I agree with everything you have said about Alu power. I know a bunch of string heads, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend trying Kirshbaum max power (16 or 16L in silver). Its a german string that plays exactly like Alu but is pre stretched and maintains tension far better than any poly on the market. I went from Alu to this string and now its been years using it

Hey, did you try yonex poly tour spin? Some peolpe say its better than hyper G, more durable, and in europe it's cheaper too.

Hi Brian, Thanks for this. I found alu power soft is really good! Could you please review it? Thanks for your consideration!

Well....I prefer ALU Power rough (16L) if all things were equal and money was no object. It's been my go to string for years. Never even heard of black knight, I'm almost 100% sure it's not sold out here. Recently, I've been using Technifibre Ice Code (17g) & am fairly impressed. Hard to be definitive as I've only used it in my Yonex vcore's 97 hd (@48lbs), I haven't had the opportunity to play with different tensions etc even though I've restrung a number of times. It is rather lively for a poly, but still with plenty of control. Seems to be fairly durable. I don't think it does anything special, but for me there's no weakness or trade off perhaps. I've been told it plays similarly to RS Lyon a string I've been wanting to try for a fair while now, not easy to find out here, so often gets forgotten when I purchase. Yonex Poly Tour Strike (16L) is another string I've rated highly this year. The crispest I've found in the Yonex range. There's just so many strings to try it gets ridiculous. Some of the more 'exotic' or lessor known brands never seem to make it out here. Keen to try Grapplesnake, again not out here for the time being. And some of the cheaper German polys like Polytour or MSV, even Weiscannon, I've tried a string or 2 in their line, but never went further. Perhaps, I was too enamoured with ALU Power rough back then! Solinco Hyper G is up there with one of my favs, I do go back to it from time to time. For the price it is certainly one of the best. I also feel that familiarity with a string goes a long way. So having played with Alu Power rough so much it's just hard for anything to better. I think before that time...gosh it seems so long ago (working in the industry), I'd tried most strings from all the main brands: babolat, technifibre, volkl, signum, some kirschbaum (still wouldn't mind trying pro line evolution - that blue string), solinco, head etc. Haven't tried any polys by Diadem, Prince, head lynx, laserfibre (not out here) & others. But, of the main players over the years I've been fortunate enough to try most. Cheers.

I reckon WCUC can give Hyper-G a run for it's money. They play quite similar.

@luffy-senpai90895 жыл бұрын
@@nostro1001 I can't speak from experience as I've never felt a stiff sting in my life aparr from RPM. I play with polys strung high all the time and don't really notice that stiffness ever so I don't know what that feels like. However if stiffness is how firm the string is on impact yh but only a tad bit otherwise the stringbed softens up over time I found.
@nostro10015 жыл бұрын
@@luffy-senpai9089 well you see....some of us grew up playing before the invention of poly's. So having used soft strings pre the days of poly's, essentially all polys are regarded as stiff. Some with way less elasticity than others, therefore a stiffer poly!!

Hey Brian, great Video, but how would you compare Hyper-G to a Luxilon 4g? Is the 4g worth the price?

Love the control and spin of hyper g. Not great on power, even at 48 lbs. And after about 16 hours, it really dies fast

Hey there. Just found your channel! I just watched your review of Tier 1 Black Knight from Feb 2019 and wanted to come back to this one and say... I vote YES to you doing a head to head comparison of Black Knight vs RPM Blast. I hope you do it! Great videos!
@luffy-senpai90895 жыл бұрын
I have tried quite a few polys recently. - Babolat RPM Blast - Babolat RPM Blast Rough - Technifibre Black Code 4S - Luxilon ALU Power - Luxilon Savage - Yonex Poly Tour Pro - Yonex Poly Tour Spin - Yonex Poly Tour Air - Solinco Tour Bite - Solinco Hyper-G - Solinco Revolution - Tourna Big Hitter Black Zone And out of these pretty solid choices for a poly the only one worth my time and money is Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable. That string is extremely underrated. The reason I would take WCUC any day is the fact that it literally does what it says on the tin. No marketing ploy like RPM or "maximum spin" as Diadem Solstice Powee advertises. The string is 4 sided just like hyper-g but it's sharp as hell, probably the worst poly to use in a hybrid because it's that sharp. Sometimes after having it freshly strung the string cuts on itself. That really is what true "ball grab" is. There are many 4 sided strings out there but WCUC dashes the like of Technifibre 4S and Hyper-G out the window. The spin is ridiculous, even when I was eastern a few months ago I had the ball diving in unexpectedly, I even thought some points where over but the shot called in. Rips the felt off the ball and the sharpness does not wear off like Diadem or Technifibre 4s, the string somehow is very robust to sharpness wear so you could play with this for weeks and not clock. The most important thing I also check with my polys is snapback because some strings are very gimmicky like RPM where that "special" cross linked silicone coating that increases snapback really wears quick after 3-4hrs and they start notching. Same thing with technifibre and diadem and YPTS. And this is usually something I find in aggressively shaped spinning polys. In rounded smooth polys like Luxilon Alu Power or Yonex Poly Tour Pro the snapback for me was so much better but there obviously was no shaped, not that it matters as it's technique that gives off spin but the marketing ploy of shaped strings giving off spin used to fool me very well. But either you get a poly string with good/okayish snapback because of a special oil (cough cough...yonex poly tour spin G) that wears off soon and becomes meh... or you get no shaped strings that have excellent snapback. Well meet a string that not only is more violent that diadem and hyper-g but the slickness and snapback of the string is superior, WCUC does not notch at all and if it did it's very minimal as all it does is slide on itself. It's that slick. Mind you I don't remember Weiss Cannon bragging about having the best snapback technology and here we are with a string that best even the mighty RPM. My other aspect of this string that I love so much is the dangerous amount of control on your shots. This string doesn't even give you confidence to swing for angle it makes you believe you can go for even the trickiest angles with no sweat. I found the control to fit my game like a glove and in all honesty does the contol better than tour bite and hyper-g. The feel, touch everything about this string is bread and butter. I don't remember a bad day with this string. You mentioned in the vid you have wild swings right? This should fit you perfect. Try this string out and if possible I wan't to see your review of this on youtube.

I forgot to mention I'm an aggressive baseliner who had and eastern grip a few months ago but went to a full western as I found the extreme spin I wanted and really allowed me to not hold back on my shots. Best shots are my serve, smash and groundstrokes. And I use a Babolat Pure Drive Tour Plus 2015 model. I string it with a full bed of Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable at 54lbs but I'm still experimenting on tensions. I'm based on the UK so I don't use USTA levels but on the descriptions I would say I'm a 4.5. I regularly play tournaments as well and play for my college team.

@@zxbillfo well....no full set of poly is good for sensitive arms. Lucky, I read the comments as I was going to ask or comment that I assume this string is extremely stiff. So wanted confirmation. As I figured it's really stiff. I've found over the years that the heavily shaped polys tend to be the stiffest or equal to the stiffest in the range of polys. Cheers!

WCUC is one of the softer feeling polys I have used. It's not the softest as it's quite crisp but I never get a stiff feeling from this one on off center hits like RPM. RPM was playable but stiff to me, whereas I felt Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable played softer than stated. If you don't have any arm issues please do try this one out.
