I agree. I have the epson p800 and I love it! I'm just trying to decide on paper. I think for my art , since it's mostly digital paint, I'm leaning towards an ultra smooth paper . Also buying roll paper is waaaay cheaper per sheet. One KZbin pointed that out. So I got the roll adapter and once I get the paper I will start sorting out my prints and set up my online shop. I don't want to ship rolled though. I just think flat is better even for 16x20 prints. My plan is to get the picture framing place to trim and mount them on backing board and I will ship them in some kind of light weight sturdy packaging. what I looove doing as well is I got the epson printable clear film to print on and then I transfer those images into art resin on panel. It makes my art look HD. So far I've only printed to apply my digital art to my mixed media and/or onto wood panel. What I do as far as ink is I purchase remplacements once it goes below the grey warning line after the low ink message comes up. Then I only replace it once the cartridge is totally empty. one last thing, I coat my prints with Breathing Color Timeless varnish. It gives extra protection and additional u.v protection to the prints. you just roll it on. with a dense foam roller. Google breathing color timeless varnish.

Thank you for this video. I am currently considering between Canon PIXMA Pro-200, PIXMA TS9550, PIXMA iP8750 or the Epson XP-15000. What do you think? Do you have any experience with those? I mean, the Epson is much cheaper than the Pro-200, but the Pro-200 uses 8 cartridges, while the Epson only 6, and they have different colour combinations. The Epson cartridges are very expensive, and contain very little ink, so maybe it more often needs refilling than the Canon also. I am not a professional, but I want high quality prints, occasionally even large ones. The other Canons on my list are more of the same price as the Epson, one is 6 cartridge the other is 5 cartridge printer, but have some advantages, however, the TS9550 is really very loud and does not have that high resolution. I don't paint, but take photos.

The SC 900 is a upgrade from the 800. I have both, the 800 I just use at my home studio and the 900 I use in the real studio. The difference is the resolution is higher in the 900 and you don't have to switch from photo black and matte black like I did with the 800. When I switched from ph black (reference images) to matte black (print out of the comp) it would kill my inks it's the ink guzzling equivalent of head cleaning. Also, the 900 doesn't clog up like the 800 does you have to print like every week or you will get clogged up with the 800. If you don't print often but do need a high res photography printer that can handle various media, there are options in the $400 -$600 range. The P700 is the sister model of the 900 and cost $700 it's just prints at 13x17 instead of 17x22 and has smaller cartridges 25ml instead of 50ml like the P-900.

It sounds a bit like Epson is good and Canon not. But at the end you compare two different models (a $200 Canon vs. a $1.000 Epson). Compare the current A2 printers Epson SC-P 900 to a Canon ImageProGraf Pro-1000 and I assume these two will show only minimal differences. I fully agree with the recommendation regarding 3rd party inks: Most are a total waste of money.

What is your estimate for the average cost of toner for each print that is 8x10? And how about for the larger sizes? As you noted the cartridges are expensive and factoring this in certainly helps better understand the true cost per print and total cost of ownership for this Epson model. Thanks for your help and guidance,
@NeuroSoup
@NeuroSoup 3 жыл бұрын
The Epson p800 does not use toner. It is pigment based ink.This is an important distinction because toner will fade after a few years, whereas pigment based ink will stay bright and colorful for 75 or more years. came to comment the same thing lol! Joe and Duncan were so f'ked up lol! Joe remembered the channels name but went for the cheap laugh/joke, while Duncan being his sweet/caring self, showed love.
