It's "dangerous" because a Senator's relative was "unsmart" enough to clean a tank that contained methylene chloride without adequate ventilation and died. She then pushed legislation through congress to outlaw methylene chloride. The reason it is now expensive is all of the new regulations included in the bill that drove up the cost of manufacturing.

Ya know what,.. I've been buying this brand of stripper for years,.. and since they banned the methylene chloride,.. this product not only sucks ballz,.. but they damn near doubled the price... I use to by this a out 25-28 dollars. Gallon,.. now it's doubled for this brand,.. and it is tripled for rock miracle, (that don't work either).. bc of the ban... I did get methylene chloride online for 25/gallon+ 90 for shipping,.. I can not wait for the real stuff to get here,.. the only thing I don't miss is getting this splashed on my skin,.. burns like a mofo !!.. Anyways.. that's my 2 cents

If you’re stuck in a bind and need something from the store klean strip stripper works great in 8 hours…. Stripoxy 6842 works great heated to 165-175 degrees Fahrenheit pulls powder in about 25 minutes. It’s about $30 a gallon and mixes 50/50 with water. I’m $80 in my setup but I only got a gallon to do small projects.

Soy Gel Franmar(I think its Blue Bear now) costs 4x as much but it will work faster than overnight(havent tested powdercoat specifically) also you dont have to submerge the part, an even coating will work and then you can scrape it off with one of those lodge beefy plastic potscrapers and used the removed paint as new soygel to leave it on other parts that maybe didnt remove as evenly so you would use way less may cost less or the same but more fiddling and faster removal time........ Need a head to head comparison with KleanStrip premium to see who comes out ontop apples to apples comparisons...... Not sure if soygel is an endocrine disruptor but likely it is.....

Holy crap! Ok you’ll get a kick outta this. I make original airframe art. Replicating airframe skin and such. I made a Chiefs shield a while ago and messed it up at the final powder stage. Not knowing, I tried to use something like this but painted it on. Nnnnnnope. So I took it to a sand blasting company who made it into scrap aluminum. I had to begin the project all over again. THEN I messed up another project. Different one all together. It was horrible because my dumb ass got in too much of a rush and didn’t clean it properly. This time I used a vat of acetone for 24 hrs. It worked…ish. I had to do a lot of scraping. My recent screw up I sanded the part clean. Yep been a bit rough in the old shop lately but I’m learning as I go and folks like you give me a good heads up on how to avoid my next screw up! Thx!

Goof Off works on my aluminum. Pulls the coating off in seconds. It’s $26 a gallon at Lowe’s and Home Depot. On our aluminum parts, we cannot use a wire brush or wheel. But, there’s absolutely no need. Just a rag and a dab of Goof. In and out.

Metal would probably be best for the vat, but in the video I used a heavy duty Rubbermaid tub. When using this stripper I always use thick heavy duty rubber gloves. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Strange, i bought this from home depot to strip a set of wheels i have and oddly enough it only worked on 1 face, did nothing to my other faces/ barrels, i did brush it onto all of them the same way i might buy more and try submerging to hopefully get better results, i didn't know if it was just a mediocre stripper or if i was doing something wrong

Awesome video.....just a couple questions ❓ Can the vat or tub used be made of plastic? I need to strip several large tubular steel suspension parts and some have polymer bushings in them.....what are your thoughts there?
@CycleFab
@CycleFab Жыл бұрын
The only way to be sure is to test it. Remember all plastics are polymers, but not all polymers are plastics. Find out what it is you're dealing with material wise first. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting.

@@Mlive722 actually amazing! I poured a whole gallon of the gel paint stripper from HD in a big, shallow plastic container. Let the wheel faces sit for an hour and it’s easily falling off. If you are doing a whole wheel though you’ll probably want another gallon or 2. I was doing multi-piece wheels so the face alone is removable.

Double check your pricing again....I buy 5 gallons at a time of methylene chloride based stripper and it's about $200 delivered. Recently, because of the delays getting it, I purchased 5 gallons of non-methylene chloride stripper from the same company and it was more - $350 delivered. $55 a gallon for this stuff is pricey....unless that's your only option then I guess it doesn't matter. Have a great day.

@CycleFab
@CycleFab Жыл бұрын
If your tool box is already painted with paint then this stripper can just be applied with a brush and it should work just fine. If you're trying to strip existing powder coat off your tool box then you'll need to get it professionally stripped. Or just sand the existing powder coat and then paint over it. Hope this helps🙂
