Thanks. This one was the trickiest cause I feel like 'Prog metal' is getting too wide. Debating if I keep it as a separate group or just have them fall where ever it best fits. What do you think?

@@grafikmetal I also thought about this when I watched the Death Metal list, and after that, I watched the Prog list. In my opinion, I came to the conclusion that you should keep them separate because I feel like the Prog Metal list is for those who want to hear something more complex in terms of arrangement and stuff like that, no matter the genre. The other lists are for those who just want a good record within the genre, whether it's complex or not. And besides that, since I'm really enjoying these videos, the more recommendations you make, the better... hahahaha

Props for mentioning Lowen; their 2024 album deserves more praise than it got. Excellent stuff.. 👍 I would also like to mention another album, that was virtually overlooked in 2024: The Mantle: 'Violent Cosmic Fortune' Sublime progressive/technical death metal in the vein of early Cynic, Atheist and 'Human' era Death. Why this band goes unnoticed is beyond me; sure, they are not super original, but their instrumental mastery is off the charts! 👌

... only having 2 discs with a 7 year gap between and you change from a progressive rock instrumental band to an avant-garde progressive metal band with death metal growls... and you change members. That's a pretty good recipe for a slow start. Haha. Personally, I loved their debut. It made the list in 2017. But this new one is a struggle. Max (and new member Sky) are not the best singers. I love the creativity to evolve and the atmospheres on Cosmic Fortune are strong, but these are drastically different bands between albums. Which means, if that is the point? As we have seen with other bands that pull that off, only way to succeed is to pump out a lot of music in short amount of time. I think Max would have been better off just not singing. Their way better instrumentalist than 'song writers'. Just thoughts 🤷
