FYI - To clarify a bit further on ES conversion to mana you mentioned around 10:32. You won't get extra mana for taking %max ES nodes. Conversion only takes the base amount. Because you're wearing the necklace you'll get more max ES if you take the %max ES nodes, but your mana will stay the same unless you're getting +max ES nodes.

Man I really wanted to like this game. It was billed as a game that would encourage experimentation and build diversity but making respeccing so costly does the exact opposite of that. You can hate D4 all you want but they got respeccing right. I went in blind to PoE and was building a monk based on what I could theory craft and hit Act 2 and realized “oh my build sucks” had to drop my character because couldn’t afford to respec him. I just realized this isn’t fun, and I have limited time to play games so why would I play something that isn’t fun?

The only "unfun" thing about this EARLY release of the game is respecing. If theyre going to switch up on us this fast then they should give the points back. However i do think this game gives you freedom to make your own build and waaay more than d4. Also u must remember its an early release of the game in which they are tuning and fixing for release. Im new to poe and even diablo but this game makes d4 look like garbage.

@ Yes but respeccing has crippled experimentation. Again I never said D4 was better than this game, but this game has some serious issues and respeccing is one of the most glaring. If you want people to experiment you have to incentivize them to do so, make it fun to go in blind find out your build sucks and respecc and try again. What they are fostering instead is an unhealthy push toward metas. The thing that they supposedly don’t want, because respeccing hurts so much right now almost everyone is scouring for viable builds from the start because they are worried about bricking their characters. That’s not healthy for a game in any way, it’s actually going to create this vicious cycle of streamer finds good build everyone hops on, build gets noticed build gets nerfed. Outrage people reroll and streamer finds new build and repeat. Respeccing needs a drastic overhaul and this is not hard to do or see. The worrisome thing is the design philosophy seems to be slow=difficult=good which is not sustainable. Nothing wrong with slower starts but trust when endgame continues to feel like a slog people will not return season after season.

@ You know what I never did in D4 for as much as people hate that game. I never looked up a build never felt the need to, if I messed up I respected and tried to create a new build from that, never felt punished for experimenting. Here though first character made, messed up tried to respecc realized I couldn’t even afford it even though I had been selling everything and exploring everywhere. So I rolled a new character and found a build online and followed that to the T, because I didn’t have to worry about trying to respecc. To be clear I never made it to Cat on Freeze so I really didn’t feel the nerf pain BUT I still see the writing on the wall. Not a good first impression at all, and it would be one thing if this was their first game sure but it’s not they’ve ran a very successful arpg for years. So I don’t really understand this it’s only in early access argument myself.

Pro tip: Set blink and conductivity to weapon set 2 only. This frees up spirit on weapon set 1 and lets you specialize curse duration nodes on weapon 2 for free.

To use the blink you will need to manually switch to the 2nd weapon slot. This is inconvenient. And this does not free the spirit, because the archmage is always included in the first slot. Or am I wrong? The advice about curses is excellent, thank you!

​@@VitVit-z5q Blink uses 60 spirit, you are basically getting it for free when you run it on weapon 2 with archmage off. But yes you have to manually swap or press curse before blinking, then pressing any other skill automatically swaps back. This can save you on many boss mechanics even if it's slightly inconvenient. I would not reccomend putting blink on weapon 1 because there are better uses for 60 spirit. Basically weapon 1 = damage, weapon 2 = utility. Many players also run a staff with sigil of power as weapon 2.

He says how it works in the video. The unique amulet gives you energy shield based off of maximum mana this happens at the same time as the eldritch battery changes the energy shield to mana. Therefore you still gain the maximum energy shield from the amulet even after eldritch battery converts your original es amount.

Hello, on the Early map build that you link in the description you support Spark with Controlled Destruction and then you takes node thats give spell more chance to critical hit (like the Notable Stormcharged) ! the problem currently is that a respec during levelling is impossible because it is super expensive. If you are new to the game, this is killing the fun because the more you are into it, the more you understand that you fucked up with the passives... and the alternative is either to roll a new toon or change class.

Just for quick reference, to fully respec at level 40 costs around 45k (including 2 ascendancy points). I agree with the hundreds of other comments I’ve seen from people saying that they really should have given everyone at least 1 free token to completely respec, especially when hitting us with such a huge nerf making basically all freezing builds useless. I’m just fortunate enough to have sold most of the loot from my 2 characters and had enough gold to go this route.

Been playing lightning all day. Absolutely love it. The only issue I had at my level is that the spec in the vid doesn’t have much energy shield early in the skill tree so I was a bit squishy and ended up deviating a bit at least for now just to get 4-5 extra points in energy shield increase/regen.

My guy I think you just saved my sorc. I’am at the end of act 3 and having to cast orb of storms, flame wall, mana tempest, conductivity, on top of spark is just way too much on controller especially in boss fights. I spent 2 hours trying to kill black jaw yesterday because I didn’t have enough time to do all that setup to do dmg to him. I literally started a new character yesterday because sorc feels so bad to play right now. I think this might of saved me from lvling a new class.

They made weapon swapping easy and weird at the same time in this game. The sigil of power is tied to your staff so when you cast the spell you automatically weapon swap to the staff and you only get the benefits from the weapon currently in hand. To automatically swap back to your wand and focus you need to adjust the spell settings in the skill panel at the bottom of the dps screen. I know this is not a step by step but hopefully that gets you going in the right direction.

@@IJPGamesI When you have the skill panel open, click on the arrow next to the dps number on the right. This will bring up another panel and at the bottom it will let you select if that skill will be available on weapon slot 1, 2 or both by checking the circles. You want all of your spells to be on the main weapon, not the staff. So if the staff is in weapon set 2 all spells should only have weapon set 1 selected. What this does is when you cast one of the spells that is only to be cast if weapon 1 is equipped, it will automatically swap it for you. Mess with this settings and watch your character's animation and hopefully it will make more sense.

I’m assuming you’re talking about the skill gem. You need a greater jewelers orb or you can use Vaal orbs on it to try RNG but expect it to brick or downgrade slots. Save 10-15exalts and buy a greater jewelers orb. I’m lvl 77 and haven’t picked up a greater orb yet sooo ye buy them

you can get 20% maximum energy shield on each jewel which is insane also you should have Weapon set 2 set with improved curses they scale all the way up to -75% enemy resistances and they are instant with huge aoe and 15s duration weapon swap is just OP as you already using it to cast Sigil of Power

Hi Nick, you have made a fundametal mistake in your build. **maximum energy shield nodes does absolutely nothing with Edritch battery. All these points are absolutely wasted. GGG does not allow double dipping of both ES and mana increase. Everything will be scaled under mana now. You need to adjust your tree to optimize it

I don’t even care about the nerf, but the cost to respec combined with needing to find 4-5 more jeweler orbs is ridiculous. If they’re going to nerf a popular skill out of the game entirely the least they could do is give us our gold and jeweler orbs back so we can easily switch. This is early access for fuck’s sake. Also worth noting that lightning is now the only decent option. Cold and fire both suck. If they’re going to obliterate cast on freeze they might want to consider buffing cold skills so they actually do some damage.

Hey Nick, I hope you read this and can help me out. I came from CoF. I can't even properly do T1 Maps with this build despite spending 100ex total. Im lvl 69, I have a 5L Spark lvl 19, 3.5k ES, 3.5k Mana, running your full endgame build. My Spark DPS tooltip only shows 5741 DPS. I don't get what I'm doing wrong. I checked the tree again and again, checked my links, everything... I'm somewhat lost :( Please help

Sounds like a survivability issue. Focus on resistances

@@NickTew My resistances are capped. It is clearly a DPS issue and I don't know where you get the missing DPS. My tooltip isn't even half of yours despite similar gear.

I play chrnomancer, similar build but I think its stronger. Mana is never a concern with rewind.
