Watch Jerry take a deep breath before answering. He was clearly upset but, in the tradition of kayfabe, stayed right in character. In reality, he and Andy were friends and deeply admired each other.

I remember when I met Jerry, he did comment how he wasn't a fan of Jim Carrey as much. That's apparently because Jerry did not like Carrey staying in Kaufman mode 24/7.
@DeadPixel110510 сағат бұрын
Yeah, I remember reading about that around the time "Man on the Moon" came out. There was even drama on set, with Jerry Lawler confronting Jim Carrey and basically telling him that he's a weird jackass and wanted to slap the shit out of him for his antics. He thought Jim Carrey was taking things a bit too far.
@JnEricsonx7 сағат бұрын
@@DeadPixel1105 Pretty much. Especially as he was good friends with Andy, probably found it creepy AF to see Carrey being like that all the time. Like Olivier once said, "my dear boy, have you just tried ACTING?"

Keeping up the kayfabe was difficult at best. Some guys had to miss weddings, funerals, and rearrange scheduled plans just to keep up kayfabe. You can clearly tell Jerry's upset and he holds it together. So e wrestlers don't get enough credit for their acting chops. And the Academy for Best Actor goes to...... Jerry Lawler.

To the uninformed, Jerry Lawler and Andy Kaufman were the best of friends in real life and socialized at each other's house, but their public "feud" was completely staged. But the fake dislike continued even after Kaufman's passing because Kaufman wanted it that way.
