On v shaved patterns, you can have the v pointed forward for less rolling resistance on road and better wear, then flip and you’ll get more rolling resistance and wear but the v will grab at the terrain and “pinch” the dirt or debris inward giving you better forward traction, especially in dirt or mud.

Trenchers on my Revo, Stamped 4x4, and Xmaxx. For my Kraton 6s Backflips in summer and Trenchers in snow. On my 3.3 Rustler I run Badlands in the front, Trenchers in the rear.

So are pretty much all of them rubber with a foam interior these days? I'm just getting back into RC cars. I used to race 1/12th scale road racers on paved tracks set up in parking lots and on carpet tracks indoors back in the mid 1980s on foam tires. I think the type of cars we used is called a "pan" car nowadays. The complexity and truer to scaled down full size car suspensions available today are incredible and the improvements in electronics and especially the enormous energy density of LiPo batteries are almost mindblowing to a dinosaur like me. 😉 The brushed ESC I used back then was a $150 upgrade from using a servo to swipe a spring steel arm across a rheostat, which coupled with analog radio gear would often cause spontaneous random steering movements. Imagine driving a car that intermittently becomes suicidal. 150 bucks would pretty well wipe out a week's takehome pay for a lot of young people back then, so being able to buy something like a LaTrax for $120 completely RTR except for a few AA alkalines today is 🤯. The only down side is that there's such a huge number of choices it becomes overwhelming when you're trying to figure out what to buy. Unless you can afford to casually drop like $1000 on an X Maxx I suppose, in which case you're golden. 😉 No idea why I'm rambling. Was looking for videos on why our radios seem to have surprisingly little rotation on the steering control and got sidetracked by curiosity about tires and tire prep... Oh, KZbin... 😉😁👍

I got into the hobby space and just went for the 2wd vxl slash for its upgradability and mega amount of after market support. the 4wd option is also great if you want to upgrade power or have an easier time driving, but it is more complex and is harder to work on. Both are great options and the 2wd vxl slash is in the neighborhood of 300 ish dollars without battery and charger (you can get 2 batteries and a charger for around 150 assuming quality charger)

I love the proline trenchers. I run the lp version on my Rustler 4x4 and its good for offroad and on road. They also don't do too bad on a clay track.

the badlands are honestly great all around. I ran these in the winter and since it was cold, the dboot hoons never gripped up and the badlands are mega grippy tbh. Its soft compound is perfect for colder weather, i ran them between 4f and 40f. even the gold compound wouldnt hook up on a warm 55f day so i guess it has to be pretty warm for them to hook up.

Great video. I love the compare and contrasting as it's far more useful than some other videos simply saying "this tire is the best." I'm new to this, and I've already made a car and radio purchase based on your videos, and now some tires.

For my Tekno MT410 I prefer the original badlands 3.8 pattern that you have shown not the newer MX38. For 2.8 size I don't mind either versions , I bought the MX28 when they came out for my Pro-line Pro-MT 2wd monster truck I put the MX28 in the front and the narrower badlands in the rear. Perfect setup for bashing in the wild stuff. You can see in my KZbin Icon that I have the original badlands front and rear but i changed that when the MX28 came out it was nice to see the difference.

Ok my local track I run Aka Impact Red Inserts on my SC, its packed dirt track that gets pretty loose the more you run. But I also adjust my suspension tremendously to fit.

I have a 1:10 scale Traxxas TRX 4 Sport. Long story short I romped the shit out of it, blew the motor, and gutted it servo and all. I now want to take the advantage of the hitch and pull something I don't mind mudding, trailing ect. I'm here for tires though and am wondering whats a good upgrade.

Great tire video 😎👍 Loomy, the most common word in tire descriptions. WTH is loomy lol. I'm assuming loose dirt but even google cant confirm that.
@RazorRC4 жыл бұрын
it's "loamy", and honestly this is before my time, but I think it just means a loose, fluffy, type of dirt. I think anything without a hardpack surface is loamy, it's all soft, loose dirt.

Could a larger tire (in diameter) potentially make an RC car faster?
@chrismooneyham52792 жыл бұрын
Its just like changing the gears cause it does change your ratio. Bigger tires = Gearing up. Smaller tires = Gearing down
@calebnation61552 жыл бұрын
A taller tire effectively changed the gear ratio so if you have the power, yes it’ll make it faster
