Right on Cpt Sain, following your guidance keep my shit tight, even tho I loss most of my gain from 2nd half of 2020, however, my cap isn’t going any lower because of these safe IRA play, diversity, high risks high rewards but like you said thousands of time over and over, this ain’t no get rich over night game. if your investing experience is less than 10 years start with 5-6 portfolio. don't bet big on any single company, learn the process first.. initially diversification is not that bad, it really worked for me in initial years. remember that protection of capital is a must

He talks about putting $250 every other week into his Roth IRA. However if you can actually swing it, getting that 6k into your Roth ASAP into the new year is the way to go. The earlier you can invest you money, the better. Obviously if you can't do that then making sure you put that $250 in every other week is good. Wbatever it takes to max out your IRA.

@@chriscruz4035 fortunately you can still make 2021 contributions to your IRA all the way up to the next years tax deadline. There's no penalty for not making the max contributions, but for your own retirement future you want to be striving to get that max tax advantaged contribution in.

It doesn't have to be invested but since time in the market is your friend your usually better off getting it invested quickly. Me personally I invest more heavily into index's and dividend stocks in my Roth so I want to get the money invested asap.

I have a question Chris I sold a stock for a loss but then I rebought the same stock for a better price which triggered a wash sale. I brought the stock but it increased my cost basis. I don’t get why ? So do I have to wait 31 days to sell the stock again ? Also why did they increase my average cost ? I already took a loss, now they making it worst by increasing my average

The only way the cost basis increases is if you still had stock and bought more at a higher price. Or when you bought back the stock was higher than the price when you sold. You'd have to call your broker to find out otherwise

a wash sale in this case will incur a penalty they will add the amount you lost when you sold to your repurchase price to keep you from claiming your loss on your taxes. and you do have to wait a month to repurchase to avoid it. if you sold more shares than you repurchased you need to wait for that month and then when you rebuy you will avoid the penalty again.

@@unityaboriginelove6595 if you sold a stock at a loss. You gotta be careful when you are cost averaging down for example: I bought 40 shares of NIO with a cost average of $32. Five of those shares I bought for $45. When I sold my 40 shares at $38 then turned around and got back into NIO 2 days later buying back 40 shares at a cheaper price I triggered a wash sale on the 5 shares. Those 5 shares lost me $35 (5 shares times the $7 difference) this $35 was added to my purchase price when I got back in. So instead of me getting back in at a cheaper price I gotta factor in that $35 I lost on those 5 shares with my new position in the stock. I avoid this by not selling at a loss and/or not jumping in and out of plays that I cost average down in.

Do you guys know the benefit of a Roth??? A Roth IRA is a pretax investment account, your money is taxed going in, therefore upon withdrawal it is untaxed…..Chris you gotta break the IRA down. There is no difference from a Vanguard IRA account and a Fidelity IRA, they are exactly the same. The 401k is king!!! It’s free money from your company, max it out if you can afford to. A Roth is great, but the 401 is king.
