I use the Carnifex with the Vintage Heat Sink and for me it is a beast. I also use the Scorpion but the delayed explosion keeps me from using it as my main pistol.

thx - I must check out Ushior! M25 Hornet over Charger (and other full auto SMGs') personally - and yeah, SMG's aren't the best for damage, just great fun to have in battle. the N7 Eagle is one of the standards. Scorpion is life, waiting to hit lvl 30 to start augmenting the shit out of it. Lives in my first weapon slot until new blueprint levels are unlocked. Predator is great in Multiplayer, levels 1 - 10 (only if you're upgrading and using powers over weapons). haven't tried out the Sidewinder, beam or kett weapons yet.

Sidewinder is a pretty nice balanced weapon with a very fast reload but it has a severe lack of spare ammo.

True but you can kinda fix that with mods also there tend to be ammo boxes in most places that you get into fire fights.

timeforsuchaword I like it. Even without scopes it has mad range, damn good rate of fire, pretty great accuracy, above average dps too(as far as pistols are concerned). I like to think of it as the Pathfinders Pistol/Sidearm as the design itself is unique and makes it look like it was made for you. If you upgrade it enough(referring to tiers) you won't need to compensate for the ammo by using mods or augs. Actually turbocharged can refill ammo even when you have none left(in addition to its other benefits). I always have to use the Sidewinder. Other pistols focus too much on burst damage or rate of fire. But rate of fire is trivial when you factor in the low damage of most high rate pistols. The Sidewinder manages to be better at everything and not lacking anymore. Personally, the Hornet is better but I just hate smgs in this game. Hornet is an exception though. It boils down to personal preference.

Also, burst damage is another trivial thing in this game, especially with pistols. Its quicker to take out an enemy with a fast, average damage weapon than, say, a slow but strong weapon.

been using the Equalizer myself, homing plasma aug and whatever the best receiver mod I've got. I've spent plenty of time playing with the old staples and I'm not playing on the hardest difficulty, so it's not all that important at the moment. I personally like the Ushior pistol :P the slow reload is annoying, missing your shot is annoying, but all that spare time gives me a chance to actually pay attention to who my Remnant VI is zappiing so I can pull off multiple combos and wipe a group in 2 or 3 moves. my +combo build is the tech based - I'm sure it'll work with biotics. just pick the skills that add primers and detonators to as many things as you can, sit back and blow shit up. supplement with whatever guns you like - I pick off the annoying guys with the ushior or charge in and blow things up with the equalizer or carbine shotgun thing speaking of that shotty - the Reegar Carbine Shotgun - its un-adapted stock standard form is like a flame thrower, but with electricity. it's pretty fun to use. combining with that seeking plasma bolts aug. does not remove the electric effect(!). the little plasma bolts aren't all that effective at range but adds more damage output and is devvo in close ranged (mixed with my combo build, it's just ragdolls everywhere)

The Scorpion will always inflict its maximum damage without the necessity for headshots: stick the enemy, and you'll get a solid idea of how much damage will be inflicted. Soon, you'll be able to judge when a shot will kill an enemy so you can just shoot that enemy and move on to the next.
