I love broccoli sprouts! I use them in salads and on my sandwiches. I love that the kit does not take up much space. Thanks, Tamara. Enjoy your visit with your cousins. We used to have a large family gathering at Keuka Lake every year but haven’t in years.

This was great Tamara!! I have a sprouting kit from when I used to sprout beans, so if i can find some seeds, I will definitely give this a try. It's perfect for summer salads! In the meantime, I'm going to make a WF run tomorrow and will check to see if they have any fresh. Enjoy your summer in one of my favorite parts of the country! xo Cheryl

Awesome how-to. Thank you, Tamara (we had the funeral for our friend yesterday so I’m just not great. Birthday is next Sunday. Quite the juxtaposition.) Anyway, I have a quick question maybe you can help me with: I have tried broccoli compound supplements far away from my thyroid meds (No thyroid) and it starts interfering with my thyroid hormone absorption. A few days and my labs are really screwed up. Do you think the actual sprouts would be better and used more in moderation than every day in a thyroid situation? I keep hearing conflicting opinions regarding cruciferous vegetables and my condition and have experienced negative effects if I eat too much raw. I generally steam or partially cook these (spinach too). My physician can’t figure it out (they’re an integrative md) so I thought maybe you might have some insight. I definitely want the benefits but without compromising my hormone absorption. Wordy way to ask: Are the sprouts less concentrated in the sulpherophane? ( sp) Enjoy your visit with your family. 💜

I love broccoli sprouts - --and as regular broccoli doesn't agree with my gut, thank goodness they are SO nutritious. I've not tried growing them for fear of the possible mold but the vinegar tip seems like a great solution. I shall try that! Like you, I also freeze my sprouts for smoothies since I had read that it made them even more of a powerhouse. Thanks for sharing Tamara. Enjoy your visit with cousins! 😊

Thank you Sallie! Good point on the sprouts being easier on digestion. Interestingly, I actually feel a little safer growing my own, rather than wondering how long they have been in transit or sitting on the shelf at the store. Though I have never had any issues with any of the broccoli sprouts I have ever purchased at my trusted local health food store. But growing my own will safe me a ton of $$! Happy Sunday!

Good morning! After seeing your video I tried this myself and am now a dedicated Sprout Mama. I live in France. My aunt is currently visiting me from Colorado and I've gotten her hooked! When she returns home she'll get going on her own-already has the set up. Question: from whom do you buy your seeds? Seeds are SO much more expensive in the US as opposed to Europe. Thanking you in advance.
@TamarasTimelessBeauty Жыл бұрын
Yay! I’m so glad you and your Aunt are loving the broccoli sprouts! I just order from Amazon. Prices fluctuate and I’m not brand loyal…I just look for Organic Broccoli sprouting Seeds. They usually have large quantities the last a long time. Hope this helps!!

@@TamarasTimelessBeauty Yes, we have been looking on Amazon, and at the website of The Sprouthouse (which was the brand you linked on Amazon in your original video remarks) so that was a helpful start. Thanks so much for getting back to me. Incidentally I only discovered your channel about 6 mos. ago. Really enjoy your content but especially the lovely but thorough way in which you present it. 👍👍

Hi Tamara, I bought a kit here in Canada and I have made sprouts twice I put them in smoothies but the ones I put in the freezer when they thawed out looked mushy so I threw them out. Did I freeze them wrong or are they suppose to be wet. They also sent me seeds for bean sprouts haven’t tried them yet. Hugs Bea
@TamarasTimelessBeauty Жыл бұрын
Yay! That’s awesome Bea! No, that’s normal, they do get mushy/watery when they thaw. Actually I like to add to smoothies while still frozen…once they thaw and get mushy/watery there’s not much you can do with them. The unfrozen ones can be used for salads and sandwiches. And yes, you can sprout a variety of seeds using the same method but I’ve only done broccoli sprouts…so far.

You soak in water for 8-10 hours, or drain water and let them sit overnight? I’m confused as you said you got up at night and drained them.
@TamarasTimelessBeauty Жыл бұрын
@@CJ86738 sorry for the confusion! I put written directions in The description box, but the first day after the 15 min in vinegar water, rinse well then soak in water 8-10 hours, rinse and drain. After that you rinse and drain 3x a day till harvest. Hope this helps! ❤️

Why did my sprouts mold i don’t know where i went wrong
@TamarasTimelessBeauty9 ай бұрын
I haven't had that problem. Are you using vinegar in the initial soak? If they are molding in the jar they might be too warm or left in jar too long or not rinsed enough? I usually "harvest" on day 3 or 4, 5 at the latest, and often put them directly in the freezer since i mostly use them for smoothies. If it happens repeatedly it's possible you got a bad batch of seeds? Hope this helps!
@saemae11699 ай бұрын
@@TamarasTimelessBeauty i haven’t used vinegar with it though. I’ll try it
