Great review! I bought an OM 4 last week to use with my iPhone 12 Pro Max, and it does a blinding job. Can almost make my camera work look acceptable. I have to take my phone of it the (Apple leather) case to fit the clamp on, but that's no biggy.

All I know is OM4 uses stronger motors. ..and it only comes with light color (which gets dirty easily)

I'm curious why you decided to test the Zhiyun Smooth XS instead of the Smooth Q2, which is a well respected pocket sized 3-Axis gimbal? After all, the XS is really just a fancy selfie stick. I currently use the Crane M2, but had been thinking about adding the Smooth X or XS simply because of the built in selfie stick/tripod feature, and it is on black friday sale for $49 right now.

My OSMO3 suddenly began looking to the sky for no explained reason. Balances horizontal no problems but drifts up (or down if you revers the camera selfie).. Have you heard of this problem before in your experience? I feel the magnetic system is useless to me as I use then same phone to run my Mavic Air2 so the new features of the osmo4 is a hinderance.

Works great, we had a lav mic running into all the phone with all three units, and it didn't impact stabilization as long as you balanced the phone with the cable attached.

I have the highly regarded Smooth Q (not the Q2) and purchased used for a very modest price, $70 about 2.5 years ago. While the new DJI would likely win this comparison again, it would do so only because the Q does not setup as easily. Once you factor the cost into this rating you might like it more. I would encourage anyone starting out to find a solid used cell phone gimbal, you still get to use your current phone with all of it's stabilization enhancements and have mostly that same features found in all the newer products. Still, the Zhiyun X (or XS) would make it to my backpack before the others.

Have to agree the osmo is the best. I've struggled with to many phones not connecting to a gimbal from costumers. The exception is always DJI there, finish making the DJI account and it just works. When it comes to tracking I did have a complaint recently with the om4, still waiting for it to return from DJI to see if it was a gimbal problem or just the phone processor.

What phone do you use? Or maybe you could check with another phone if the problem is still there. I use an iPhone 7 and it didn't track very well. But when I try Android phone (Asus), it tracks pretty well.

I don't really expect I'd have a problem balancing a phone gimbal as I'd just remember where the end of the clamp sits on the phone and am in the ballpark... as I do with my camera gimbal. As I couldn't be bothered to hold a Gimbal with a GH5 on it for long periods I usually put my RX100V on a Crane-M, which is much more single-hand holdable for long-ish periods, but still bulky and awkward (also discontinued). So in the end I got a Hero 9 Black and use that hand-held, as the improved stabilisation is usually good enough and there's really no weight at all. (I don't even use the boosted hypersmooth.) Oh and 5k... (See "The Peacock Walk, Kyoto Japanese Garden in Holland Park, London (5k)" for one I was pleased with the smoothness, as it was not obtrusive, using just standard hypersmooth.)

I'd say that a dedicated device is still the better choice. Particularly today with a very good selection of different cameras like 360, GoPro, etc. Constantly popping on and off my $1000 phone is not what I'd like to do.

Personally, 3 things I don't like with DJI OM4: One, its clamp. Phone attached to it needs to be very thin. Not holding very well when used with phone's silicon case or if phone's bezel is rectangular. It could drop the phone. Two, the app. Why do we need to have an account to use this gimbal!? Three, we can't set waypoints for video recording. Only in timelapse, and it is very limited. Waypoint can't be set to loop. Other than that OM4 is really good, very stable and easy to use. Battery is great can be use to charge the phone too.

Tripod is not included, but must be purchased separately to the DJI Gimball (even the carrier case). It should not have been presented as if it were naturally accessible to him as Moza Gimball. This is not completely Fair. Otherwise it was helpful, thank you for the video.

I think a DJI Pocket or Pocket 2 is a better choice than a phone gimbal, other than the cost difference. Smaller and lighter than any of these, with great IQ, and you can use your phone to control/monitor your shots without a gimbal arm in the way.
