Sanjay, for price per pair (from Sweetwaer) to use in a 12x12 bedroom (right now only have IK Micros)- JBL305P ($240), 306P ($300), or 308P ($400)? Versus Yamaha HS4 ($188), HS5 ($300), or HS7 ($525)? The IK sound great for size and lower volumes but not full enough to be only monitors. I am more space and loudness limited than cost. Thanks.

One thing about the D3Vs is that for people who want to supplement the bottom end and use an audio interface, they can be run as satellites off of a sub such as the T10S. That does, however, rule out the use of USB-C, but for a small room and a tiny desk, the D3V + T10S seems like a winning scenario.

I use the Adam T7V (a little bit bigger version of the T5V) and dual REL HT/1003 v.1 subs. Technically ribbon tweeters and air motion transformer tweeters are two pretty different types of drivers, with different design principles as well as very different strengths and weaknesses.

@@SanjayC I did, but budget was a concern so I determined that the A series (for the same size bass driver) was only maybe 1.4x better but at 3.2x the price, and decided to go with the T7V. No regrets, I really like them.

I had the Yamaha HS5's and grew tired of them pretty quick, that nasty midrange bump they have got to me. I prefer the HS8' to the HS5s. I replaced them on my one setup with a pair the the Kali IN-5 thier 3-way speakers. They are nice I still use them but not my favorites. On my recording setup I have Adam T7V and love them and were less expensive than the Kali's. The Adam's ribbon tweeter sound great and I can listen to them all day without ear fatigue. I also like the stereo imaging for the Adams. I'm planning to rearrange my music room and might switch back to the HS5 for awhile, since so many people like them.

I changed my speakers in January, so my experiences are fresh.I listened to the studio monitors listed here. I'm not in a hurry, I thought about it for 2 months, read tests and listened.I did the test in a music store, under professional acoustic conditions. I didn't like the Yamaha at all, because it didn't have bass,it sounded too thin to me. I liked the highs of the Adam audio, but this T series is very entry level,i don't like it. The A series , which I might buy, but it's not cheap. I didn't give the JBLs too much time because the Kali put them down, but I didn't really like them, even though I like the brand.Fun fact as far as I know the Kali audio is made by JBL engineers. In the end, I decided on the Kali in5, because although it has less bass, there are three way, you can hear the vocals more clearly, and the stereo image is very good, which you can only experience in a higher price category.I didn't regret buying it, but if I were to buy it now, I think I would buy the bigger ones, the IN8.It is important to know that these cheaper category monitors have Class B amplifiers, which are a bit noisy. Since we are talking about near-field monitors, you should pay attention to this when buying. The point is, go and listen to these monitors, even several times, before you make the wrong decision.Good luck!

Thank you very much, Sanjay. Very interesting. Well, if I’d buy some I’d choose the Kali ones, the KRK ones or the Yamaha ones. First choice: the Kali monitors. (I’ve never heard the name Harbinger.) But I don‘t need to buy studio monitors as I have a pair of KRK 5 Gen 4, which I‘m very satisfied with, and a pair of Presonus Eris E8 XT, which make some humming noise when I switch them on. (I can‘t hear that when music comes out of them). I don’t use them often as the KRK monitors are enough for my needs. I also mix with headphones. Thanx for letting your wonderful animals take part.

Hi Sanjay, I have a curious question about what PC monitor you use. It seems fairly large. Does it work well for you? I am using a 32" HP (NO ANTI GLARE) and 2 -Asus 24" with Anti-Glare for sidebar work. I don't like the Anti-Glare monitors because the detail is not there compared to the 32" I have and I have been trying to find a mate for it. Ableton Live looks razor sharp on my monitor so I ordered a second 9 months later and they went to the Anti-Glare version. Actually ordered 2 from Amazon and each time they swore they were not Anti-Glare. So I have been on a quest to find a Non-Anti-Glare monitor for a while now with No success, only. What are you using? Hey Sanjay ! Great video. I just picked up a pair of Yamaha HS 7s. I’m loving them so far.
