Oh my dear Tipper, I know we don’t know each other but I surely wished we were neighbors. I was born in WV, then moved to GA, moved to Boston from 2-10, PA from 10-15 and been in Va Beach ever since. In college (didn’t graduate) but I fell in love with a little mountain boy from Western VA..what a treat to get to know his family, eat her biscuits, fish with corn in their creek….we parted ways but it impressed me how they lived. I joined a bluegrass band also around the same time, sang and played mandolin. I’m 60, just turned and your channel takes me to a simpler time, oh that was so sweet. Bought your book and I just love it. Y’all be well. I pray for you and your dear family. Love, Sue

We made a soup with butter beans. We sautéed the cooked beans with olive oil garlic and salt and pepper. Then added them to a pot with a small can of tomato sauce, water and cooked pasta. Add Parmesan cheese and let it cook a little while. Your dinner looks so good! Camera works well too. Much brighter and sound is great!

That is a feast. :) I can remember meals like this in the summers with the cousins, Aunt & Uncle, Grandma & Grandpa. We'd have peaches & home made ice cream that we each took turns cranking. YUMMM I think we used Lima beans for the green ones & butter beans were the Large White ones.

My grandfather always had a garden and grew zipper peas, green beans, butter beans, silver Queen corn, and tomatoes of course you really had to in order to get by. He felt lucky to be able to go on to an agricultural high school back in about 1918 in Mississippi. In his older days he and some of the other older neighborhood gents would co-op their crops that kept us all pretty well fed. Your videos always bring back so many good memories.❤

I haven't shelled peas with my parents in years and I'll never get to again, but I know those peas were delicious. They were made even better shelling them yourself. I call them butter beans when they're white and dried, but I've often called them Lima beans when they're frozen and green. Good video. Great channel. I didn't grow up in Appalachia, but this channel feels like home.
