Love your videos, I have one question though. If I rig an 80 foot leader, how do I reel the 80 feet of leader once I get to the swivel? Once I get to the swivel, the weight and the swivel are in the way once they get to the rod guides.

BY HAND ON HAND..WATCH THE END OF THE VIDEO HE DEMONSTRATES IT..BOTTOM LINE..THIS RIG IS WEIRD AND FOOLISH
@ACSl8terDaB-Izer Жыл бұрын
Yeah not the rig for me but I like anyone that shares their experience with others. This doesn’t seem to dissimilar to a free floating heavy torpedo sinker above a swivel and a standard 3 to 4 foot leader. Seems like it could accomplish the same thing. In theory the weight hits bottom and the bait with leader can continue floating up with the current a little ways until you stop letting the line out

Just came across your channel , great stuff . Question: don’t the experts always say to go with braid backing than small shot of mono to terminal tackle? Just wondering why you like mono all the way for bottom stuff . Gracias!!
@RickysFishingAdventures3 жыл бұрын
I only use braid for deeper water fishing, for bottom fishing you need to lock the drag and pull hard till the fish is off the bottom, you loose way less fish with mono because mono will stretch braid wont so it my pop most of the time on the knot, also mono work break easy against the rocks like braid would !

Don’t agree with mono for bottom fishing because it has too much stretch. Also, 5 bucks says I can catch a limit of grouper before this rig even gets tied. Lastly, since you have 40-60 ft of leader are you proposing I hand line in a 20 pound grouper or larger the last 40-60 feet? Good way to lose a finger.

why do we worry about losing our hooks more than our sinker? Sinkers cost way more. I would think loseing a few feet of line and a hook is more cost affective. especially those heavy sinkers. I'm broke (Estoy peloa mi Hermano) so I rather lose a hook than the sinker. lol

Question What are your recommendations for my setup. I have 700 yards of 80lb braid with a 40ft of 80lb mono topshot. Do I add the low LB swivel, bead, then high poundage swivel to my topshot then add 25 feet of leader? I am fishing in 100 to 200 feet of water. I am bottom fishing for mutton, mangroves, red-snapper, groupers, and amberjacks.

How do you deal with getting all that leader back in the boat when you catch a fish? (I wrote that then saw the end of the video where you hand line it in). I’m up in the Panhandle and we use a relatives short leaders for red snapper and knocker rigs for grouper. We don’t have mutton snapper up here. I’ve never seen anyone up here using a 40-60 ft leader, but I may try it. Thanks for the video, I’m glad I found your channel.

If you dont have much current, a 5 to 10 feet will do, strong currents you want to do this 💪
@ccayden54173 жыл бұрын
Hi! I enjoy the video. In the video, you emphasise that the leader line should be around 40-60feet. If fishing shallow, do still using this long leader line? And also, does this concept apply to high low rig set up as well?
@RickysFishingAdventures3 жыл бұрын
How shallow you fish? if you fish 20,30 feet i would reduce the leader by half , also reduce the leader size if current is not strong !

@JrodProductions10004 жыл бұрын
I'm really confused. If you have 20 to 40 ft of leader line how do you even reel that in if you're using a swivel? The swivel that goes to the main line will hit the eye of the rod and then you can't reel anymore. So if you reel it in to the swivel and you have 20 to 40 ft of leader line, how do you even get the fish when it's 20 to 40 ft in the water? I guess I'm not understanding how that works. Also how can you even cast if you have 20 to 40 ft of leader line, unless you are not using a swivel attached to the main line.
@RickysFishingAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Lol

Once you get to the sinker you reel the 40,60 by hand the fish should be floating already, you dont cast man. Sounds like you saying the rig won't work 🤔

I wonder if the long leader technique would work on a bridge in the keys. you would need to use the dental floss technique so you can take off the sinker and be able to reel the fish up, or maybe u can use the 3 way rig like u have here and just handline the fish up. use a long 20 or 30 foot leader and just drop the sinker over the railing, your bait will go back under the bridge in the shadow. use a nice bait likoe mojarra pinfish or finger mullet so you don't get bites from small fish. i think that would be a cool idea.
