I really like the Mag seal feature! You asked what I might think another reel in the $100 range is. The tsunami Shield and guard offer 10 to 13 seals in the reel. Very good seller where I work. I really like the LT concept for Daiwa however, the Shield is out selling the Fuego by far.

I have a 3k on a 7'6" St.Croix Mojo inshore medium light and it's an amazing setup for flats fishing on my boat or on my kayak. Never get tired of casting and very well balanced. Solid reel for the money. I have a Nasci 2500 as well and I would recommend the Fuego over the Nasci.

I have a 4000 saltist back bay on a 7 foot medium st croix yak mojo... I wanted a medium heavy but the local tackle shop didn't have anything I liked.. It's balanced amazingly considering its 4000 on a medium rod

One thing I'd like to ad, magseal reels are only waterproof under normal fishing conditions. They are not waterproof if you dunk them, water will get in from the bottom and sideplate. The Saltiga is dunk proof but that's an $800 reel,

Normally if u dunk it itll be fine it's just the long duration under water like 5 or more seconds that's when water starts to seep in

Use some marine jelly on those seams and it will drastically improve the reels ability to be dunked.

I was told that the 2500 did not have carbon fiber drag washer like the 3000 size does. How does the felt drag washers hold up compared to the carbon drag washers? Is there a noticeable difference?

do you think a Daiwa Ballistic LT 5000 that weighs 8.1 oz and has a line capacity of Mono(lb/yd): 16/250, 20/195, 25/140 would be a good fit for a 9ft Medium Bass Pro ocean master thats 15-30 lbs. 1 - 3 oz. or should I go up in size to a 6000 Ballistic thats 11.1oz Mono 20/270 25/225 30/160.

The Spool sucks on that reel. It has a sharp ridge on it. I had two. Every time I'd cast, you can hear the line rip across that spool lip. Mine would catch the 20lb braid (Bass fishing)... Shortening my casts. Very abrasive on the line. I love the reel otherwise. Why they dont put a nice rounded bevel on the spool like on the Smimanos is beyond me. Wish Daiwa would fix that. Until then, I stick with the Shimanos. I do still use the Daiwa Tatulas as my Baitcasters though. Great reels.

If weight matters, the lightness of the Fuego is worth the flex. The BG is a heavy and stiffer. I like the BG better and own both.

We don't recommend any ML rods for soft plastics because you'll need more power to get good hooksets... I'd go with at least Medium or MH depending on the rod manufacturer.

For all my Penn fans out there, the penny fierce is a great reel for about $70. I’ve owned several in the past, you can’t destroy them if you try. Have good drag. Only downside is they are very heavy

Thanks, duly noted regarding the weight! Even the PENN Pursuit III handles the Texas coast 3-5 times a year pretty well for the casual saltwater angler such as myself and it's fairly light.

Agreed on the Penn. we fish 200 days out of the year and outfit most of our rods with Penn reels for our salt trips. One bail problem over two years and I’m sure it had to do with us beating them up. Cool technology on this diawa but hard to pull us away from the tried and true war tested Penn Battle and Fierce line. Of course just my opinion.

Gulp_Man102 depends on what you’re doing, bg for live baits or larger artificials the Fuego is a bit lighter better for artificials. The bg is probably more rugged and stiff but heavier than the fuego

IMO the best reel under $US100 is the Daiwa Exceler. So much more value and you don't need magseal which you'd have to replace after 3-5yrs. Meaning you can service your own Exceler reel. I have all the bells n whistles in terms of Daiwa rods and reels. I had the Fuego, sold it after a few months. Too much body flex which you'll get with the Exceler as well on bigger fish. I'd rather get a cheaper, non -magseal reel so please people have a good think. I recommend aluminium alloy bodies like the Kix, Lexa, Tierra or Certate in the LT range for saltwater fishing. If it's only light freshwater stuff, go with the composite bodies.

I think your looking at a 6000 BG for that application .....30 to 60 lb amberjack with 1/4 lb jigs is too much for the fuego 4000 your going to get flex

Why didn't they seal the body? The magseal will *not* protect against a dunking, only a splash at best. Magseal is hype if you don't protect the gears as well!

The Fuego has been known for flex in the stem due to its composite body. The BG is rock solid but so much heavier. I would use Fuego for artificials since it’s so light. Both are awesome reels

From my reading, If you use lighter line and don't crank the drag, the Fuego is a lot better. If you use heavy line and crank the drag it will flex.

I would not recommend this reel. The weight and drag is nice but it has a fatal flaw. The reel bail design causes the line to get pinched in the bail joint by the line roller. This causes the line to be trapped and results in dangerous non-casts (a hook, lure flying back at you) and wind knots (has to cut the line). I had two of these reels and had to retire both them. Buyer beware - look for a different economy reel (Fierce) or spend the money on a Stradic or Smoke.

Mitch Mc I have fished these reels extensively and not had that issue. I assume you checked the tightness and your roller bearing. That is annoying as I have had that problem before with a couple of other brands. Gd luck to you.

Sorry but daiwa bg is much stronger the fuago frame is way to soft it bends while reeling in small fish and sucks when reeling in bigger fish I've felt like throwing it away many times

Yes, the con of the Fuego relative to the BG is that it's frame is not as sturdy... when using 10 lb to 15 lb braid, this is a non-issue because the drag setting should not be high enough to enable the frame to bend. But if using 20lb + line with more drag tension applied, a stronger framed reel like the BG is a good move. Note: The reason why we like the Fuego above the BG for the lighter lines is because the Fuego is mag-sealed while the BG isn't... I've dunked them both in saltwater, and the BG got significantly compromised while the Fuego is still working great.

@@Twickleitfishing I have two Fuegos, one 2500 and other 4000. I often catch spanish mackerel on the 2500 combined with a micro jigging rod and mahis and bluefish with the 4000, on a jigging rod. I use 20lbs and 30lbs YGK x8 and never had problems with bendings. Off course, you can't abuse of the drag, but definetly worth the money. You can cast jigs all day long without getting tired. I love them.
