And also the main reason I love this show is because of the love between Stefan and damon. Even though every girl comes between them. They can't just let go of each other. @@Web497 TVD focused too much on the love triangle more than the brothers. Brother bond was refreshing to watch, but never enough. The shipping in TVD and Damon constantly pining for Elena annoyed me because I'm not a shipper and Damon was my favorite character. While, you can try to compare characters between the 2 shows, The Originals didn't focus on shipping at all, but of course every show will have love interests, regardless. It was always centered around family, strictly and there was no actual love triangle that lasted for at least 3 seasons, unlike TVD.

@@Web497 but like I mean after like season 1 they like never leave each other and the first season focused on Hayley since the baby in her tum tum was the whole reason they had a spinoff.... anyways it was mostly about the baby which was apart of the family, season 2 based on dahlia and the family like working together to take down dahlia and klaus... anyways ye but the whole tvd plot was saving elena and picking between damon and stefan soooo ye....

And deep down Stefan knows he loves Damon and he knows eventually his emotions will come back and when they do he will have to go through that pain of letting his brother die when he could have saved him.

I just love Damon and Elena relationship development so much. In Season 1 Episode 6 she was so scared from Damon she said there "Stay away from me " and now in this Episode she trust him that much that she just go to sleep in front of Damon just laying on her bed. Just love that❤❤ #Delena💜💜

One of my favorite parts of this show is the lore it builds into the show. A lot of vampire movies and shows don't explain where they came from and I like that this show does especially since it's such an interesting story!

I've had the perception that Stefan's ripper-ness, while it can be connected to a physical trait of Stefan's, it's also connected to Stefan's personal emotional issues, fear, anxiety, guilt, pain, anger, self-loathing and/or resentment. Maybe connections to their lives before they turned help with the emotion switch.

That's one of things i loved about TVD; this is best origin story about vampires; someone who loved her children so much that she didn't want to lose one of them and guy who hated the monsters who stole the life of his son so much that he didn't want him to be inferior to them ever again.

You’re right family ties and brotherly bonds, that’s one of the two significant messages of this show. The other, very important one that all of the main characters will repeatedly bring to our attention is ”there HAS to be another way”/ ”there’s always a loophole”. No matter how hopeless or scary a situation might be that the characters will find themselves in in the course of all eight seasons, they always keep trying to find a solution, even if they’re told there is none. That message is so beautiful and gives me hope for our lives today in a messed up world that seems to become more menacing every day. It’s so important to never give up and to keep thinking positive thoughts. As for the humanity switch, it means to feel a void inside, no emotions whatsoever, no guilt, no compassion, zero - just pure indifference. I doubt though it is the same for everyone, I think how deep that indifference runs depends on what kind of person you used to be before you flipped the switch. Someone like Stefan who cared deeply about others as a human and as a vampire can still be brought back by the brother he switched off his humanity for in the first place, because there’s still love in his heart, deep down inside. Others, however, who never cared much about anything or anyone in their life might be much harder to bring back.

Well, it didn't take long to see this episode. Hate or love each other, the bond between Stefan and Damon is unbreakable. Even Elena can't get over the love the Salvatores have for each other, for better or for worse. They would fight each other to the death but in the end they would give their lives for each other. Forever. Defan is the heart of the series and I was delighted that Elena realized that. To me, as a spectator, it seemed very beautiful and real. There I fully realized what the true relationship was and the most important in the series. You are great and your thoughts are very interesting ... Keep it up ...

@@akdrzllol1698 I loved elena but it wasn't hate for elena that made me sick, that's just a character it was hate for her. When nina and Ian broke up, she took the brunt of it. And that's the way it usually happens. Because she didn't want to get married, have children yet, she was raked over the coals pretty bad. But "poor ian". I can't call them fans, because normal people don't send death threats for her, her family. Same thing with Leah from originals. She was threatened all the time cuz of her cami and klaus relationship. I was a klaroline fan, but damn. Crazy. Love my tv shows but sick of the hate

You forgot something. The part where Rose talked to Damon about the key to humanity. If you remember, Rose said that when you have just become a vampire, the key to humanity really has an effect, but after a few hundred years it no longer has an effect, and only you, who are subconsciously pretending to turn it off. The way to turn on the humanity switch of intense emotions. Every emotion. Anger, sadness, joy or fear, but to a great extent

Your observation about Stefan is why I think that at least part of what makes him a "ripper" is the traumatic way he turned (accidentally eating his dad /o\).

Frankly, I’d find it much more traumatic to die at the hands of my own father who shot both of his sons, because his hate for vampires was bigger than his love for his own flesh and blood. Makes you question who the real monster is - the father’s decision to kill his sons was deliberate, Stefan killing his dad was an accident, and tasting his blood was instinct, being a newly turned vampire in transition.

Yes, Klaus, Rebekah, and Elijah have all been on the run since Klaus killed his Mom. After their Mother's death, they stayed together with Finn and Kol as well for a while. Klaus daggered Finn pretty early on, he's been in a coffin for about 900 years at this point in the story. Kol was daggered as well at multiple points over time by Klaus. Glad you're liking this show as much as I do.

You have been quick to pick up the real heart and center of the show... A lot of people believed that it was about Stefan and Elena in the start or Damon and Elena... The show has always been about the relationship between Stefan and Damon. The Vampire Diaries is, in it's core, about the Salvatore brothers... And yes, the lore, just surrounding The Original Family gets bigger and bigger, so big in fact that they had to make a whole other show for them LOL... They are my fav characters and their spinoff show is, in my opinion, even better than this one.

With all due respect to Lexi for everything she did for Stefan and their shining and epic friendship but her method only buffered Stefan's problem but never solved. When you have a food problem they do not take away the food the specialist teaches you to eat and therefore Stefan needs to learn to eat to control himself what he is doing Damon is the right thing also because as you can see he does not always lose control so impossible it is not. Obviously it takes time and to be followed as Damon does not beyond that Stefan also needs to accept what is a vampire and live lighter without so many dramas also because remaining so that at times he drinks blood and at other times he becomes a ripper never resolving his self-control unfortunately there will always be other supernatural creatures to enslave him to taking advantage of his problem as in this case Klaus. Another fundamental aspect of this episode is the fact that as we have seen having humanity turned off does not mean not having or rather being devoid of any emotion, Stefan once again when he saved Damon from Maikaelson had emotions is like, l love for his brother and Maikaelson has learned that in order to get the information about Klaus, Damon is Stefan's weak point is the vital person in Stefan's life with him who can move Stefan's humanity. Of great importance and beauty Damon and Elena in bed. She knows very well that Stefan loves her but not at her brother's level she knows that she is not vital to Stefan because Stefan is not vital to Elena as well, cheers what Elena said to Damon, mature and aware of what she said and as it is important that the two brothers are well together recovering their relationship. The dialogue between Stefan and Damon at the end is equally important, Damon has the weight that his brother is in this situation for having saved him and tries in his own way to help him, Damon does not like having to give someone something to be in "debt" and unfortunately Stefan makes him weigh this and does not get much help. Stefan also tells him an important thing about humanity shows him to Damon to realize how much humanity Damon neither has even if the ironic saying actually told a great truth unfortunately but Damon cannot grasp 100% his humanity because when he is willing to doing so something happens which makes him put aside by grabbing more of his vampire side.

I think Mikael's anger towards Klaus stemmed from seeing Klaus as someone who didn't take life seriously, was careless and/or reckless. And well, Klaus being reckless did lead to his brother dying by werewolves. I wonder if that's also connected to Mikael killing a bunch of them after he became a vampire. Though I also don't necessarily think you're idea is out of the question, of Mikael having known for a long time that Klaus wasn't his, but maybe he didn't know that he was the son of a werewolf and that's apart of what set him off. Maybe, if He wills, and thank God for all these ideas, Mikael was the one who finished the story on the cave.
