Re the first exercise - if you do have lower-back issues, the postural tilt can also be performed lying on your back - as they do in Pilates. The benefits of this option, is that by lying on your back, no load is going through the lower-back.

What also helps that first tilting exercise is to imagine the pelvis as a big bowl filled with water and to tilt it forward (anteriorly) means to spill out a bit from the front and to tilt it backwards (posteriorly) means to spill out a bit from the back! These are so good and could easily be marketed for younger people as "anti-aging"! Thanks a million :))

Good evening, Dr. WILL HARLOW. First of all, thanks for astonishing work. I am gynecologist in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and I have lots of old patients with mutiple problems that you show here. I work at city public hospital and Many of them are poor and cannot have Access to physio. I would like to them some information, diagnosis and exercises of the causes to improve their quality of life. Thanks Will. These exercises are superb and your explanations and demonstrations are perfect. They complement and add to what I've learned from my physical therapist and personal trainer. Three years ago I underwent Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion for cervical disc degeneration. The surgery was most successful relieving my cervical radiculopathy, but post-op and ongoing neck and back exercises have improved my posture and range of motion incredibly. I can now turn around to back out safely from parking spaces.

A tad tight on the forward anterior tilt. Feels great immediately. Doing this every day from now on.

Have real bad lower back to toes pain and we are getting ready mentally for a hike up a mountain. Been going to the gym, doing yoga and walking everyday but getting worried about the pain in the foot started looking at videos on KZbin. Just came across your videos today. Thank you Will, it cannot be overstated, as a teen I'd walk with a book 📖 (closed of course/ha ha) on my head to practice posture and it is so extra tireing to walk crocked, reach for anything as such too!

Thanks Will. Very nice exercises! To remember which is which (cat/cow) think of a cat that is frightened and his back is arched and hair standing on end. With the cow, think of the gigantic very bony pelvis sticking up with its tail on top. lol.

Thanks for these. I suffer from lower back pain due to osteoarthritis and narrowing of my lower spine and scoliosis. I also have a large parastomal hernia following an emergency colostomy two years ago which doesn't help my back problems despite wearing a support. I already do gentle daily exercises for my hips and knees as far as I am able and try to take a short walk but these don't help much. I will try adding your back exercises too.

Thank you for your great exercises. I'm not 100% sure but I think the cow is the saggy back and cats when they're scared arch their backs, so the arched back would be the cat. Just saying. :) Also what do you think of feldenkrais movements?

I have a pelvic rotation. I have trouble getting the pelvis to work together. One ischial tuberosity wants to go one way and the other ischial tuberosity wants to go the other way I have to really concentrate with the finger tips on the ASIS

You mentioned lordosis and kyposis. Are there any exercises to reduce scoliosis, probably the result of carrying a heavy messanger bag on just one side of my body for years during commutes to and from work.

I believe he has some video on this. And also Spine Care and Decompression channel has. I'm not a doctor, but according to my doctor, adults cannot be cured. If that's the case, we're talking about reducing pain and maintaining function.

What is best exercise to correct one hip being markedly higher than the other? (Due to severe spasticity pulling one hip down so that one hip is much higher than the other)

I have tried this exercise, how do you know that you are not putting your head to far back on the wall because it is a very short distance going down towards the chest.

I will say that the cat cow in any position ahould be approached with caution if you have deteriorated facet joints like me.

we can always click the settings gear icon on the video & increase (or decrease) the speed of the video. Plus I use closed captions so if i want i can mute the video & read the instructions. Hope this helps.

No, it isn't. You need to multitask. I have a meal or a beverage while watching. I also frequently try the exercises along with Will right away.
