Just for anyone wondering, the Sabu mentioned here isn't the 90's Sabu. It's Cocoa Samoa, who used the Sabu The Wildman name for a little bit in the early 80's.

Actually, it's very unlikely he ever drastically changed his diet until he decided to lose weight. He probably maintained a similar diet, but was a victim of "middle age spread," because we all arrive at that age where the metabolism slows down. So yeah, the "until he ate everything in sight" remark is a fail.
