This is really encouraging. I started out my online art sales career on eBay and then move to Etsy because it was specifically for art and it was great in the beginning. Now that I’m going to start doing this again I’m going back to eBay.
@KrystleColeArt4 сағат бұрын
Etsy is so competitive, so is eBay, but it seems like less at least for me anyway. I stand a chance at getting my art listed in search on eBay, whereas an Etsy seems like I have no chance. So eBay is definitely worth a try!

Honestly, I've mostly given up on trying to sell online, specifically to an international audience. I no longer have it in me to wrestle with the trends of social media. I too have also come to the conclusion that local and in-person is the way to go and I'm working on creating art and products for markets this year. I've done three markets in the past and while I didn't make much, I had instant results. At least this way I know for a fact what works and what doesn't. It's also nice to get out and meet people 😊

I shared lots of tips in the video that should help you with determining your art buyers. I’m not sure about selling in person in India, though, I don’t have any experience with that. Are there any artists in India who teach how to sell art there where you live? Because there may be specific things that will help you that I honestly just don’t know about since I don’t live there.

This is a very good idea!!! I'm a performing guitarist who also has just got into doing art & art shows recently & has sold some of my paintings the last 3 times at this art/craft show. Since I'm basically just starting out ( last 6 months ) my prices art low & the people who have been buying them are around your age, I'm 61, but what I thiy draws them in is my art is more fantasy based landscapes, plus, I also play classical/fusion guitar music ( at a low volume, so I don't disturb anyone ) so I think the music also draws them in. I agree with, there's opportunities out there, so don't be afraid, just go for it, thanks for all your help, I really do appreciate it, you are AWESOME!!! Keep On Creating, Rock On & God Bless.

I've never sold art on the East Coast, I sell in the Midwest primarily. I live in Kansas. Although, I've heard of some really amazing craft shows there on the East Coast. You might check out craft shows if you haven't had any luck selling at art fairs, etc. Look for the ones on the sunshine artist magazine top 200 list.

As somebody who's been selling now for about 15-20 years and has done shows around the country I completely agree with this dude you have to have an audience and if you don't have the audience or the people who want to buy within your area you're not going to make that kind of money I watch people all the time of art of different types all arts who struggle and don't make ends meet because of the fact that people just plain can't afford the stuff or just want to get it for cheap or next to nothing off of Amazon or some other place

Such good (and practical) advice! I see so much advice for selling art that’s really not practical and doable for most people, but these steps are easy to follow and something that most people can try. Plus in my experience over the last few years of doing almost exactly the advice in this video I have found that it does work so if you’re hesitant to try it, know that this will definitely get you out there with your artwork-the only way people will know about your art is if they see it and see you and get to know you. And unfortunately, being online really isn’t the best way to do that!

My local farmers market was less than receptive to me selling art. When I made sales, I would go to the other booths and buy stuff - food and produce - but none of the other vendors ever even visited my booth. I was given a spot that the organizer told me no one had ever made a sale at. That is how I was treated at a farmers market. Good luck to everyone and I hope you have a better time than I did!
@KrystleColeArt2 күн бұрын
So sorry to hear that! Every show is different, so I would suggest trying a different farmers market. Perhaps you would have a different reception. Also, what’s important is if you were able to sell any of your art at it. Who cares what the other vendors think of you, or if they don’t like you selling art, etc. That is inconsequential. The point is to go there and make money, not friends. I know that may seem harsh, but I’m all about a business mindset.
@Boofricketyhoo39 минут бұрын
I agree. Take a friend with you so you wont be alone, that would probably help. Also, the other vendors don’t pay your bills, so concentrate on selling that art.

Thanks Krystle. I do dog portraits and the problem is I like doing caricatures and portraiture in an abstract way. Can I ask what would be the best approach to these farmers markets? Just specialise in one thing?
@KrystleColeArt2 күн бұрын
When you’re starting out it’s best to show everything that you are making in the same booth, and then you can try to test market and see what people are buying. Then make more of what people buy. Simple as that :)

Hi 👋 Krystle, Another question I had in mind is, how long do you take breaks from painting? What is your recommendation for taking some time off from the studio? How long do you take breaks? Have a great day!
@KrystleColeArt2 күн бұрын
I always take breaks for a day or longer if I start to have tendinitis flareups. I think that's super important to take breaks when you have pain. Otherwise, I try to paint as much as I can because it makes me happy, lowers my stress levels, and just overall enhances my quality of life. But I think it's a good time to take off from working in the studio if it's not enhancing your life in a positive way. If it's causing you stress or like I said before pain, tendinitis, then it's time to take a break. You don't want burnout :)
@DeLuna_Tony2 күн бұрын
@ thank you so much for responding back! Yes I agree with you on that. And I do not do well in taking breaks lol, but I did however, managed to pull off almost a three week period without painting. My only concern is, that if you take a lot of time off you lose your touch or feel a bit rusty. It’s like working out, you lift heavy weights for a week, then you take a week off and believe it or not, your muscles tend to feel a bit weak lol! But yes I do agree with what you said. I will try to do my best to take breaks in between. Especially with painting with fumes, not good for your health. Once again I appreciate your time!

do you photograph your originals before or after you put a gloss or satin sealer on your art?
@KrystleColeArt2 күн бұрын
I think it is best to photograph before putting varnish on, if you're going to varnish. But you can photo after as well. It's just easier if you're gonna use glass varnish to photo before so you don't have as much shine.

Great video! Question... Aside from a true DIY build, which I can do but don't really have the time right now to do it, would you have a recommendation for an economical 36 x 48 open back frame for a canvas? My wife has an inherited painting which the very outdated frame has been damaged and we want to replace it with something a little more modern. I am having difficulty sourcing something in this size online. I figured I would ask you before I go searching in stores. Thanks!
@KrystleColeArt3 күн бұрын
I hate to say it, but with a frame that size you probably are better off from a money-saving standpoint if you can make it yourself. But what you might try is there’s a company called Dick Blick, they sell frames where you can buy the pieces of the exact sizes. Then assemble the precut pieces yourself. This way you can get a large size shipped in a smaller box and for cheaper than it would be if the frame were assembled and that large. They sell a lot of other art supplies too, I’m not sure exactly if they sell anything that large, but it’s worth checking out, they’re online.

Are these only good for printed, or preprimed, canvas? My originals are done on canvas that I've stretched and gessoed myself, but I have yet to start copying them. This system looks like a miracle to me.
@KrystleColeArt3 күн бұрын
Yes, these are best for canvas prints. You would not want to stretch an original painting over them I wouldn’t think. I use them to make canvas prints of my original paintings.
