horsepower may have been enough to jump Lewis whilst his older tyres were not quite up to temperature. Once they'd warmed up though, I doubt he'd have got past. Just that one big chance like Bottas had, would have been very, very close.....
