Thanks for explaining these. This is crucial and I was looking for madrock rope.

As always. Great video. I use the Oplux with the madrock (I’m not telling anyone to do so) and it’s worked great.

I did as well. Then my family out voted me after I explained the differences in them all lol ✊🏾

you guys get ANY slipping with that setup? I'm actually trying to get to a full ascend/rappel with the 8 on the oplux, but would be a huge bonus if the safeguard works ok with it... I would use an autoblock on both 8 and MR
@Blade-mh3mi3 жыл бұрын
@@DrewWarren I use a 8 also with oplux. No issues.
@DrewWarren3 жыл бұрын
@@Blade-mh3mi awesome. Are you ascending with it as well? I’m finding that if I use a ropeman just during each move (one-sticking), I don’t have to adjust it as much and can get the tether much higher per move. Are you doing anything similar?
@Blade-mh3mi3 жыл бұрын
@@DrewWarren no, just to go down. Keep in mind, a 8, you will fly down the tree if your not careful. If you let your brake hand go, your go long straight down in a hurry. How familiar with a 8 and rigging it are you?

It seems like it might be a bit more convenient and you would leave the gun at home and focus on navigating the forest and how you want to go about rigging rappels and such.

Have you used the madrock lifeguard? Having a hard time finding the safeguard.TIA
@ISaddleHunt3 жыл бұрын
I have not used the lifeguard sir. The lifeguard comes equipped with a spring that will keep the cam open on the rope if there is no tension on the rope where the rope can slide through easier. It’s made more for a lead climber so they can work the rope easier. For what we do, you will want the springless safeguard sir. It’s not spring loaded to stay open without tension. That’s the best I can explain it sir.

Hey bro im getting my gear together to be one sticking next season and ended up on this video for ropes. Are you still running the Canyon Elite? Im having mixed feeling on the Elite vs c-iv.
@ISaddleHunt2 жыл бұрын
To be honest, you really can’t go wrong with either one. This past season I ran with the canyon elite. The season prior the c-iv. Both are solid. Good luck sir! Stick a giant! 👊🏽

Just getting into saddle hunting and want to rappel down instead of climbing down the one sticks and aider in the dark. Where can I buy the maxim canyon elite in 35'?

www.doublesteps.com sir. Eastern Woods Outdoors has everything you’ll need. Good luck this season! 👊🏽

Once again great info and I am a sinner as well using oplux with my mad rock. I'm also interested in the difference in weights because if the ol lady finds out about my transgressions, she gonna demand I get in spec 🤣

😂✊🏾 definitely feel you! I’ll update the video description with the ropes weights by Monday sir. Have some family things happening but will for sure do it!
@chrisfragnito3 жыл бұрын
I believe the maxim rope is about 40% heavier than the sterling. That's about a pound difference with these lengths. Seems like a lot.
@ISaddleHunt3 жыл бұрын
I honestly didn’t weigh them to see what the actual difference was. Its pretty negligible to be honest sir. I seen staggs in the wild has posted that 40’ of maxim is .5lbs heavier than the Sterling.

Very interesting, ropes are always a great conversation topic as it relates to saddle hunting. I know its extra work but links might be helpful to some. Im curious about the weight comparison of those 3? I dont use any of those, but definitely use 9mm with the ole Mad Rock. Great video bud!

I’ll update the description with links to each rope when I get back home bro. Good idea about the weights. I’ll add that in description as well! Miigz for the feedback brutha!

Canyon Elite looks a little stiff in the video. Is Canyon Elite really as supple and flexible as Oplux?

what are the weights of the ropes?
@ISaddleHunt3 жыл бұрын
It would depend upon how much footage of rope you have, but that being said, the oplux and maxim elite are comparable in weight, with ci-v being slightly heavier than the others but not by much.
