The windshield wiper with a rope is what my boyfriend and I did in the late 70's when he wipers stripped on his 64 Comet Caliente! Worked like a charm!

I had my girlfriend with me in the late 70's when the wiper motor on my old Dodge box van went out. I tied a rope to it like in the video and she operated it while I drove. Teamwork! But I found out something on the long drive home. If you leave the wiper blade at an angle that's pointing to about 2:00 o'clock, it will catch the rain and leave a clear spot from about 11:00 o'clock to 2:00 o'clock that you can see through to drive. We didn't need the rope after finding that out.
