@Royda Urey: I love the Liberian collard greens. Not too many African Countries cook collard greens like the Liberian women do. I wish you would have given him some collard green because Ghanaian don’t cook collard green. The spicy dried rice & toborghee were too hot. When I worked in Liberia I stayed away from those two and palm butter because Liberians put too much pepper in them. I called those three spicy food good laxative treatment. Lol. Good job on your collaboration. Oh! Those Liberian women can bake some good cakes, corn bread, short bread and different pies like their Caribbean cousins.

Portuguese explorers called it the Malaguetta coast or pepper coast because when they got there in the 1400's in search of spices and gold, and Ivory, they found the Liberian coast to have a lot of peppers and rice as well. Grain coast was also another name given by European navigators because they found a lot of rice fields in Liberia. Liberian pepper is not to be played with. That stuff will burn you from the top of your head to your rectum ha ha. Pepper is used as natural medicine in part of west Africa against many common diseases including cold, fever, constipation and so on. Pepper is also used in rituals. Even ancient egyptians used it in preparing dead bodies. These rituals and ancient traditions using pepper are still a reality in the traditions of some parts of Africa.

The word “spoon” has five letters in it, which is equal to all five fingers 🖐🏾, this means in Africa we already have our natural spoon 😀

As a fellow Liberian, I like pepper but I dont like that much hot pepper in my food 🤣🤣. It can disguise the overall flavor in dishes. Sweet pepper is my favorite. Thanks philimena for representing👍🏾
