In the previous 15 years I or so my business had 5 LR or RR vehicles all spent more time in the garage than on the road. Thank goodness for that thing you’ve never heard of “warranty”🤣🤣 The 2 Touareg’s we’ve currently got (both Mk 3’s 1 private 1 business) haven’t missed a beat & the Mk 2 my wife had for 4 1/2 years had nothing more than services.. Another Mk 2 in my company (2 year old) has also not missed a beat, while going through quarries, many miles on road & off road.. Great clip but it doesn't really mention the off-road capabilities of each vehicle, talks a lot more about how they handle corners, where that's not too relevant for these type of vehicles. Also, Vicky mentions the snorkel at 3:07 and refers to its function that makes the truck go through deeper rivers and such, however, the main purpose of a snorkel is to provide cleaner and cooler air for the engine, especially in convoys.

I love 5th Gear but dear god their used car advice is shit. “Strapped for cash but like fancy shit?! Why not S-Class?!” I wonder how many bankruptcies their sage advice have caused.

The Land Cruiser will last an eternity best allrounder! For looks and prestige the Range Rover; the VW is disposable and has neither of the virtues of the other two!

The Toyota is the only smart move here. Either that or get an older 2.7tdi discovery 3. They're around 3k in the UK, and heaps more reliable than the 4.4 found in the range rover.

The 2.7 TDV6?!, chocolate gearboxes, snapped cranks and body off to change a cambelt?, I'd rather take my chances with the BMW engine to be honest!, but I'd rather have the Landcruiser than any of them.

@@oliver384 I think you might be thinking of the discovery 2, the 3 uses a very good gearbox, and the majority of problems can be solved with some wd40 and a fluid change...

@@joannaatkins822 The 3 uses the ZF6HP which is the one I was referring to, had one fail in my 2.7 TDV6 RRS, gearbox issues with the D3 and RRS are quite common, and rather expensive.I know LR say sealed for life but wouldn't go past about 50k miles without changing the oil and filers on this gearbox, but really given the choice I'd just buy the Landcruiser!.
