This is the conclusion to the semi-auto portion of Choosing the Right Sniper Rifle for you in Ghost Recon Wildlands. Here, I take everything I've shown from all the semi auto snipers, and finish it off with a damage comparison on alert targets at range. I take into consideration personnel damage, vehicle damage rate of fire, and overall utility to bring you this conclusion!

The rate of fire comes in handy for over the shoulder closer shots, it allows you to run the sniper as a primary if you want something presice as a secondary

Hmmm, I think you missed an additional feature to test. Not sure about the others, but the Mk-14 comes with different trigger groups. I tend to run the single/3-round version and the G28 scope. At range you get a good chance of putting 3 rounds into a target with one trigger pull, which looking at your damage test would drop them fairly reliably, and if you get jumped at short range, you can just swap the scope range & use it as a battle rifle. This leaves the other slot free for another weapon, usually my go loud option. Yes, I know that you can swap weapons on the fly, but it feels a little cheaty to do so.

When it comes to the semi-auto Sniper Rifles, I don’t usually gear towards them unless I wanna go as a Sniper in certain missions, but I’m more of a Bolt-Action kind of Sniper. The M40A5 is my all time (non DLC) favorite, and my all time Anti-Vehicle rifle has to be the Tac-50 after it was fixed. When I need a semi-auto sniper rifle I shift towards the MK14 because it reminds me of the All Ghillied Up mission from Call of Duty 4.

I've actually never tried the sr25. I've always gone for the g28, mk 14 because i've strived for stealth play. But this has given me inspiration to check it out. I really like your videos and the way you present your findings.

SR25's become my go-to. I love how it shoots, and due to it's semi-auto nature with 20rd magazine I can still quickly take down a chopper or other vehicle with 5-6 shots.

A lot of people are suggesting that I should have turned off tier mode to level out the rifles, but then they would've just dropped all the guys in one shot, or nearly. Idealy, yes, I should've had the rifles the same level. That's my mistake, but I think the results are clear enough... hey, maybe I'm wrong.

Im watching now, but my first thought is all of your comparisons have been spot on, but it's kinda hard to test your damage on soft targets if the weapons are different levels right ? The vechile damage is a stat ingrained in each weapon the weapon damage has no bearing. The HTI for example takes two shots for almost everything even at level 30, whereas the desert version takes 1. EDIT : I agree you can establish a baseline from your tests here. & Of course convoys take a lot of resources.

Love your vids. After watching this I tried an almost identical test (300-380m) in same situation (alert non-armoured Santa Blanca soldiers), repeated on multiple enemies. Compared G28 and SR25 both with TXi scope, suppressor, longest barrel, both levelled equally to max (level 30) in Tier 1. My conclusion was the same as yours - SR25 definitely drops soft targets with fewer rounds when taking body shots. Both G28 and SR25 always seemed to drop them in one shot with headshots, but for the G28 multiple rounds (3-5 usually) were needed for body shots. SR25 usually dropped them in 2-3 rounds to the body, occasionally even just 1 round. My previous favourite semi-auto DMR in the game was the G28, but I'm switching to the SR25 now. The fast rate of fire is good for a shorter range sniper set up. One thing I enjoy a lot is a chopped down AR w grenade launcher as my fast twitch gun and anti vehicle, plus a chopped down g28 or mk14. Usually mk14 cuz burst fire. But slap a g28 on those rifles and you can use it fast and convenient at short to medium range and then can still use it effectively at mid to long. Yes at long range you dont shooy that fast but if you have 20 unidad rushing in from 150m, being able to tap fast is a life saver

Good video... I've been running the MK14 for about 142 hours now... currently on tier 18... my MK14 is level 30... and anything 350m and down takes one hit.... as long as it's a head shot..... If you are not trying to get head shots your just wasting your time with any semi auto rifle.

My favorite is the G28, I throw on the ACOG sight and use it as a short(make really good use of that fire rate) to medium range Battle rifle without ever using it suppressed. I'm not a stealthy guy.

Hi just watched this vid & yeah I tuck your advice about two weeks back & was using the sr25 sniper & put the g28 scope on it & found it pretty good, previous to this I was using the hti amazing power & accuracy but slow to reload so I changed to the mk 14 with g28 scope also has you recommend & yeah pretty good but this vid has really confirmed it for me the best all around sniper rifle is the sr25 with g28 scope. I stand by the mk.14 as the best semi-auto gun as it works as an assault rifle if I get in trouble, plus it doesn't have below the chart handling like some of the other semi-auto guns.

I actually really love the g28 because I can run it as a primary and if I get into cqc or a fire fight I can use it for long to mid range engagements and it’s fire rate allows me to quickly pump out another shot incase I miss of if the target is standing and the sr25 can’t do that however I might try it out and see how I feel about it

My question is, why do you have to spam the trigger just because its shoots faster doesn't mean you have to shoot it that fast right? You control how fast you shoot so if they're far you can shoot slow if they're close you can shoot fast PS you're shooting most of the guys in the legs/feet so they take more shots

By what definition are you determining "The Best" Your best may not be another's. While some are a higher caliber, have different bullet drop dynamics, those sacrifice Recoil control, ADS (rescope time)/ Noise Suppression and Penetration

Yeah, that's what it is to find the "best" for anyone. It's why I've spent so many videos going over all of these things that I've tested; to show as much as I can so that the viewer can make a decision as to what to use. I never say this or that is the best - I'm always all about the fact that the best weapon is the one that the player can use the best. It's why I do as much testing as I do.

hey man, I love your videos and you cram a lot of detail into them, but for these rifles they're generally meant as a dmr, being 200 to 300 which is reasonable for headshots. And closer you can capitalize on the higher rate of fire and burn through enemy headshots fast. And for people who emp convoys and grenade the escorts, the g28 and mk14 are a lot more likely to snipe the main driver without blowing up the main vehicle. Just my experience, precision shooting and rapid fire with low vehicle damage can be a plus. m203 can take out vehicle surprises we'll enough

I concur with the SR-25 choice. I am currently running the SR- 25 and tar 21 equiped with grenade launcher as my main kit and love it! Perfect for every situation. Anyone else have a versitile smg/assault rifle recomendation to run?? I tried the vector and honestly really liked it, but the extended mag option absolutely sucks at 25rds compared to my current tar-21s 50rd extended mags.

I have to agree that you should de-activate tier 1 mode or wait to make all guns same levels. The conclusion you've come to is pretty accurate though. I noticed right away the SR-25 seemed to hit harder before tier 1 was released. Edit: I'm curious if leveling a weapon in tier mode will have any accidental residual effects on the weapons damage with tier 1 de activated.

My line of thought is maybe with that g28 scope on targets at 300 meters maybe you were hitting lower on the body ? Like hitting them in the legs or lower body instead of center mass ? The SR25 and Dragunov can't take down helicopters and other vehicles fast enough. That's why I prefer the MK14, and I'm hoping to get it to the point of one-shotting them just like the HTI.

Let's forget about semi-auto vs. Bolt action comparisons and focus on what the best sniper overall is. When I unlocked the desert tech HTI, i basically never went back to any other sniper. It's rate of fire is obviously a lot slower, but because of its massive damage output, you can one-shot literally anything. It makes things very helpful for instantly destroying incoming reinforcement vehicles. Plus you're also saving ammo on enemies since it only takes one shot versus 3-5 when using a semi automatic. Also, I think another thing you could have tested out with those two rifles is sniping without suppressors as well as comparing them to suppressed sniping. Because even if you have the Adv. Suppressor skill, your bullet velocity is still higher when firing without a suppressor, which gives better accuracy at longer ranges.

You really don't need to make shots as far as 300m or over in this game. You'll be shooting at about 100m to 150m for most of the game if playing with a sniper. I myself like making long shots but only for fun. 300m or more is pretty unnecessary even at lower tiers

Taking even 3 shots to kill an enemy is unacceptable in my opinion. It's pointless to use a semi auto at that large of a cost of stopping power. If I'm sniping I'm using a either an MSR or an HTI. Preferably the hti because I can one shot helos and even armed jeeps etc if the need arises. That coupled with a suppressed m4 with a GL is pretty much all I ever need and gets me out of sticky situations. But I'm just one person so to each their own

Because it is pretty useless in having a stationary gun that will take forever to set up, i can umderstand they did not want a tripod. Instead i would like them to add a bipod because both tripods and bipods help with handling but bipods can attach to your gun making it easier to move around as wirh tripods you have a bulky object hangong off your backpack which is not ideal for a spec ops team.
