Except Star Wars uses blasters (charged particle weapons), not lasers. You're on the right track, though; the electromagnetic envelope that contains the plasma in the blaster bolt acts as a sort of neurological EMP to render the target unconscious.

Stargate Uses Hyperdive for most ships, and super stargates for specific transit points, similar to mass drivers in mass effect. Stargates themselves are for the small ground-based planet to planet travel.

I crunched some loose numbers a few days ago on the cost of the clone army (just the troopers, birth to battlefield). I think it came to +500 trillion USD/GRC(?) which may seem like a lot until you factor in the economic yearly output of just earth alone (~48 trillion). Consider that there are thousands of planets and systems that make probably even half that amount, while a few that make waaaaaay more, suddenly the clone army which consisted of about 2 billion troops seems a little more freezable.

It's really unfortunate that - in my opinion at least - Ringo has a hard time keeping a series interesting after about 2, MAYBE 3 books. The Posleen, Troy Rising, and Into the Looking Glass were all ones where I RELLY enjoyed the first book, was meh on the second, and didn't bother to pick up the third (well, for the Posleen I picked up Watch on the Rhine, but really didn't like how it portrayed the former SS guys).

Good points overall, but the M56 smart gun is not a stupid weapon. The harness and HUD allow it to be used from the hip. Though it is a long weapon, they wear it with the center of the gun at their hip. This makes it able to pivot at sharper angles than a shoulder fired rifle, thus reducing its clunkieness. Not only that but from the looks of it, the mechanical arms seem to redistribute the weight to the body to the harness, there by balancing the weight on the marines center of gravity. As someone that has worked in a stock room, I can tell you balancing heavy objects, like on my shoulder, greatly reduces the strain of toting it around. James Cameron is not a perfect man, but he is the Maestro when it comes to sci-fi tech.

I would argue that the clone troopers being born and raised by the same people who train them for war is similar to the Spartan method training in which every male child was property of the state and raised first and foremost to be a soldier in the army. The difference is, the Spartans also learned enough letters, numbers, and, if necessary, statecraft that they could continue to function if they lived long enough to retire from the army. Clones, between the commission of the GAR and their short lifespans, were going to die young even if they survived the war.

The M35 "M-Galaxy" Lasgun(standard issue) is capable of blasting humans limbs off with one shot and piercing space marine armor (usually through weak but still impressive)it also never jams can act as a frag grenade if needed and can mount a bayonet it is weak in universe not compared to any of the standard weapons used by most of these armies The imperial guard also deploys multiple regiments at once since each regiment has an ideal form of combat(catachans jungle fighters are experts of guerrilla warfare individual fighters have killed carnifexes, lictors, warbosses, etc) that way each regiment can cover their flaws a deployment of catachans and kriegsmen will overpower the clones easily as the mechanized trench warfare of the death korps will outlast any clone emplacements and the catachans would be able assassinate and sabotage any key units or facilities granted the imperial guard would suffer higher casualties but seeing as there’s about 30 trillion total guardsmen a couple million dead means very little in the long run Also the imperial guard doesn’t have worse technology just limited tech this is important to understand because a leman russ spearhead with nova cannons will shred any armor like paper All of this is ignoring the imperial guard aren’t space marines I know why you left out the adeptus astartes but there’s also the tempestus scions which are space marines specifically highly trained imperial guardsmen with better armor and guns Also psykers are strong enough to kill jedi(they might perils in the process but that’s why you have a commissar nearby) so enemy morale will drop quick if these guys are deployed At the end of the day 40k will almost always be on top in the case of sci-fi factions(unless we’re talking Cthulhu level armies in which case only war in heaven armies can compare) due to the absurd scale and bs power 40k factions have that’s part of its appeal the best way I’ve heard 40k described is if a universe was designed by a bunch of “no my guy has a bulletproof force field” kids(we all know the type) which ends up making any comparison of other sci-fi universes pretty anticlimactic and mildly infuriating I was introduced to 40k through one of these debates I know the answer unfortunately

@@madkabal Within the clone troopers there is a section called the Galactic Marines which morphed into a special section of Storm Troopers during the Empire. On that sort of basis you could consider the Clone Troopers and Stormtroopers to be basically Space Marines. There are a lot of older EU sources where Stormtroopers so exactly what the term Space Marine means. The Space Marines of 40K are literally called Space Marines but are far off what the rest of these military groups are. I'd say most of the Imperial Guard are not at all Space Marines and that Storm Trooper specific divisions are the most appropriate group to use but Imperial Navy Ratings officers are the actual space marines of 40k.

Of all the "space marines" listed the Clone Troopers came in at #1 with a power level of 4.4ish and the Astra Militarum were just behind at 4.3ish. The Clones were only used for 13 years at the start of the Clone wars and a couple years into the reign of the Galactic Empire. The Astra Militarum have held the line for a thousand times that. Their weapons, armor and vehicles far surpass that of the GAR (grand army of the republic).

@1:11:00 fact check the AK-47 was not chambered in 7.62 NATO. It was only fairly recently that we got an AKM rifle chambered in 7.62 NATO. Secondary issue 7.62x51 chambered battle rifles aren't favored purely for their increased effectiveness against armor, they're bigger selling point is actually they're greater effectiveness at increased range over 5.56x45 or 7.62x39 weapons. While the M85b is undeniably chunky for a light infantry weapon it does have two huge advantages over modern weapons using the 762x51 cartridge. Even when fired fully automatic the M85b has negligible recoil, and it can be fired cyclically for indefinite periods of time without overheating. Also there's the lack of hot gas escaping from the ejection port, that's a huge improvement for a bullpup.

As much as I love Star Wars, the Astartes are literally the grandchildren of a GOD-LIKE BEING (who then became an *actual* god) they are gigantic beasts with the best armor mankind can offer, the best weapons it can offer, their minds are incredibly powerful, and their tactics were written by Rowboat Girlyman (Papa Smurf) or their respective Primarchs. An Astartes could snap all of these space marines backs with ease. There’s a clear reason why they weren’t on this list.

Even without their armor an Astartes is pretty resistant to most damage, they are constantly fighting literal hell with the two sides of races created specifically as weapons for war (eldar/orcs) anyone whos says "well their armor is weak to this" or "well this entire chapter was ripped apart" put in perspective the horrific existence that is the 40k universe. "Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods"

Chapter serfs usually help out in defence missions such as guarding their forward base, voidships, and fortress monastary but they don't use them in offensive missions cause they can't keep up. Is it illegal? Yes and no, they're technically still part of a space marine chapter however.

I feel like the helmet thing with Rico is a bit overestimated. Yes he took it off the guy during a live fire exercise, but iirc it was because the guy couldn't see, and they weren't in a spot that enemy fire was likely to hit them. Then the person on their own side falls and fires their gun wildly, and shoots him in the face. And that shot in the face hit his eye, which wasn't protected by the helmet.

Their basic units are capable of destroying a continent and they had thousands of ships, every single one of them having the power to wipe an imperium flagship in the blink of an eye; and controlled by god-like super smart IAs. Daleks are from Dr.Who and have nothing to do with darth vader, they ressemble an inverted trash can and are inherently against any life form that isn't a dalek. A single dalek is crazy strong but it doesn't even matter : They have near instant ftl, can destroy planets and stars with their basic ships. They also get ressources by literally "hacking" it into the universe (not really but that's to explain it simply) They have also been shown to replicate themselves enough to block time travel and can even destroy the Tardis itself which can survive the big bang. They're just on a whole other level.

@@TheMegamyGamer If the Imperium of Man invaded Star Wars, they could conquer it in record breaking time. Star Wars would get completely wrecked in a matter of days. Navy wise, not only does the Imperium of Man have a FAR larger navy, even their weakest ships are so SO beyond anything in Star Wars, it would be a joke. And as far as an Imperial Guard compared to clones, not even a comparison. Blasters leave scorches. Blasters have bad range. Blasters are not light speed weapons. Imperial Guard on the other hand has Lasguns. While they may be weak in 40k, they'd be incredibly overpowered in Star Wars. They don't share the major heat problems. And note that there are major heat problems in Star Wars lore. That is why Jango uses special guns. They allow him to fire faster, and catch Jedi off guard, as most blasters cannot fire so quickly, and Jedi can be overwhelmed. To top it off, these weapons do not leave scorch marks. They blow off limbs, cut people straight in half, etc. They have great range. The ammo is the speed of light.

@@TheMegamyGamer Allow me to educate you then, son. As it is clearly you that needs to do research. First off, your fighters are shit. They aren't going to do anything against a 40k vessel. They aren't ever going to catch a 40k vessel for that matter, nor will the fastest ship in Star Wars. The fact that you think Star Wars has more firepower, is laughable. Even in the stupid shit, that is the new canon of the most recent movies. How is anything in Star Wars going to target, and aim at something moving at 75% the speed of light exactly? Not to mention, the distances which Star Wars ships engage at, are tiny as fuck, compared to 40k, which regularly engages at 500k kilometers and larger. Let's talk about the sturdiness of each of the ships. 40k ships can take enough firepower, that at the very least, the entire surface of a planet would be destroyed, and then some. As it takes quite a bit of their sustained fire power to take down void shields. Boarding parties are common, and they can teleport straight onto ships. Especially since Star Wars doesn't have anything to stop teleportation. But don't worry, I'll give citations in my second post to make all of this very clear. I'll do the research for you.

@@Jebu911 Uhh, At one point they weren't used as special forces. They were an actual fighting force if we remember the space marine legions. Just as the clones had clone legions. In all technicality, the Astartes were in fact at one point the sole driving factor for the Imperium of Mans expansion and near success at securing the galaxy for humanity. For the most part, the Astartes (Space Marine) Legions numbered anywhere from 50k to 100k manpower. With the mild exceptions of Magnus and Fulgrims legions. They got the raw end of it. Even then they were still in operation alongside their fellow primarchs and their other legions. So technically speaking people could argue this video was not accounting for when the Imperium of Man was in its peak condition. But for balance reasons, I understand why they didn't. In reality, they shouldn't have added the 40k setting into this contest. Even with how bad off the Imperium is right now there is no real winning against them.
