Train with me on my app doing my actual weekly program | 7-Day Free Trial | $8.99/mo 📲 www.myliftfitness.com/training-app IMPORTANT INFO➡️ • This is a High Bar Squat (more quad dominant) • Set the bar at chest height in the rack • Knees traveling over toes is fine • Heel elevation varies (But generally is 0.5-1”) • Inhale & hold your air - gradually release as you near the top 1/2, or so, on the squat up • When unracking, Your goal is to take as few steps as possible to get into position. (2 steps back, then small adjustments to your individual squat stance) • The hips sliding slightly back will be more fluid moving into the squat - it’s usually not paused. Some do not teach this, but I’ve found it very useful • Don’t externally rotate excessively (screwing the feet into the ground) I use it merely as a way to feel equal hip activation at the very start of the squat. It can help you start the squat balanced without favoring one side over the other. After the first few inches, I pay no mind to it - Hope this helps. Love y’all

This is great, now do the low bar variation. I would also suggest a valsalva maneuver rather than bracing like you’re going to take a punch. You actually expand your stomach which braces your core, giving you intra-abdominal pressure under load, take in a deep breath and hold your breath without closing your mouth while in the standing position. Drop slowly into the negative and when you hit the bottom position, drive up forcefully, blowing out your breath as you reach the top. Do the breath with each rep. Low bar is better for moving more weight, is more hips and glutes, which is great if you have knee issues. High bar is better for quads, but you can’t move as much weight.
