Can you plz drop the pinned location for starting and end of the going to the sun scenic road ? We will be visiting from Alberta Canada next month

It basically runs from “West Glacier” to “Saint Mary” depending on which side of the park you start on. Make sure you have a timed entry reservation!

Great video! I recently was in Glacier and snagged a canoe at Many Glacier Hotel. Highly recommend if you can fit it in your schedule :)

Do you think we can still rent a canoe in September after the Many Glacier Hotel is closed for the season. We arrive September 18th.

It doesn’t look like it, looks like they shut things down Sept 15th this year, otherwise I’d suggest emailing the hotel to ask directly

This is a great video especially for the avid hikers! We plan to do most of the ones you mentioned. Have you ever done the cracker lake hike?

Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it! I haven’t had a chance to do that one yet, definitely on my list for next time we go back. I’ve heard that’s a good one to do on horseback if it’s something you (or anyone else) is interested in as well. We only had time for that or Iceberg Lake so we went with Iceberg!

You said a ceratin part of the park wasn't open until mid July? I'm going June 22-28. Hope its all open then.

Going to the Sun Road (which provides access to Logan’s Pass) and allows you to cut through the park, doesn’t fully open some years until mid July. It really just depends on the snowfall each year. If it’s closed when you visit, you should still be able to reach Avalanche Lake, Lake McDonald and I would assume the Many Glacier area. Two Medicine will likely be open as well. But Logan’s Pass gives you access to Hidden Lake and The Highline, which might not be accessible in June.

@@travelwithwes If Logan Pass is open when we go does Going to the Sun Road give you all the same views as the Highline? It says the Highline trail goes right above Going to the Sun Road. But is it just for a few miles or does the highline trail go above the Sun Road for the entire trail?

The views are different once you get past the short section near the start that follows the road. It’s a tough hike but one of my favorites in the park especially if you make it to Granite Park Chalet and the Grinnell Overlook. Just be prepared for a long day!

what do i do if i see a bear? am i in serious danger if i see a bear?

They usually aren’t interested in you - make some noise as you’re hiking, and carry bear spray

I really want to go there but am absolutely terrified of grizzly bears.
@travelwithwes
@travelwithwes 11 ай бұрын
The reality is you could definitely run into one out there. But the other side of that coin is that they generally aren’t interested in humans. If you practice good bear safety you’ll be fine. Be sure to make noise as you hike and carry bear spray. There are lots of good videos on KZbin discussing what to do if you ever have a close encounter! Don’t let that possibility keep you from exploring Glacier.

Hiking in Many Glacier. Came upon a group of @20 people. 100 ft ahead was a bend in the trail. Beyond that bend was a bear, a ranger, and another group of people. At one point the bear stuck her nose around the bend to see if there was anywhere to go. Several people in the group pulled out their bear spray. 😮 I wanted to ask them what their plan was. Were they going to be heroes and run ahead to save us? Or will they stand their ground and just spray them in the crowd? This is why I hike alone. Don't be stupid.
