Another interesting town is Ieper(Ypres). Completely destroyed during World War I and completely rebuilt. The surroundings are a huge variety of graveyards and in town do not forget to visit the Menin Gate where you can found more than 50000 names of soldiers that have no graves...

Interesting video... a big PRO of this video is that it makes us discover "hidden" places in Belgium, that many tourists don't know about (Mechelen, Veurne, Bouillon). However, the big NO here is the synthetic voice and its massacre of the french names... And you kinda lost us during the intro with "Belgium is one of the most beautiful countries in the world"... that's very funny, and i am belgian :D Anyway, if someone bothers to read this, there are tons of small towns worth a visit, and a youtube video is never long enough for them : - Ypres, Diksmuide, Kortrijk, Audenaarde, Geerardsbergen, Dendermonde, Rupelmonde (birthplace of Mercator), Leuven, Liers, Tongeren, Tournai, Thuin, Namur, Arlon, Durbuy, La Roche en Ardenne, Rochefort (and the Han sur Lesse caves)... And i'm sure people could add more to that list (like the coastal towns, De Haan is a gem). Little secret tip if you're in Brussels, go to Anderlecht, this municipality used to be a city in older times. The historic center is still interesting (around metro Saint-Guidon), with its old central place, church, beguinage, a preserved old street and the Erasmushuis.

"Mechelen"? That's the local Dutch name. It's called "Mechlin" in English.
