A little history. Before we had bubble floats, we used a 6 in piece of broom handle with screw eyes and wire leader then the McDonald's straw. It had to be a McDonald straw. We painted the broom handle all kinds of craze colors and patterns.

Brad: terrific stuff! I was wondering why you the treble hook and straw (?) ~ I thought to myself "What bait is he going to put on a treble hook that he COULDN'T put on a single hook?!" but then it dawned on me when you described how you fished this set-up, that essentially you have a different version of a popping cork!

We threw bubbles all week when we were there in July. It’s a great way to fish and the blowups are awesome. Lime green was the best color straw for us by far.

Hi Brad. It’s Scotty out here in Colorado. I use a bubble rig quite often. Usually with an artificial fly, for lake trout. Not sure what type bubble you use, but the ones I use, you can fill half with water. Gives you the ability to cast a country mile.

Still a tried and true technique with the straw rig. Way back to the '80s for us. You should make a broomstick lure for King and Blues. So much fun! Good Tackle Tuesday information as usual, Brad! Cheers!

Curious if it would work along a shallow seawall - murky, less then 4 feet deep. We have tried fresh bait, artificial and got nothing you can see them darting from schools but not break the surface.

@@deftink0236 - family vacation is first week of May each year on Dauphin Island. Casting on to the grass flats or in to the surf is okay for us adults. It's the grand kids and sparking that interest in wanting to fish that's difficult, the species don't matter to a kid. That just want to cast and catch something.
@BeardedBrad92

@@BeardedBrad92 speckled trout, reds, flounder, whiting, the water is always kind of murky when we are there. The freighters and shrimpers keep in churned up. The oyster humps are casting distance from the sea wall in a few places.
