I've hit that shot a zillion times. I always use it to ride the wind when it is right to left. Three keys for me. Tee it high, go through ball in an upward direction with the clubhead (aka - the path of your hands), and ESPECIALLY keep you head from even moving a smidgen past the ball near impact. It is critical to come into the ball from the inside and not go over the top. Riding a right to left wind with this high draw adds a lot of distance at any age. I've hit this shot so many times the set-up and delivery is almost automatic.

I just wanted to say thank you. I am 53 and have a titanium rod in my right leg from breaking both tibula and fibula. The way you described specifically the release of the wrists is spot on. I was kinda in bewteen the rolling of the right wrist as to more of casting of it and hitting alot of fades and slices. I have a garage golf simulator with a skytrack and after I kinda got the feel I hit in concession drives that I would be happy with on the course. Carried 225 at 2400 backspin and 129 ball speed. Not making money but fairway and iron in play. Was already setting up similar to you described as far as aiming more right that way I could place my right foot back to open up better. Again thank you.

Steve Pratt Golf I just did. I’ve never ever really worked on distance before. I’m a fairly new player, less than 3 years. My focus has been controlling my ball flight, consistency, learning my distances with each club, short game and just accepting my carry distances ... whatever comes with a smooth natural swing for me. I think it’s time I actively work on getting more distance now. I know my swing and can always get back to where I was ... You’re da bomb! Thanks. I’ll let you know, when things get back more to normal, what happens after these exercises.

I was watching Cogorno videos and he did a lesson with you using the Speed Woosh and throw-out technique. I was hooked, looked for more of your videos and subscribed. Currently drilling on right cheek, left cheek and shallowing the club. I do Crossfit and have reasonable strength and mobility though improvement is my focus this winter. I'm 67 and typically hit my 7 iron around 160 yards. I recently was fitted to a new driver and 3 wood because through launch monitors and actual play, I was losing distance. Typical carry with the driver was around 210 to 220 yards. Attack angle was -4 and slightly over the top. Swing speed was in the 90's with the driver. It seems that any swing flaw is amplified as the shaft gets longer and especially with the woods and driver. My question to you is, without grooving of the proper kinematic sequence, is it appropriate to try to swing faster with the SS Sticks? I understand the theory of tricking the body's neuro pathways to fire faster than accustomed, but will they follow the most efficient path to strike a ball? I'm currently in the first 6 weeks of training and see some benefit to swings on the nondominant side. I complete my workout with swinging my Speed Woosh which has measured 130 mph. Finally, I really enjoyed and gleaned a lot of great instruction from your video of the 4 handicap student and use of the chair. The positioning of him at impact was priceless! Thank you for your gift of relaying information and obvious love for the game.

@@Inmotion70 Thanks for the response Steve. My question is, using the Super Speed Sticks may aid in achieving faster clubhead speeds, but if I haven't ingrained the right glute, left glute contact and throw-out technique with 50% effort, will the increase be wasted because of a flawed kinematic sequence?

64 year old here with a 97 MPH swing but with a terrible negative attack angle like -4.5. A couple of set up questions. I totally get the closed set up, but you have you feet square, right? You don't have your right foot back, correct? I was also curious if you have students who, like me, struggle with wild smash factor numbers if I tilt as much as you suggest? When I tilt more in an effort to hit up on it, I hit it all over the place. That being said, if I could hit up on it I could carry it 25 yards farther as I carry it now about 230. I'm a decent player - 4.3 index. Love your site btw. Thanks

Great video! I understand that you start the rolling of the forearms already from the top of your swing.......or do you start rolling when your club is parallel to the ground (hip high)?

I feel like I start snapping and rolling the forearms on this type of swing right after I step down onto my left heel...so pretty darn early.

hi Steve, great videos for us Senior golfers. Can you please explain me why if I swing with the left arm only I reach easily a swing speed of 9O and also 92 -92 nd with both arms I reach 78 -82? Wha ts the physical or mechanic reason for this? Thanks

I hit it in the high 80’s/low 90´s. My best drives are short of 230 yards with the roll. I am a 5 handicap desperatly in need of distance to go to the next level. I’m 63 years old.
@Inmotion70
@Inmotion70 3 жыл бұрын
CHS averages around 90? Unless you play somewhere soft, you should be averaging around 20 more yards...so something is missing. Additionally, you can probably gain 5-10 mph more speed in the coming months.

That is why I’m watching your vidéos and comparing it with my own swing (Hudl technique app). Will try to take another view at my CHS (« playing speed » with a driver) using my radar before winter hit us in a couples weeks and close the golf courses...😊

8 degree vs 4 degree? Would you kindly advise whether my comprehension is correct? At the normal address with feet, hips and shoulders are parallel to "the target line", if I aim my driver club-face is squarely aiming to the "target line"and swing alone the target line, my ball flight would be straight along the target line. Now to get high draw, firstly I need to control (manipulate) my shoulders and hips and swing direction 8 degree the right of "target line", if so, my ball would be normally and straightly go to right of the "target line" by 8 degree. Then how to get 4 degree? Should I need to close my driver's club face by 4 degree or so then grip it while at the initial stage of my normal address position? Thus after my griping of a 4 degree closed club-face and swing to the right up to 8 degree, my ball would be draw back to closer to the "target line"? One more question: If I adjust my adjustable Callaway driver by +2 (more loft), will my club-face to be "more closed than neutral position by 2 degree" while grounding? If so, I just simply grip my driver while grounding during the initial address position? If this method is working, then I can skip the action of creating 4 degree of relative club-face closeness, vs 8 degree of swing direction to the right? Looking forward to having your kind advice to my above long lasting questions.

If you hit upwards on the ball 8 degrees also, your club path will actually be really close to neutral.

Hi Tobias! It depends a great deal on your angle of attack. And the brand and model. So I can only give you a general guess of 8.5 to 10.5 degrees.

Okay, let me put down my Paulaner Marzen...you're in a wet climate, so you need carry. Shaft length 112cm, R flex, 11 or 12* head, neutral dynamic lie (test and adjust). Hit with 3-5* up attack angle. Swing like Steve and hit the center of the face. Greetings from Oregon

@@highsnburgers4862 Trackman has a separate chart to optimize for carry. My adjustment would only be about a degree. My best hit yesterday was 307 carry and 334 total, would take it to 317 carry and 328 total.

My age is closing in on 80 my ss is 82-90 depending on what hole I am on yet even with your setup, tee high, inside path, uppercut swing etc etc i get maybe 180-190,there is no roll here in the midwest in April. One question too, which you touched on in your video as to the club face at address so you have the shoulders hips and feet closed and the club face? Is it straight at your target or slightly facing off to the right just not as much as the rest of the setup ? Thanks for the good video
