@Ignatius David Partogi I was thinking that an Ice Beam would wreck Flame Wheel or Flare Blitz. The beam meets the flames, melts and soaks the fire type. That kind of logic would fit better in the anime or manga anyway, not in actual games anyway. If Ice Beam isn't strong enough then Ice Hyper Beam will absolutely destroy any fire type that makes a mistake of using Flame Wheel/Flare Blitz.

@Ignatius David Partogi I read the move descriptions, most of Ice type attacks are about cold, not ice. Though there's one move the fire types are terrified of. It's Avalanche. When it hits with base power 120, it's stronger than Hydro Pump. It also cools down the victim more than a Water type attack would.

Since Stealth Rock will screw up most ice-type teams, it may help to have something with Rapid Spin or Defog if you're willing to swap something. Rapid Spin leaves you with Alola Sandslash, Cryognal, Avalugg or Delibird While Defog leaves you with Articuno, Delibird, or Cryognal P.S. Don't actually switch in Delibird

Overall good team, but I would rather have Stone edge > Ice fang on mamoswine, amazing coverage, and ice fang is so unnessecary, no clear Z user so I would rather go for a Z-celebrate set on glaceon with normalium Z happy hour, ice beam, and your choice on coverage. Overall pretty good team but if you didn’t have your restrictions I would rather have Kyu-W with a scarf set over Jynx, and I would rather go for a Light Clay Aurora veil set on Ninetales-A (quick edit) Avalugg has a case over Glaceon with Recover and rocky helmet, Sturdy is just too amazing to pass up but to sum it all up this is my “competitive” ice team Weavile Kyu-W/B (depends if your playing monotypes, if not W, B if you are since W is banned) Alolan Ninetales with light clay Cloyster shell smash set with Waterium Z hydro pump Alolan sandslash slush rush (great speed control)

I’d honestly replace Glaceon for Cloyster. Why? It’s pretty simple. It’s an ice type with some of the most beefy defenses ever, it has the ability “Skill Link” that can guarantee all multi hit damaging moves hitting 5 times, and lastly, it has Rapid Spin and Shell Smash. Rapid Spin to deal with Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and one of the ice types’ worst enemies, Stealth Rocks. She’ll Smash will lower Cloyster’s defenses, yes, but it increases its Attack, Sp. Atk (which it doesn’t need as much), and speed. And since Cloyster’s physical defense is as high as it is, it doesn’t matter. Just beware of special hits. I’d use the King’s Rock for it so its Icicle Spears will guarantee a flinch, or Focus Sash to make sure it doesn’t die in one hit, as long as its HP is full. The two moves I’d use are Icicle Spear, Rock Blast/Razor Shell (depending on preference), Rapid Spin, and Shell Smash.

Alolan Ninetales is one my Top 5 favorite pokemon so I was really happy when you picked it for this team (and used it for the thumbnail), but I feel that the Hidden Power should have been Ground since it covers all of the pokemon's major weaknesses (Steel, Rock, Poison, and Fire).

I think Mamoswine would work better with Stone Edge or Rock Slide instead of both Ice Fang & Icicle Crash. I'd probably toss ice fang as I dont see the point of having 3 ice moves. Rock move can at least cover fire and opposing ice types.

For Glalie, I'd give it Explosion in place of body slam to absolutely nuke an opponent. I'd give Mamoswine another good coverage move in place of Ice Fang. Alolan Ninetails screams Arora Veil. They should really consider changing Ice type to Cold type since it's be much more useful than just water ice. Then again it'd probably be OP. It'd be strong against: Steel (cold temperatures make metal brittle) Rock and Ground (low temperatures can cause the earth to crack because of how water expands when it freezes) Dragon (reptiles can't stand cold temperatures) Water (the cold freezes water, obviously) Grass (most plant life can't stand the cold) Bug (most arthropods can't stand the cold) Flying (flying animals migrate during cold seasons) And poison (animal venom is a liquid which can freeze) But only weak against: Fire (should be obvious) And Fighting (many martial artist monks are portrayed as living in cold places and resisting the cold)

Wasted Ninetales. Aurora Veil, Protect, Blizzard, Moonblast/Dazzling Gleam would do you much better I think, it's how I run mine and it works amazing, Having Snow Warning, Blizzard is 100% accuracy, Protect allows the hail to break focus sashes and or just stall for hail damage, Aurora Veil is Reflect AND Light Screen with the use of a single move and having it hold Light Clay will make that last for 8 turns, I also make sure to run it Timid Nature because it's super strong in the Hail anyhow, full EVs in Sp Atk and Speed

I like this team but I have a couple of complaints: I know you don't have much to work with with Mega Glalie, but I'd prefer you'd change up the move set, not a big fan of three ice type moves, my choice is replace either Body Slam or Ice Shard (Ice Shard is the more useful, in my opinion) with either Earthquake or Energy Ball. Earthquake is powerful and has good coverage, and Energy Ball is decent coverage with a special attacking option. I like your Alolan Ninetales set alright, but I'd make it more of an Aurora Vail/Icy Rock set, replace Freeze-Dry with Aurora Vail and Choice Specs with Icy Rock. Mamoswine with three ice-type moves too is a problem. I'd replace Ice Fang with Iron Head, Knock Off, Stealth Rock, or Rock Slide/Stone Edge. You could also replace Ice Shard with one of those, but I'm okay with it due to Mamoswine's below-average speed. Personally, I like Cloyster better as an Ice-type tanker than Glaceon with Liquidation/Icicle Spear/Spikes/Explosion or Spikes. But Glaceon is alright, too, just maybe not as Toxic-stall, in my opinion. Charge Beam is alright on Regice, but I prefer the consistency of Thunderbolt.

Personally, I’m hoping Shield and Sword will give us the remaining unused Type combinations. Ice has a few left with some potential: Normal, Fire, Poison, Bug, and Dragon (on a non-Legendary). Depending on stats and abilities, Ice might become more viable. But they also need more moves like Freeze-Dry, to deal extra damage with resistant Types.

If they make another Ice ability for Gen 8 Sword & Shield I hope they make call frozen body Frozen body would be a unique ability when you or your opponent hit a Ice type Pokémon by contact (physical) the Pokémon would be frozen but it only last for 3 turns to be defrost not like other ice type moves (ice beam or ice punch etc) unless if there a fire type Pokémon or fire type move (physical) you get a free pass prevent getting frozen from that ability except for ice type moves

I hate that Ice type Pokémon are competitively the worst type because there are so many good ones. My personal favorite is Mamoswine and I have an attachment to it because I was raising a Piloswine in Diamond and it knew Ancient Power and not long after, it evolved which shocked me and I became an instant fan of it. Beartic, Weavile, Lapras, Abomasnow, Glalie and Glaceon are other Ice types that I love but Mamoswine holds a special place for me.

Return and Body Slam feels extremely redundant on Glalie. Ditto for Icicle Crash and Ice Fang on Mamoswine. Also no Aurora Veil on Nintetales. Oof.
