Have you had any issues with smaller paper sizes getting tilted during the printing process? I've been trying to get 4x6 paper to print out properly, but the printer somehow just tilts the paper mid-print. A little specific, but I figure it's better to ask someone who seems pretty knowledgeable:)

Nope when I print smaller 4x6 or 5x7’s I just adjust the feeding tray accordingly, so far I haven’t any many issues with that. You may want to see if running a printer head alignment will help you out! If you don’t know how to do it, canon has the resources on their website, I believe you press the power button like 4x until the Wi-Fi light blinks or something like that

If you have been using the ink cartridges for awhile and plan to print 13x19 how would you know that the ink wouldnt run out before it was done printing. I love this printer and am trying to print larger prints for the first time. Thanks

Normally there will be a prompt on the screen that gives you all of the ink levels before you print. If there is not enough ink in the cartridge the printer will not print

Sorry for the late response, when you go to print, you’ll have to choose the corresponding size like A3 is 13x19 so 11 x 17 would be A4 or tabloid paper. I hope this helps.

When you turn it on, about how long does it take to set up and begin printing? I can hear mine setting up for about a minute then another 30 seconds to actually start printing. Just wasn’t sure if that was normal. Thanks!

Yeah the first initial start takes around 30-45 seconds and than after that it’s about 10-15 seconds to print

thanks for this! my art studio doesn't have wifi. if i do all the initial set-up up at home, will i be able to use it in my art studio with a usb cord instead of wifi? this is what i currently do with my wifi-capable regular printer in my studio. also wondering about how you said that in order to print, you need to use canon's app. does that mean you can't just like go to file >print on a google doc or file in adobe illustrator? do you need to open the file in canon app and then print from there? thanks!

Yes, I think you’ll have to buy one though as it didn’t come with one. You can print through the regular printer app on your computer, but to get better control over how you print, the Canon App has better controls

You’ll want to calibrate your monitor/computer screen, most of the time when something is printed out that doesn’t match accurately to the screen it’s because the color shift from the screen

Sure I mean it does all of the basics of printing, I regularly print out documents etc. if you’re planning on picking one up for Fine Art Prints you should look into Hahnemuhle paper, it’s archival quality but it is a little bit expensive so keep that in mind

Did you have problems with clogged printhead? I have a Epson 1400 and the print heads are always clogged unless you use the printer a few times a week (which is not my case). I'm looking to buy the canon. Also, any experience with generic ink cartridge? Thx !

At this time no, but when replacing the ink cartridges on this printer I do a print head alignment and occasionally every month or so I’ll do a nozzle cleaning just to get a more even print. I haven’t found any generics for this printer but the Canon cartridges are reasonably priced, so I tend to stick with them

Hi MapaBadi, I’m not sure if your question still stands, but I have this printer and use it to print invitations! I’ve used both textured cardstock and regular smooth 120lb cardstock & so far I’ve had no issues printing! I’d say the only “issue” I’ve had so far is that colors on this printer do not come out accurate.

I just bought this printer on sale, and so far it seems awesome. I have had no issues with connecting it to WiFi, and the print quality is about the same as the PRO-100 it is replacing. However, I can not seem to find the Canon Utility program that lets you test printer head alignment and other features. Also, when I used my PRO-100 (years ago) it had options in the print dialogue to select the type of paper being used (ie. glossy, satin, matte, etc.). Is that only a feature for the PRO printers? My wife and I have it connected to both a Windows PC and a Mac.

You’ll have to download the program from canon, I think mine came with a CD for instillation but I’m sure canon has it on their website. That should allow you to change all types of settings

In reference to the transfer wrinkling, don’t fold the shirt for at least 24 hours after pressing. Also, I’ve used fabric transfers with my sublimation printer and it came out great! Hope this helps

I have three printers running right now; the Epson XP-15000 for printing images, a cheap Epson XP-5100 - I purchased for $20 - for printing documents etc.., and a Canon TS9120 that I used to print some images on but the ink heads are starting to mess up so it's mainly used for documents etc..until it fails. Once the TS912O quits I will start using the iP8720. I don't want to start ink running through it then it ends up just sitting. Sorry 😐

I use it on windows 11 no problem, ink cartridges have been pretty easy to find at all places ( Walmart, target, Office Depot etc ) and I use this to print documents and other stuff along with photos

I need advice. I design and sell greeting cards. Many use photos in the designs. I bought this printer thinking it would be a great option. What I've found is that it prints great on photo paper, but I can't use photo paper for greeting cards. On regular high gloss paper, the quality is terrible. The dye sinks in to the paper and looks totally washed out - again, that's on high gloss paper. What is so different about photo paper that the quality is so much better? Does anyone know of a glossy-on-one-side card stock that works well with this printer?

I’ve used regular glossy and photo luster photo paper for prints and I haven’t had any issues with it looking “washed”? It could be that the greeting card paper you’re using is subpar? I know a while back I had a local shop ask me to make greeting cards for them and the Avery Greeting card paper I used was glossy and they looked absolutely terrible, I switched to using matte instead. Not sure if that’s an option for you, but I believe the issue on your end may be that the paper you’re using isn’t the best?

Used my for 2 years and this week had problems with black print. Using photo glossy paper, the color changes to purple or mixed. When printing test sheet from cleaning, the black bar portion of the printout was non-existent on plain paper. I tried everything and & looked everywhere on Internet & Canon to no avail. Finally changed my print preference from Standard to photo for photo paper and that worked. Tried printing on plain paper on Standard and that worked. Of the massive info that I found online about the problem, only one (non-Canon post) gave this suggestion that I tried and worked. Prior to this problem, I always used the same preference with no problem. Alas finally it's fixed. (liked your video clip here. thanks)

When you print on the IP8720 you have to choose the correct paper or for some reason it will not come out correctly, when I edit my photos in photoshop I upscale them to 300DPi and than when I print I choose high quality in the print settings and glossy photo paper. Unfortunately I don’t know anything about the MX922

I would say any printer is good for printing, the thing I would worry most about is if the paper you’re printing on is able to hold up to outdoor conditions and weather or if it will fade away after a couple months, or if you need to apply a clear coat to the stickers so they won’t fall apart after they get wet

Well I’ve printed plenty of glossy images so I would assume if the labels are Inkjet and glossy, as long as you let them dry before handling you should be fine. As far as weather goes, that would be another story. But I think you should be good to go

@@JordanHandwerker cool, ya it’s just tattoo aftercare products. Maybe a little moisture but no elements outside. Your shirts may be puckered cause you applied the transfer to a new shirt that hasn’t shrunk yet. So when you washed it the shirt shrunk but the Tranfer didn’t. Use ring spun cotton or tri blend shirts. That might help.

I’ll give that a try, most of the shirts I made have been with older shirts though so I’m thinking it’s either not getting hot enough on the press or not enough heat but I’ll try those options next for sure! Thanks for your input

The Canon iP8720 is a terrific printer at a reasonable price point. Unless you're a Pro, who makes a living as a photographer, it'll perform just about any task you "throw at it." If you that Pro.....take a peek at the Canon Pro2000 it's fabulous, but much more than what I need !!

In my original review I did show a print up close, I will admit it would all depend on the type of paper you want to see also, cheaper gloss paper looks cheap, but the colors are rich! I will say if you plan on doing prints I would try and find a sample pack of papers ( 1- gloss, 1- matte, 1- photoluster etc…) that way you can find the paper you like best. you don’t run into the issue of the Wi-Fi connection failing ( like I mentioned my printer had that happen, it look a little while to get it reconnected to the Wi-Fi setup ) also the printing time may be somewhat faster ( would need to test for that )

Half a printed page is a loss of ink costs and ai remember wincing watching my (old long gone..) HP printer churn out PARTIALLY printed pages due to lack of Data stability (lost connection to computer). After a few more pages lost like that, USB looks much sexier.

I think you have to hold the power button down for 3 blue blinks and than it should go into the search mode. Unfortunately it’s been a while since I set it up. I believe canon should have a pdf for the printer on their website

@denabowers5739 hmm I think you need the Canon printer app, I have that on my phone but also on my computer as the printer is wirelessly connected to it also. I believe you may need to reset it entirely and use the disc that came with the printer to reset it altogether

I set it per instructions of the transfer manufacturer, also using a thermometer to check temps but I’ll try making one on a lower temperature and see if that helps!

Easiest way is with a USB cord. If you’re doing it through Bluetooth you have to go through the settings on the Install CD and follow that prompts to the T other than that I have no real input on it. Bluetooth is a pain to setup unfortunately, I’m really not sure why canon made it as difficult as they did

@@EchoesofSinatra I’m sure you could? This is primarily a photo printer unfortunately there isn’t any way to scan/read photos or documents so you would definitely need to use a different scanner to get the image onto your computer

I literally hate this printer.I put brand new cartridges, printed one neutral photo 11x14 on photo paper… and it’s saying I’m out of ink after one print. There is no freaking way.

@@JordanHandwerker yeah. I barely ever use this printer and it’s just giving me so much trouble. I will say it’s great when it does work but I spend more time trying to get it to work than actually printing anything and that blows 😅

Kinda weird I really haven’t had any issues with it other than once having to reconnect it to the Wi-Fi. Has to be something with cleaning the print head and aligning it that’s giving you the error, I really can’t imagine it saying a new cartridge is out of ink
