The best part is, there is more content for at least three more anime seasons. The movie goes from 138 to 151, 160. Season four will start at chapter 152. The manga ends at 281. Showing you that there are plenty more manga material to adapt.

Fun fact in the OP for these episodes they animated little snippets from manga chapters that never got adapted into the anime. Like Kaguya and Miyuki going to the movies together which happens in the very first volume, and Kaguya cosplaying for Miyuki which is a very popular manga chapter that was supposed to be in season 3 and disappointed a lot of readers when it wasn't.

@@redmustangredmustang not really, this series just likes to give nods to the manga readers who’ve supported it for so long. Which I appreciate, because I’m one of them. With the snippets of Ishigami’s Christmas Eve, some of us know what happens and some of us will have to wait and see. The little Maki flash with her travel is a nod to the manga readers also, because I doubt they’ll animate those chapters.

Damn, I can really tell that you're fallen head over heels for this show. Understandable, I can't stop grinning till my cheeks hurt whenever I see love is war on screen. And I really felt a sudden burst of emotion when kaguya said " I just want a normal love"... Like I can't help but remember the last few chapters of the manga and the journey we saw to get there. Shed a few tears, I too am deeply in love with this show PS: I pray to the anime gods that Oshi no Ko is given this much love in its anime adaptation, cuz I am even more head over heels for that show

Your understanding of this arc is already really good. So much people misunterstood it, thinking it was "a step back", but it is indeed a step further towards them being a couple. Kaguya has to deal, as you said, with her insecurities, about her not deserving miyuki. We could already see this during the confession in season 3. And the same goes for miyuki. Because of all of this, how important is this arc, and how well written it is, it is my fav arc in kaguya.

You are after all two different individual carrying your lifetime worth of baggage.

100% agreed, I loved season 3 ending cause both acknowledged their feelings for the other in the most fun and over the top way, great for the romcom side of the show. The cultural festival was perfectly built as the natural turning point after all the sketches in which we also saw their feelings for the other growing deeper and deeper till it got so big that they just went "fuck it, i'll confess", finally getting over their mind games. Still, due to how romcoms are it wasn't a surprise that despite all of that hey didn't start a relationship right away, but I was completely blown away by this quite unexpected but great follow up, great writing imo cause the "no-relationship-yet" wasn't just the usual romcom trope used as an excuse to drag the story, instead it was used as an actual plot point to advance it and go deeper into, acknowledging that, in fact, neither were ready for the relationship just yet. And that's where the drama side of the story gets the spotlight, cause since those mind games were on of their main dynamics, it leaves a great question, what happens once they are over them? Well, as explicitely told, masks fall off, showing that the reason for them to not be ready and go through all those mind games were their insecurities pressured them to only show their best versions, which might sound good for a loving relationship, a la 60/40% relationship rule, but their case is different, they weren't giving 60 but like 120% cause both felt like they didn't deserve to be loved, so being vulnerable or flawed was a no-no and that's just exhausting. One of the best things in a healthy relationship is that when you spend time together you can have as much fun as you want, but also chill when you are in that mood, cause those relationships create a safe space to be vulnerable and find intimacy and comfort. But that requires trust and honesty, when that's not a foundation, then the couple is usually doomed, cause neither can relax around the other and that's was where Kaguya and Shirogane were going if they didn't solve their actual biggest issue and root of the mind games, those insecurities. Both felt like their worst versions were their actual real selves and their best versions were just masks, but they had to understand that that's not exactly the case, they aren't mask but layers, just like everyone else has, everyone can be their worst version on a bad day and their best one on another and that's okay, they are still being themselves, and all of those real selves deserve to be loved, and that's whay they finally get, they understand that they can allow themselves to be vulnerable and get comfort when they are at their lowest, and they can also honestly have fun and be over the top when that's the mood.

Spoilers: Could have been handled better though. The writing was awful, and that's the worst part about it. Does she have split personalities? No, the show goes out of its way to explicitly show that they're masks that she wears. It's not really her. Ok, so she's been lying the whole time, and had no character development, and just decided to wake up and be a terrible person again to those that she cares about? And then, what, she goes back to being regular Kaguya again at the end? It's mentioned in the last part that it's supposed to be a bit of both, something that Kaguya has. But she purposefully doesn't show any progress, and instead reverts to her older self again? So nothing that ever happened between all of the club members and everything they've been through had any effect on her, and she's been putting up a front. But she actually does have those feelings... but she doesn't. It's contradictory. If she had those feelings then she wouldn't be acting that way, and wouldn't have reverted to her old self. That's reverting her character progress. I understand what the author was going for, but it was so messed up that it just looks like they wanted to throw whatever at the wall to try and get some drama going. The Miyuki stuff wasn't really delved into at all either. It's like that was skipped over as quickly as possible, and wasn't entirely fleshed out. It didn't even have an impact on him, because he stayed the same way even through the end. We got glimpses that he's actually sorta depressed and angry. But he never shows that to Kaguya. And Kaguya shows too much of hers, to the point of her entirely becoming that part of herself that she doesn't like.

@@BigFry9591 I think you misunderstood a lot of things (to not say the entire arc). Firstly, no these personalities aren't just masks, they made it clear that the "ice kaguya" side became a part of her. Because of her education and to protect herself, this "persona" became a part of her. It is said in the 2nd episode at 2:24 and kaguya said it herself in the 3rd episode at 21:13. Both of these personalities are part of her. At the end she doesn't "go back to regular kaguya" (there is no regular kaguya to begin with), she accepts every part of her, instead of hiding one as she was these last years. Why did she begin to hide it? S3 ep 13 during her monologue she clearly said that the council had a huge impact on her, making her realize how bad her personality is. So yes the council affected her, it is the exact reason why she has the personality we know of her in s1-2-3. Then, is this arc as you say, "reverting her character progress" by bringing back ice kaguya? Absolutely not. Because in the end, we have a kaguya that accepts and show herself entirely to the one she loves for the first time. Same goes to miyuki. This is not reverting the progression, it's progression. She was scared to show this part of herself to miyuki, in this arc she wants it to be accepted. It ends up that miyuki already like this part and kaguya doen't need him to be someone he's not either. We finish with both of them fully accepting themselves which was never a thing before. And again, it's not something that needs to be analyzed lot to understand. It's explicitly said in the arc. He's just unsure of what to do once kaguya saw his gift that shows he is dar from perfect. Very insecure about himself but then she proves him that she isn't disappointed at all and that he doesn't have to be always at 2000%. Idk if you've read the manga but after this arc there is several scenes where we see that he changed on this point. It's juste that we don't see as much change as kaguya on the moment.

​@Brian Wahinya I find the comedy harder hitting in Kaguya-sama, but I can see how Oregairu has more of a linear storyline since the beginning for the romance and character drama, so could appeal to people that way. As Kaguya-sama starts off more episodically so may take a bit to pick up for some people. But yeah, I would say both series are the higher quality rom coms and couldn't go wrong with either.

My heart stopped seeing just the ending of the opening. The hand closing the book has some recognizable features: The subtle nail polish with a little gem on the ring finger that Kaguya wore trying to get Miyuki to notice. And a silver ring on her left ring finger. For those who didn't know: If you're engaged you wear the ring on your right hand's ring finger. Left hand ring finger is where you wear it if you're married.

Honestly pissed at Kaguya this whole arc. She switched up on Shirogane out of the blue then she started being mean right away. I get that she wants to show her real self but she didn't have to hurt him that much. Saying stuff like I'd do it (kiss) to anyone. Shirogane worked a lot for the surprise for Kaguya during the school festival for him to be treated this way. She hurt him through words and actions just to make him do what she wants. Her pride can't also allow her to just be honest with him. Yeah Shirogane is kinda spineless but does it warrant the amount of emotional damage Kaguya dealt him? I don't think so. They'll be more honest and real with each other so ig this is fine.
