I have redone the Ghost Recon Wildlands sniper rifle damage test due to massive request. All tested sniper rifles are now level 16 in tier, and all damage is tested at the same range, from the same vantage, on the same targets. This is the biggest sniper test I've done yet in Wildlands. The results are clear.

What's up with the footage set to music of me dying to Unidad? Well, I had to do this convoy 6 times to get this footage, and had to get a game over each time to reset it. One time, I had an especially hard time trying to die, believe it or not, and after 20 minutes of shooting civilians and rebels, blowing myself up, and being unable to lure in Cartel from the nearby base, I gave in and just decided to see how long I could slaughter Undidad before I died (once I actually found one) lol

Darkdally you don't have to level stuff you can just turn tier mode off and it turns off levels to level 1.

That's not correct. There are differences between tier one mode on and off.

If I turned tier mode off, they'd probably all just one-shot all the enemies. I had no problem spending the levels on them. People want to see tier mode stuff, so that's what I figured I'd do.

Thanks for equalizing the guns out. All things being equal, some shots you'll notice the hit marker will be different, the thinner x is a normal shot, the larger thicker X is a critical hit, which does some unknown factor of more damage. I've noticed that certain weapons crit wayyyy more than others. SR25, M40A1, PP19, C1, P90, MP7 SPAS, R5, AK47, 6p41, mk48, all have noticeably more critical shots than most other guns in their class though there are a few in the AR/SMG/LMG categories I haven't used enough to notice. Also a quick note, the M40A1 with short barrel and Digi scope zoomed in have the mildots line up for proper distance @100meter intervals. there are a few sniper rifles that with the correct barrel/rangefinder/scope the mildots line up perfect on flat land, making adjustments on the fly very easy.

Noise detection in GR:W only seems to matter at under 100 meters. I've picked off most of a camp with an unsuppressed M40 at 200 meters without alerting anyone (barring missed shots of course). Furthermore, enemies who ARE hunting for you seem unnaturally skilled at pinpointing your location even when you do shoot suppressed. Unless you need to sneak into an occupied town, shoot one HVT, and leave without being detected (which can be a fun challenge to set for yourself), suppressors are pretty much pointless at actual sniping ranges(which are really short in game, but that's another topic).

Just for fun, test which of these rifles operates best as a mid-range engagement. Mu suggestion coulee be to select a good camp. Snipe the snipers/watch outs and then clear the camp as fast as you can, all using the same rifle.

Taking out convoys can be a bitch sometimes so what I normally do is use my spotting ability to tag the whole convoy (including the helicopter) and sync shot mark the driver and passenger of the resource truck, then mark the pilot of the helicopter and then just clean up the remaining soldiers :) No damage done to the resource truck.

Put the MK14 into 3 round burst mode and it suddenly does very well at longer ranges on alert enemies, at the cost of more ammo.

I love MK14 EBR, as it has also auto. Most of the time my engagement distance is between 200-300 metres, so I don't really need a powerful sniper like SRS-A1 or MSR.

You should do an lmg build, probably the most underused weapons in GRW along with shotguns.

i really watched that footage hard and it looks like the sr25 was still 4 shots if they were leg shots and 2 if they were centermass, and 3 if they were a mix: which looked like the same for the g28. But then again I could have seen it wrong. Me personally(and thats exactly what it is a preference) I think in sniping in harder modes and not cheesing content on unsuspecting enemies, the g28 works better at those ranges. I would simply choose a bolt action. But even if not then the significantly faster followup shots of the g28 give you the ability to take down enemies quicker at a 2 shot center mass hit, allowing you to maintain stealth and not have him alert after i shoot him and he runs off for cover and alerts him friends. Thus idk if this is a perfect test for me but definitely appreciate the hard work, good info. it would also be interesting to see time to kill, which would balance damage and rate of fire and I think a better quantification

This is going to sound really stupid but what's tier 1 or whatever it is? I'm level 16 just trying to get decent skills and the best loadout I can, not doing story missions because I know I'll finish it too quickly👍 Generally doing as many side missions as i can for fun. Whatever it is happens at level 30 I believe, so what happens after 30? How high can you go or does it reset or something?

I personally disagree with your evaluation. At longer ranges against alerted enemies, if you are using a semi-auto sniper, bodyshot damage doesn't matter. If you aren't landing headshots, they are kinda worthless imo. If you are stealthing, G28/Mk14 are the better option. If you aren't, I'd still consider them superior. More shots means more likely to land a headshot and if you can land headshots comfortably, the RoF is only going to give you another advantage. I just don't see any situation where i'd actually prefer a SR25/SVD over a G28/Mk14, better for stealth, better at closer ranges and i'd argue better at longer ranges.

The fact that an enemy can absorb 6 or 7 shots from a sniper rifle is a bit ridiculous. It should still be even.. if it takes one shot to kill us than it should take one headshot or snipe shot to the heart to kill them. Tier should have just added more enemies instead of making them superhuman marksman that can spawn sporadically and make their bullets bend. I'd much rather fight against 30 regular enemies, than 5 superpowered bullet eaters that can snipe you with their pistol from 300m away, downhill, while you're taking cover behind a giant rock. Starting at Tier 20, the bullshit gets real and full part communication and tactical strategical planning is crucial, if not a must..

The HTI is unreliable. I don't know what's causing it, but my mate uses the HTI BDC and it doesn't always work like it should. It's one reason I'm an advocate for faster-firing sniper rifles.

PLEASE HELP ME!!! I love the G28 for stealth because you can shoot multiple shots quick. however if I get spotted it becomes useless because it takes 5 shots to kill. What should I do? If I carry a MSR with me then I have no gun for close quarters.

Having used the G28 rifle with G28 scope the thing I do is keep a vehicle close hunted I just retreat 1-200 mtrs let it settle and return if engaged I bug out until I lose pursuit then return. G28 pairs well with TAR 21 or P90. the draw back to the G28 is ammo when maxed skill you get 88 rounds and you can go through that so damn fast.

ryan sutter equip the G28 with the ACOG, or Digital Scope or G28 scope with red dot (the smallest sights for sniper rifles) and use at short range. It takes around 3 shots close up and it's easy to get head shots for 1 shot 1 kills.

When I carry a sniper rifle for use as a DMR like a G28, I pair it with a short, maneuverable assault rifle with a grenade launcher. Like a bullpup or an SR3M. It gives you quick, tight quarters fire and an way to take down vehicles if you need.
