I've been using the Alpinestars SM10 for over a year now and I LOVE it. It's incredibly lightweight. Airflow is literally on the frigid side. It also has routing in the cheek foam for water hose.

Do you have a recommendations video for Enduro helmets? We aren’t riding fast on the track with lots of wind to make the vents work. We need helmets that let the heat out when slogging it in the woods. Would be cool if you could get manufacturers to make some enduro models with specific features.

I like whooped out single track the best, like 3rd gear stuff. I just picked up the Klim F3 carbon pro, (The earlier F3 carbon helmet is almost the same, and the lightest helmet on the market by a good 1/2-3/4 lb margin.), and the venting should be great. But the newer Klim F5 (also carbon fiber shell, but Dot approved, so Heavier and more expensive.), is the first helmet to have a bit of a bicycle helmet venting to it. It has the other ports, but 2 longer vents on top like a vented bicycle helmet between the ribs. If you are just chugging around on a hot day, I bet that helmet would be hard to beat for ventilation, and it is their highest technical helmet they make. It has vertical "crush tubes" instead of a lot of the Styrofoam around the top of the head. Those vertical tubes, (blocks of them all glued together vertically), allow direct venting from the top of you head and out of the helmet. You can see through the helmet through them.

The absolute most important factor in choosing a helmet is fit. This is what I hate about the world of internet commerce. It's awesome they can do one exchange, but when I go to a shop, I probably try on 5-6 helmets and decide which fits best.

I have a cheap helmet that is just slightly too big, one of those HJC $100.00 jobs, (replacing with Klim carbon pro now), so it works better than MIPS with more travel and my hair acts like a rotational damper. :) Seriously though, my local shop (only good one for miles, and is miles away) does not have 5 different helmets to try on. I think they had 2. Just getting back into riding again, I picked the HJC. It is really a good helmet for $100.00. But that Klim company makes some very good stuff with intelligent innovation, and not being DOT approved allowed it to be less expensive and lighter.

Please include the weight as per your weighing the helmets not the manufacturer's suggested weigh. Of course always weight the same size for every helmet. This would help so much is very valuable. Bells are bad if the rider wears eyeglasses. Tough, near impossible to get eyeglasses on and into the helmet. Unfortunely HJC does not have a higher spec helmet as they fit great for eyeglass wearers but HJC fit and work for me so well. HJC sells more helmets worldwide than any other rmanufacturer and has for over a decade.

We have the Bell 10. It's terrible. Visors are super flimsy and break. We've had 2 break from roost alone during rides. On top of that they want 50 bucks to replace them when you can find one in stock. The fact they are constantly out of stock tells you how often they need replaced.

I own an Airoh Aviator 3 and it is the most uncomfortable helmet i have ever used. Bought an M and was ridiculously tight to where I would get headaches even 4 rides in. Went up to size L and the helmet slips all over the place. The fit of the helmet is weird at least on my head and the inner liners keep slipping. Also I have 100%, Fly, and Fox goggles and none of them really fit the helmet. Biggest problem is liner slipping and helmet coming down on goggles.

Hey Chase, What is the safest motocross helmet regardless of price? Thanks
@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc Жыл бұрын
That is a really tough question because it's subjective to rider opinion. But, I will say that the helmet I feel safest in when I ride is the 6D, simply because the technology in their helmet makes sense of why it would protect me so well. Behind that, I would say the Bell Moto-10 and the Fly Formula are the next two that have very innovative technology that stand out from other helmets. Again, this is my opinion and I could be totally wrong and maybe my Shoei or my Fox V3 RS both would outperform those in a test. I always tell riders to buy the helmet that they feel is the safest. - Chase

I have non-Koroyd one. ECE-only. I also have Fly Formula, Leatt v20 (old design), Fly F2 Carbon. I've tried Bell Moto-9 on. F5 is lighter than everything else on the US market. @@cowpker4life333 I can see that. DOT means at least .5lbs heavier, and at least $100.00 more expensive. That was a big reason why I just got the KLIM F3 Carbon pro. The only helmet lighter that I have seen is the earlier Klim F3 carbon (no "pro", no Koroyd), by about 1.5 ounces. I love the Fid chin buckle. I think MIPS is over rated. I bet an old fashioned round shell works better if tested over a wide range of hit angles on the ground. I got the Klim F3 carbon pro for 500 Bob. But I think the Klim F3 Carbon (slightly older design) for $400.00 is probably the best buy on the market for price and performance, and the lightest on the market at 1100gr (2.45lbs)for a Medium. My XXL is probably around 1175gr. (2.65lbs). I am doing 30mph trail riding. Screw DOT :) Now there is an affordable option nobody else has. :)

I started riding again after 20 years off and first picked up a HJC CS-MX2 helmet. It has dual density foam, a pretty decent ventilation system, pretty low weight at about 3.2lbs (If I remember right), removable liner for cleaning, and a pretty good visor with plenty of adjust-ability with a big goggle hole. The only thing I don't like about it is the D rings for the neck strap. After it a ride it tightens up and is a bear to get undone. But for $100.00, it is a great helmet, (as good as anything in the 80's and maybe 90's). Mine fits to size. I got a XXXL by a bit of a bad judgement on my part, and it is a bit loose. I am replacing it with a Klim F3 Carbon Pro and it just came in today. That is a XXL, and it fits like it, nice and snug, (I measured my head to order that one), so the HJC sizing is on par too IMO. For $100.00, I give that HJC two proud standing thumbs up.
