@@ronnie_5150 gr supra! Taking delivery in may. 6mt supra was a bit more unique, plus the warranty is a nice incentive. Easier to change my mind later and go used corvette, way more on the market

Great video, and answered a question for me here in the UK, where a new Supra GR is about same price as a very low miles 2017/18 C7 3LT Z51 Auto (if you can find one!). Yes, Supra good car/looks "nice," but C7 is a "Wow" car.

Great comparison. The more I watch KZbin videos including this one I’m really leaning towards the Supra. My choice of Corvette will be either a 02-04 C5 coupe manual or C6 manual so it will come down to test driving all. I’m about 5 years away from retirement so I have plenty of time to decide

I own the Mk5 Supra and my dad owns the C7 Corvette Stingray. People turn their heads more towards the Supra cause if it's aggressive look. You look at the C7 and you see it everywhere. It gets old real quick when everyone has the C7. It doesn't bothers me that it's a BMW at all. I get the American V8 has this raw power no nation can compete against. It just feels like the same old. People will defend Chevy and Toyota. They're both equally fun cars. I just prefer something that can be a project car than something to drive every Sunday morning to annoy the neighbors.

We own both and daily drive both. I prefer the handling of the supra, and the speed of the trans and it gets 100x more attention. But I would choose the c7 because it's more comfortable and sounds better. But they're both very fun to drive

I go to track days. All I can say is the fastest group always consist of 911 GT3s and Corvette C7s and an occasional Lambo. The Supras sound like a quiff in the slower groups.

We have a 2006 Boxster S and while fun to drive, quick, nimble, sounds good, convertible..... yeah, I know exactly what you mean about that lack of rigid chassis feel. On perfectly smooth road it's incredibly agile but as soon as you hit a high speed sweep with busted asphalt (like a freeway interchange) you really feel the bumps upsetting the chassis and it takes away confidence. Otherwise it's an absolute pleasure.

i also feel ppl have a problem with the new supra being a new challenge(r) to an american-icon,which then fuels the 'flaws' and easy pick-ons just like anything else;it would be like if Honda and Mazda teamed-up,and cross-bred the rebirth of the "S-2000" and it then presented a challenge to this C7,i think ppl would then pick on the s-2000 as well,just appears that way(not in this review,just to clarify,great review,LOVE love the side-by-side driveway comparrison!)

Sometimes less refinement is better. Driving a sports car should leave you trembling, nearly deaf, and exhausted. The C7 can do that better than the Supra in stock or modded form.

I’ve owned both, I’ll take the Supra. I had a 3LZ interior and the Supra still feels nicer inside. The transmission is better, it’s smaller, more nimble, feels a lot more special than a corvette. Love the turbo, especially because I live at altitude. The Supra has a lot more character.

Very entertaining.... I watched the whole thing ... a lot of vette fanboys here that wouldn’t dare test drive a Supra, it’s a shame because we all know da n well GM (as almost all competitive major automakers) buys the competitions cars to analyze and compare them. I love your unbiased view on both since you own both! A corvette is iconic and the c7 was a huge improvement in engineering and in attracting young adults who saw it was now formidable and technically superior to a lot on the road, and not just a boomers icon of when they were young and a corvette was THE aspirational car. Kids don’t care about that, they want to beat Johnny rice rocket or Dwayne with the SS Camaro down the block, and how do you do that ? Z51 C7 with some minor mods. 😎 ... but it’s getting old , how long has it been around? Late 2013? Toyota has had 7 years to put out a Supra against the C7. “BuT ItZ jusST A reBaGed BMW” ... TOYOTA and BMW Who both have incredible racing pedigree and both have developed v8 and V10 v12 engines know a thing or two about making power and putting it down. In the end I’d love a C7 just flat out because they are cheaper at the moment and they still look exotic, but the C8 is going to mop the floor with the C7, I see the Supra getting insane 1/4 times with no physical modification. Only a ECU flash. Supra doing what they did helps GM make a better corvette.

I test drove C7, M3 and 911. Compared all damn aspects of these cars including the price, performance, ride quality, cost of maintenance, exhaust note, trunk space etc. etc. I slept on these parameters for quite a while and decided to go vette. Yes, with A8, I know I’m missing something but that’s the way to go. You maximize your dollar value when you go vette. Just no comparison. Looks? Still a head turner. The newer Long Beach red metallic on a sunny day: man it kills it.

@@CarGuy11 Not 100% sure- but we have theories. Had about 69k miles on it - long tube headers and an xpipe....but most likely no tune plus I'm at altitude in Salt Lake City. Bought it in March and had planned to take it to get tuned - but it ran great. Long story "shortish" got a CEL P0030 random misfire - no compression in Cyl 7 - did a bore scope to find piston rings were shot. Sooooo maybe running too lean over time with the mods? Who knows. Totally bummed about the c7 - But excited for the new chapter. You still own both?

Curious did you run in V4 mode at all? I heard that could cause catastrophic failure so don’t use ECO in my manual anymore. Yes I still own both & love them for different reasons.

@@CarGuy11 Yes - i did run eco mode some, but I only owned the car for less than 4k miles. Who knows. The eco mode problem usually produces DOD lifter collapse - mine was rings. Sold it already to someone who wanted to rebuild it. I still wake up in the mornings with regrets on selling it.....could've done a sweet rebuild with forged parts and a cam. But on to the next. You done any tune on your Supra? Thinking of doing a downpipe and ECU flash for starters (in no rush).

Just some info, the C7 is faster in the quarter mile, if you lose to a 2020 ish supra, you need a driver mod, especially if the vette is an auto (corvette 12.1 quarter mile, supra 12.35 quarter mile). The c7 has 460hp/460 tq, the Supra has 335hp/365tq. The corvette only weights about 250lbs more than the Supra. The corvette has much better braking, it stops from 60mph in 107 feet, the supra needs 148 feet, despite the weight advantage. The Supra is a very nice car, but in terms of performance the Corvette is better hands down.

Supra has much more power than stated. It’s underrated heavily. Trust me it doesn’t have 335hp. The supra stops in exactly 107 feet. Did you really think it would stop in 148 feet?

Physically small, large displacement, low oil requirements, weight is down low, engine itself is quiet (not a lot of lifters clicking and the like). I've got a C6 GS and my pops has a C7 Z06 and I just love Corvetts so maybe I'm a little biased 😆

I have a C7, so obviously I’d go with a Corvette. The Supra is probably quicker out of the box, at least in terms of immediate acceleration. But with a power adder, a Corvette can reach the moon in power, and then, there’s the V8 sound.

The Supra is faster regardless man, you will spend alot more money trying to make the NA Vette as fast as modded Supra. The Supra with a tune alone and no mods is making 440whp and with exhaust and downpipe they are in the 550whp range for essentially 2k in mods and for 5k in mods you can add a larger turbo and be at 670whp. If you want to go fast the Supra is the better car for the money that's just facts no bias statement as well.

Stage 2 Supra's with DP and Intake Dyno at like 450WHP, show me a supra with only a tune doing that. As for the vette, you can get a base one for 45k new with current discounts and incentivesbeing offered, add a supercharger for 5k rip apart any supra for the same as base price of one. Or spend 3k get headers, e85, throttle bodys and a tune which will bring you close to 500 WHP but for less than a base supra but you'll have an engine that actually sounds good and has actual steering feel. You may not be biased but you know nothing about corvettes.

I would take my 1965 Shelby GT-350 over both of these cars. I do have a Supra, and have had a C7. I am old I won't list the others (at least 50). I own one car at a time and beat it into the ground (daily) then sell it. I have enjoyed all of them tremendously, but the Shelby never leaves the front of my mind. Next in line, my 1972 Porsche 911 Carrera (2000 lbs.) The Supra is my current driver and I am really having fun with it, as well. I could care less about the BMW thing it is a great sports car, even if it was named Edsel it is a great car ...
