I've been cashing in on your video to build a shark,I made the mistake of starting with an RD 2.0 so not going entirely smoothly, gave all my bmx bikes to kids who will enjoy them. Wish I could send you a couple of photos.

Is it worth it, bro? What are the alternative products or contenders in this price range that can offer a similar experience (I mean the whole kit and add-ons, hop-ups/upgrades)? I'm a bit broke and tight on budget 😅, so I want to upgrade from my old D5S but want it to be worth every penny.
@SeanLewisMedia3 ай бұрын
I totally hear you on that man! My suggestion would be to get a Yokomo RD 2.0. Everybody really loves them and their base configuration is so solid. Then if you ever wanted when your budget allowed you to, you could add something like the shark direct drive steering system and have that benefit without having to buy the full shark kit. You could also add a CLSD which would also help you get more performance out of it too. It’s definitely unfortunate how expensive everything is, but there’s some good options still👍🏼

He m8, my Shark lower deck came with a single 20mm piece of aluminium, it has two screw holes and a slot in the middle? What is it for and should there be two of them? Hope i managed to describe it ok 😅 .......
@SeanLewisMedia8 ай бұрын
I believe what your looking at the the rear battery stop. It mounts right in the center of the chassis. About 3/4 back from the front right at the back of where the battery goes. You should see the two screw holes, the are long and allow you to slide it back and fourth depening on where you want it set. I hope that helps and answers your question! Let me know:)

did all the small screws come with the kit? asking because i dont have a starter kit just figuring to buy all the parts to form the shark final form without having to buy a starter chassis kit if not needed
@SeanLewisMedia21 күн бұрын
I believe the majority of the screws came from the original yokomo kit, I have changed out some to match better but youll take a lot from the kit. You could see if anyone makes a Yokomo Screw kit though and that might be a simple way to get all the hardware. I know amain sells car specific screw kits. Youll also need to source turnbuckles which isnt hard but one more thing to remember. You might want to do a price breakdown to see build cost vs buying the final form pre built. Extra shipping cost on sourcing all the parts might make the cost similar to just purchasing the fully built car from super-g, you could also avoid a lot of headaches potentially. But either way I hope this helped!
@jaimechon121 күн бұрын
@@SeanLewisMedia thanks for the info! yeah super g sells it for 1299 and its on backorder i pieced everything seperately and it came out to about 1000-1100 minus the "screws" on their website so kinda weighing out my options which is why i was so curious if i need a base chassis kit at 200 that would add to the total cost which would make it about the same price lol... i wish i was in cali i would just buy everything in person and i wouldnt buy the wrong stuff lol.... keep up the vids thanks!
@SeanLewisMedia21 күн бұрын
@@jaimechon1 That totally makes sense man! Yeah the big draw for me starting at the base kit was being able to upgrade slowly but if you can and want to build the whole shark than ya it makes sense to skip it. Thanks for watching!

Can you do this with a yokomo SD LTS or is this conversation only for the RD
@SeanLewisMedia4 ай бұрын
I believe it should work fine as far as the chassis lines up but you would have to do a little messing around to get the LTS battery setup on the top plate. You could email the crew at super-G and they should have super solid answers for you to be safe. The fun think is that most of these cars and parts will work together so theres for sure hope that you could get it figured out. You could start with the Rhino Racing Shark DDSS steering system and work your way back as you go over time. That would honestly be where I would start with the build, Yokomo LTS, add the RR DDSS and you would have a absolute unit! Hope this helps!

If you don’t mind me asking roughly how much would something like this cost to build ?
@SeanLewisMedia6 ай бұрын
This build is probably around $1200 to get to the point I’m at now. But it started as a rtr and I pieced it together over about 6 to 9 months. You can get started with a really good comp setup for around $700 if you’re willing to run a less crazy chassis. The main money draw is really in the electronics from my experience.
@NorthLincsRatting7 ай бұрын
just out of interest, would a rd1.0 kit just bolt straight onto the shark chassis plate.
@SeanLewisMedia7 ай бұрын
I believe so, but am not 100% sure. The shark changes some placements of the transmission so it might not on the rear end. I do think the fronts match exactly though.

Yokomo uses 4.3mm ball studs for the bottom shock ends while for every other ball stud is 4.8mm.

@SeanLewisMedia11 ай бұрын
I believe it does, but something about the length of the top plate changes. If that combo includes the adjustable top brace it should be ok. Id still suggest emailing super g to ask though that way you dont run into any potential issues

What is a rhino racing shark?? Can someone explain?
@SeanLewisMedia8 ай бұрын
So the Rhino Racing shark is a conversion for the Yokomo RD/SD line of chassis, they also have conversions for reved chassis. You can buy a complete rhino racing shark now as well. It comes as a complete roller from the Super-G RC Drift website. You can also see the chassis options on their website👍🏼

@@stnefan6923 If your newer and looking for a first car that is a whole package I would suggest looking at the “MST RMX 2.5 RTR”. That would be a great car to learn with and it’s the best option for a ready to run in this current market. It would get you started without to many issue and you could upgrade as you learn.
