I bought in 2015 a new Touareg Hybrid and it was the best choice I’ve made. It haven’t gone wrong once an at the moment has 150k kilometres on the clock.

I had a 2008 v6 this Touareg from new it was fabulously built and apart from the prop shift (which failed at 60k miles) was always trouble free and a pleasure to own and drive.

Have you never heard of warranty??🤣🤣 The last brand new Discovery we had started going wrong from 1 month old & we chopped it back in after 16 months of issues. In the previous 15 years I or so my business had 5 LR or RR vehicles all spent more time in the garage than on the road. Thank goodness for that thing you’ve never heard of “warranty”🤣🤣 The 2 Touareg’s we’ve currently got (both Mk 3’s 1 private 1 business) haven’t missed a beat & the Mk 2 my wife had for 4 1/2 years had nothing more than services.. Another Mk 2 in my company (2 year old) has also not missed a beat, while going through quarries, many miles on road & off road.. You want to chat shite crack on, I’m talking from personal ownership, Oh & I served my time as a mechanic 😉😉

Great clip but it doesn't really mention the off-road capabilities of each vehicle, talks a lot more about how they handle corners, where that's not too relevant for these type of vehicles. Also, Vicky mentions the snorkel at 3:07 and refers to its function that makes the truck go through deeper rivers and such, however, the main purpose of a snorkel is to provide cleaner and cooler air for the engine, especially in convoys.

@@pfacka No it is not. Look at the inside, it’s a prefacelift model. It’s owned by a gentleman named Matt, who added the facelift kit to improve the looks. The 5.0SC’s cost a lot more than £5k and have more modern technology.

Own both 100 series and Touareg TDi. Touareg has more leg room, more luxury feel, far mor comfortable, power is instant but the land cruiser obv has more cargo space and cheaper to maintain.

I bought a Grand Cherokee Summit 2015 and it’s a much better car to live with than I could ever imagine at the price I paid. V8 HEMI is great. Use it off-road most weekends and it’s so capable.

That v8 in the range rover is known for the fatal head gaskets and the other engines got other various issues and the electronics are a joke after 10+ years. U usually get told to avoid Range rovers but somehow they're recommended on fifth gear Hm 🤔

I was looking at a Range Rover for about £3,000-£4000, I’m not a rich person and a old Toyota Land Cruiser are crazy money, so I was really thinking about the Range Rover but then I seen how much parts are and the equipment you need to work on them, now don’t get me wrong I absolutely love range/land rovers but you have to remember the old ones have expensive bmw parts in them. It’s hard to get a good price Range Rover that hasn’t had some shady workmanship on it or full service history, I know there out there but the price doubles

Landcruiser every day of the week and twice on Sunday. That HD-FTE motor is the best engine Toyota has ever produced. I regularly see them here in Australia with over 600k’s if serviced correctly. That’s a $30k -$40k motor over here, if you can find a low K one that is. They are gold,,,

True, as I own one. However, starting to look dated these days in terms of output etc. A modern 2 something litre diesel can deliver much more torque, like the 2.8 currently used in the Hilux/LC.

This is a 3.0 TDI . The 3.6 was produced until 2014 . The important part is that the performance it's idendical , minus the gas mileage .

I have had a 04 Touareg V8. Great fun car. No major problems, and did a lot of beach work. I currently have a 2011 V6 TDI. Just did a major service, all fluids and filters brakes.at 212,000km. It is just a great car. I have been considering updating it, but seriously I cannot justify spending $10s of thousands on something not as good. So I will drive on in a stylish modern car, that doesn’t look 11 years old 😂😊😅

Landcruiser any day,more capable off road and it's not going to break down and start emptying your wallet with gearbox issues, air suspension issues and in the case of TDV8s, blowing turbos.Old Range Rovers cost so little money because they're junk. This is something the Aussies are 100% right on,Landcruiser or Nissan Patrol over anything from Land Rover!.Can't really comment on the VW, don't know a lot about them.

Yes. If it’s the 4.4 BMW engine it has to be 06 at latest. £12k would get you a really nice late L322 with a TDV8 which is superior all round.

I have a land cruiser 70 series ! It is stock ,only has a pair of diff lockers ! Still can beat that Range Rover ! And has finished 400k miles right from 1987 ! And has not broken ! The British are masters in making super cars like McLaren and old retro machines like defender and morgons ! They must concentrate on those ! The Range Rover might be the most capable luxury 4x4 ,but it is for the rich !

@@oliver384 I think you might be thinking of the discovery 2, the 3 uses a very good gearbox, and the majority of problems can be solved with some wd40 and a fluid change...

@@joannaatkins822 The 3 uses the ZF6HP which is the one I was referring to, had one fail in my 2.7 TDV6 RRS, gearbox issues with the D3 and RRS are quite common, and rather expensive.I know LR say sealed for life but wouldn't go past about 50k miles without changing the oil and filers on this gearbox, but really given the choice I'd just buy the Landcruiser!.
