Yeah, BJJ guys are awful at takedowns and scrambling during takedowns. They much prefer to lay on their back with their feet in the air
@nosho409 Жыл бұрын
@@slipperysteve8 this is incentivized by the ruleset though. I was more referring to the sick front headlock work and super proactive top control displayed here. BJJ can definitely take something from that without resorting to a pin driven ruleset

Gomez doesn't always get it done with those throws of his, but man I love to watch him wrestle, so entertaining.
@rustygray5058 Жыл бұрын
His knee wasn't ready for this. He got a lot of throws in the NCAAs this year because he literally couldn't lower his level to attack the legs.

@@rustygray5058 oohhhh, didn't know he was injured, that's unfortunate, he's a great wrestler, when he's on he can beat anyone
@rustygray5058 Жыл бұрын
@@sc-wrestling Yeah, he got hurt badly half-way through the duel meet season. He tried to wrestle in the Big10 championship and had to injury default. Then he had to apply for an "at large" entry to the NCAAs to even compete. Going into the season he was expected to win both events, and there's still a chance that he will do just that next year.

A lot of wrestlers cross train judo for that very reason
@dannydonnelly81982 ай бұрын
@@rustygray5058 Not in the US since Judo gyms are rare here and the gripping is a lot different with the same throws . Judo is used as a last ditch effort to win in Folkstyle so you usually don't see the best wrestlers resorting to it due to them being so good with leg attack takedowns and top control.

Dom Demas regressed every year he was at OU. He finished 4th at NCAAs as a true freshman and never finished on the podium again, winning fewer matches at each succeeding tournament. OU ruined that kid, the same way NU ruined Venz.
