Who remembers when Smitty's had pizza here in Phoenix, Arizona? I remember my father used to take us there on Fridays cuz he could cash his check, feed us and go grocery shopping. It's crazy how things change. I don't know if it was the experience hang out with my dad or if the pizza was actually that good. I'd like to believe both.

For Chicago style thin crust, the best I’ve had is at a hole in the wall place at 43rd avenue and Northern called Vito’s. It’s been there for at least 40 years. I rarely get down that way, but one of these days I’ll take you for a pie. Second would have to be Grimaldi’s, I know they’re a massive nationwide chain, but they consistently do a great job.

@@RippleofJoy it is a definitely a favorite in South Tempe? It's located at rural and Elliot. I am a doordasher and anybody that I interact with. I asked them if they've ever tried that place before and they tell me how awesome the place is which I agree with. It's so popular that people up in Scottsdale and North Tempe are constantly ordering it. I don't like going that area so I'm constantly declineing it. But when it becomes nights that is becomes a pizza night. That place is rocking with the orders I can say I'm not the only one that does deliveries and a lot of us just show up just to deliver for them cuz they don't have their own delivery people

I'm embarrassed to admit how many of these places I've been to...gotta be at least half, including some spots in Flagstaff, Tucson, and Sedona. My favorite is Spinato's, but that definitely doesn't stop me from trying out new places. Didn't recall hearing No Anchovies in Tucson. The first place I saw that had a baked potato pizza and buffalo chicken pizza (before you saw them everywhere).

Yes for sure on everyone has their tastes and the pizza sometimes fluxes. 1st time i had via i didnt think it was very good. Could have had an off day 2nd time it was fire!! Spinatos “chicago” has been a go to for me and it is always tasty. Also the top 20 totally are all great!!!

I may be biased cause I grew up on the pizza but JoJo’s Pizza will and has been the best pizza I’ve ever had. They are off of 39th Dr and Pinnacle Peak Dr, right down the street from Wet N Wild!

I also like Nancy’s pizza in naperville the sausage pizza but when i send people there they dont love it but might just bc i ate it all the time as a kid. What a great video! As it turns out my personal favorite pizza I've ever had is actually a chain pizzeria in NYC and the one I always visited was at 54th and 7th when I was in the city. Ray's Pizza, and it was thin, greasy, flavorful, and huge! The dough and sauce really put the whole thing over the top. So here you go, fun fact. Spinato's Pizzeria was once known as Aurellio's Pizza in the 70's and 80's. Apparently there was a big falling out among family members and Aurellio's ended up winning the pizzeria battle in AZ and the "zonie's" rebranded to Spinato's. Exactly the same recipe, and all. So if you are interested in recreating their sauce, here is the copycat recipe I created 25 years ago. Ingredients: 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil 1/3 cup onion, minced 5 garlic cloves, minced ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce 1 (28 oz.) can Pureed tomatoes (San Marzano) 2 ½ Tablespoons sugar 1 scant Tablespoon dried oregano 1 scant Tablespoon dried basil 1 scant Tablespoon dried marjoram 1 teaspoon kosher salt 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese Directions: 1. Sauté onions in the olive oil. Add the garlic and red pepper and cook for 30 seconds. Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add the tomato sauce and tomatoes. Bring to a low boil, reduce to a simmer. Add sugar and spices and continue to simmer for about 20 minutes. 2. Allow to cool to room temperature. 3. Use an immersion blender to eliminate most of the chunks. Then stir in the parmesan cheese and you’re ready to make some pizzas!

I remember Smitty's pizza. That was good. I lived close to Red Devil in PHX on McDowell and 31st street . That was good pizza. Plus Crusty's pizza is good too there used to be a Crusty's near Indian school and 48 th st. Those are my favorite pizzas. Besides Safeway's select pizzas in the freezer section. I haven't been to too many of these places, but I grew up in New Jersey and NY/NJ pizza is my favorite. Of the NY Style pizza places I have tried in town, Yo Pauly's is the most similar to pizza of my childhood...the style, ingredients, flavor, etc. That's my favorite. My wife is from Texas and loves thin crust and Upper Crust is her favorite.

I wish I could remember the name of my favorite pizza place. It was kind of a little hole in the wall, mom and pop type place in a strip mall. It's one of those places that could easily be overlooked because there wasn't a whole lot of advertising. They had the BEST pizza. Whenever I got paid, one of the first things I would do was pop in there for a slice. A single slice cost about $5, but it was bigger than my head. Gosh, I really would love to know what they were called. It was in Mesa.

Same here, in Florence, Italy was the best I’ve ever had in my entire life, hands down. It was also an out of the way place on the outskirts of Florence, no tourists at all. I was fortunate enough to have a cousin who married a local and lives in Florence. 🍕 😋

Venezia's is an upgrade from Corporate chain pizza but is FAR from the best IMO, Barro's is worse! Pizza by Napoli (35th Ave and Thunderbird) and Raffaele's Pizza (19th and Glendale Ave) are seemingly omitted from this list. Also, the #1 component for making a proper pizza is to have a proper oven. Any place that uses a conveyor belt oven (over sized toaster oven) is an automatic fail!

good video but as a pizza guy you are getting pies and most of them are small and not the signature fat single slice size if you were to order a single slice which is what I do 9/10 times you get which would be WAY better at a few of these. It took me going twice to realize but the smaller pies just aren't as good IMO.

I can't believe you didn't put Sal's in Gilbert on here. There are a few in Glendale. Lucky's, Ray's, Dons NY pizza. I'm from Nutley NJ. The town that has Ralphs pizza in it. Start tavern is amazing too in Jersey. So many spots. I miss them all.

I can tell you like sausage, but you had the wrong pizza at fat olives!! Nothing beats the Belgio dolce! We used to live in Laveen right up the street from Mimi’s, I personally wouldn’t have rated it at #1.. however I did enjoy their pizza often!
