For anyone using a hyper 212 evo, It is enough to cool a 5800x3d. But, you may need some changes to get good temp. Here 5 steps I did to lower my temps. 1- use enough thermal paste (better too much than too little) 2- have a good airflow in the case and go for the positive air pressure. (More intake than exhaust) 3-add an exhaust fan to the 212 evo tower cooler. It lower the temp further by a few degrees. 4- set the fan curve to 50% bellow 60°, 75% at 65° and 100% at 70°. At 70° and higher, the cpu will work fine but will throttle down. Keeping it bellow 70° let it keep the boost clock. 5- use PBO2 tuner or use the bios setting to set the curve optimizer to undervolt the cpu. It is really easy to do and there are many tutorial arround. The simplest way I found is to use pbo2 tuner or activate the setting in bios. I set my curve to -20 on all core and did somes test and it is stable. Stability may vary for each 5800x3d but the majority seem to be stable at -20. I hope it can help other with the same cpu/cooler 🙂 With these 5 steps, my temp are really good and my hyper 212 evo black edition cooler work perfectly. I got a -10 average less temp than before in all scenario.

Pretty much spot on here. I have a Noctua NH-D15 Chromax Black Edition on my 5800X and it seems to do amazing. I know Noctua is expensive but their products are just top notch imo. Their fans push so much air and are so quite. They also offer customizing options for their coolers and fans to change the colors to match your build/theme which I enjoy. My build is a blue/black theme so being able to purchase blue/black heatsink covers for my NHD15 and blue/black Chromax fans just make it all look really nice. Definitely on the high side tho. But with that cooler my 5800X boost as high as 5.1ghz in gaming and around 4.75-4.85ghz when under heavy load on all cores. Low 30s C idle, mid to low 50s C gaming, and around 65-68C under Prime 95 torture test. I think case airflow also plays a huge part in what size cooler you can get away with and how good they can perform. Often times I think if people are having cooling issues it’s their case airflow and not necessarily their cooling being not enough or a combo of both. Good airflow with any of these recommendations here is more than enough for a great experience. That new Deepcool Cooler looks super nice.

Also consider the mounting system, ammount of wires, required headers, and extra RGB hardware and software... I got the EK 280 DRGB for my 5800X (280 top mount exhaust to try to get a bit more case airflow to help cool the GPU). Hope to have it delivered today! It really stood out for a few often overlooked reasons; 1- It doesn't use the stock AM4 "2 clip mount", but it does use the stock backplate and all 4 of it's mounting points individually (also it's tooless after initial installation) 2- The real killer feature for me is it only uses one ARGB header and doesn't require any special software or controller. Instead it can run off just the motherboard (ASUS Sync in my case) yet it will still work with most controllers/ hardware and software. I can add an ARGB/ fan controller later if I decide. I also really dig the look. I plan on using a $20 Amazon 3-pack of blue LED (non RGB) fans for front intake. 3 into 1 PWM header with a splitter and call it done for now.

What about a cooler for the 5700x?

I've been building comps for 26ish years, I worked in the industry for a good 15 years. After I built my I7 6700k/TitanXP build I stopped paying attention to the stuff because I had a nasty habit of always upgrading and wasting money. Well after 6-7 years of not paying attention to the industry It was crazy how many options there are out there now. What started off as a graphics card upgrade turned into a new build. I went with the 5800X3D and it obviously blows my I7 out of the water. But I did not do any research into thermals with this chip and the 150W heatsink/fan I got for it was nowhere close to keeping the thing cool and would thermal throttle easily. I didn't want to spend a lot so I went with the ID Frostflow 280 and it keeps it 10C below the max temp of the CPU under full load which is fine by me. I can't imagine the top end CPU's, I mean this thing is crazy fast compared to what I'm coming from.

It is so small it will literally fit in any case no matter how slim it is! I would reccommend it to anyone with not a lot of room in the PC nor budged for more expensive ones.

Building a PC for a really hot environment. Our rooms get as high as 35-40°C in the worst days of summer, and I really wanted the CPU not to get too much past the 80°C even when running games at full power. Wondering if it is worth it to get a mid or even high end cooler, even if using a 5600X, just to keep the thermals extra under control. Deepcool's AK620 is actually inside my budget (if it means keeping the CPU extra cooler so it can last longer, I'm willing to pay it). Just sad it doesn't come with ARGBs fans....

What are you defining "overkill" as? I have a 280mm AIO on my 5600x and with CPU burner in MSI afterburner, It instantly reaches 81-85C. I have an EVGA 280mm AIO. I personally like to see lower temps. My CPU is overclocked to 4.7 GHz with 1.35-1.4 volts.

Dont use an air cooler for a 5800x. I had a gammaxx on mine and it was still hitting 90c. I'm using a 240mm aio currently but it will still hit 70-80c im about to upgrade to a 360mm aio.

The Vetroo seems to be under rated. Jay's 2cents tested it against a240 aio, on a open bench, with a 5900x, and it actually beat the 240. Look it up at his KZbin sight.

Hi. Do you think these cooler for 5900X would be enogh? Deepcool Gammaxx 400 Pro Deepcool Gammaxx 400 Ex Deepcool Ak400 zero dark Plus Or should I choose some beefy coolers like: Deepcool Ak500 Deepcool Ak620. or it's better to go with liquid AIO coolers like Deepcool LS500, Deepcool castle 240 instead.

Hey Jason. Love the channel. When I pick a cooler on pcpartpicker, it often tells me that there might be a problem with the cooler and the memory. I have tried several and all of them have that warning. Is there anywhere that I can check on this with having to guesstimate?

Same, but we just gotta admit it's a luxury product. I pursue silence in my pc, but I fully acknowledge that not everyone needs it. Someone talked me into trying Arctic case fans, but I think I'll get back to the higher tier fans next time.

If this vid came up a week ago I'd have probably made a different choice. I've deffo gone overkill with the FUMA2 + Noctura NT H1 paste for my 5600X. Still zero buyers regret. PBO enabled and I don't expect this to break a sweat with anything I ask it to do!

Thoughts on using my old Hyper 212 with a noctua fan for the 5800x3d?
@kayomototo Жыл бұрын
I have a hyper 212 evo black edition with my 5800x3d (upgraded from 3600 and wanted to keep my cooler) currently, I do around 35 idle temps, around 40 when browsing, around 50/60 when gaming and browsing on second screen. I did a stress test with cpu-z and my temps was staying around 70. I only have the stock fan right now but I will soon do a push/pull on the hyper 212 by adding an exhaust fan and add more fans to my case (right now I have 2 intake and one exhaust, gonna upgrade to 3 intake and 2 exhaust). I can do an update after i upgrade my fan setup. I will probably redo the thermal paste because I think I didn't use enough paste. Right now I think the temp are good.
@camy252camy3 Жыл бұрын
@@kayomototo funnily enough, I got the cpu last week and did my install and testing last night. Around the same temps idle and between 60-70c when testing with Heaven Engine on extreme setting. I was getting consistent 90c on Cinebench R20 though. They say this is normal for high stress scenarios but a little toasty for my liking. Fortunately Cinebench isn't too representative of real world situations like gaming. Overall very happy with my bench scores so far though. Still in process of tweaking my case and cpu fan curves to improve things more.

Would you happen to have an excel sheet like that for older gen ryzen cpu's? I wanna overclock my ryzen 7 2700X, and I got a high-end air cooler, but am thinking I might as well get a decent AIO cooler, for a bit of future proofing, when upgrading CPU's and overclocking that.
