Pay per mile is a scam to start with. Driver does pre trip/post trip, fuel ups, scale inspections. border inspections, loading/unloading, driving in crawling traffic for hours, all for free!

I agree, all the research I’ve done with different pay types for trucking, I feel that hourly is the best. I’m also not a fan of pay by mile from ZIP Code to zip code, that is ridiculous. A lot of people take trucking jobs without educating themselves about the companies, including the pay package offered. Do your research and ask lots of questions before taking a trucking job or honestly before making decisions in general.

There's no difference between Best new driver, zero mistakes on roadtest, and guy who barely got thru with 29 mistakes and shit habits. It's tough. They need to review the insurance monopoly and lack of pathways for new drivers to actually Work and get that precious 2 yrs experience

While I agree and would love to be paid by the hour (reasonable rate!!), as a company driver you can't only look at the cpm, for example we get paid for loading, unloading, switches at customer, detention. It all makes a difference. Right now the problem is getting the loads. No load and it doesn't matter if you get paid cpm, hourly and even salary would only go so far before company would have to let you go.

Just pay them by the mile. Gross is ripping drivers off. They shouldn’t rely on gross. It’s too risky for an employee. You should be able to afford to pay them .65 if you’re grossing that much per truck. Take advice from a seasoned guy like Ronen

@@CForged nope - day salary is so much better, unless you like bagging for DT/Layover est.. no one should be paid by mile anymore, its a terrible system that leaves loopholes for many trucking companies to use excuse, most often they claim its just not ideal to pay a driver a fair wage, too many are taken advantage of, CPM is one of the biggest scams played on drivers in the industry - any business owner would tell you, time is money and no one works for free, but it seems like some drivers still like to work for free, possible out of ignorances as most companies would fight to never pay any day salary, though as relics die out and new generation move in - things will change and companies will adapt or go bankrupt, as they should - building a business on the backs of underpaying drivers is sickening, the sooner those companies are gone the sooner companies that actually pay a living value will takeover …

@@XZH-le4cZxx if a guys not getting miles then he’s not at the right company. Anybody with experience and a good record will find a private fleet to work with. Expecting spot market bottom feeders to pay salary is asking too much. A salary driver will also be expected to work all 70 hours in the US a week. That is not a good deal. The best companies don’t pay salary, it’s a joke. They pay by the hour. Every minute of a drivers time should be paid

@@mitch8575 Big carriers get paid a Carrier rate or contracted rate. Owner operators are merely glorified company drivers with a truck and no benefits or protections. Even if you become an independent you’ll still compete with other small carriers on all the load boards or ask to haul big carrier boxes. The best way to get better rates is to haul directly otherwise you’ll always be sharing the money with brokers or other big carriers
