In terms of the lantern festival, I'd also recommend the one on Buddha's birthday(Yeondeunghoe, lantern lighting festival. usually in May and it's National Intangible Cultural Heritage and Intangible Cultural Heritage of the world as well). Thank you very much and happy new year.

I really like this new video series of travel tips and ideas. I'm still figuring out when to do my second trip to Korea and am thinking March/April or Sept/Oct (again), but this time without my bicycle. Your videos are so helpful for my planning. I was thinking March/April, but the pollution and fine/yellow dust is a bit discouraging. Am I right in thinking most people wear masks when outside during this season? Other topics for videos could be ... a) What areas within cities are most interesting to stay in ... Seoul, Jeonju, Busan, Jeju, etc. Although it's easy to subway around, having interesting things to walk to around or near your hotel or for an evening stroll always seems a bit more fun. My first trip I stayed near Myeongdong, which was great but now I know it's a bit more on the touristy side. b) Exploring markets like Gwangjang was one of my favourite activies. Knowing your favourite markets in cities around Korea would be great. c) Favourite one days hikes around Korea, perhaps with help in how to get to and from the trailhead. In Seoul, I did the hike up Inwangsan Mountain and it was one of my best days. d) I know you've covered some of this in your other videos, but help with the logistics of getting around places once you get off the train or leave the airport. For example, to explore Jeju Island for a week or two, would you just use the bus system, or would renting a car be best? I already know I'll miss my bike when I go to Jeju for the first time. e) Food you should try when you're in Korea, with the Korea spelling and options you might be presented with on the menu. Perhaps even food that might be best to avoid, at least initially :-) Anyway, just a few ideas. Looking forward to future videos.

Thanks so much @northice! I'd come in the Spring this time if you've already been in the Fall. It's not polluted every day, but there can be strings of 3-4 days in a row of bad pollution just so you know. People wear masks when exercising, but most Koreans don't wear them when just walking around outside (less than 50% I'd say). Thanks a lot for the video ideas too! I saved them as potential topics for the future, and I'm in the middle of filming a "Where to Stay in Seoul" video where I've been filming all the different neighbourhoods to show how they actually are instead of just describing them to the camera, so hopefully it turns out okay! Doing them in other cities is definitely something we can tackle in the future too. Hope all is well, and take care!

hello ! thanks so much for all your videos. It's really helpful. I plan on coming in September. I was wondering if there is any specific event/activity to not miss during this month ? Thanks !
@lostthenfound
@lostthenfound 4 ай бұрын
Thanks so much @xclanorigins really glad that the information was helpful! In September the biggest event is Chuseok which is like Korean Thanksgiving. During the holidays from the 16-18 all of the admissions to the palaces will be free (at least they are traditionally), so if you are around then I would go during those days. I can't think of anything else off the top of my head, but here are some festivals going around the country that you could check out if interested: english.visitkorea.or.kr/svc/contents/infoHtmlView.do?vcontsId=136567

Hello love your videos. Will be coming to Korea the end of the year for work and was wondering is it best to bring a bike or buy one in Korea?
@lostthenfound
@lostthenfound 9 ай бұрын
Hi there @everestmims8770 thanks a lot! You can easily buy a bike here off of Karrot Market (second hand buying/selling app) from people who live nearby ($200+ for something decent), or buy brand new from a Trek/Giant dealer. I would only bring your own bike if you can't live without it and plan staying here long term.

I love your channel. Why don't you guys start a Korean travel concierge service for foreigners? Most Korea travel videos are made by foreigners. But you two have inside knowledge of traveling Korea. Use Canadian connection. Nobody wants to plan trip logistics in a foreign country. You can customize trips for cycling, hiking, food, etc, all the things you guys are already passionate about. Just an idea.

Perfect timing, as we are travelling to Korea in October! Curious about the other videos in the series as well, will they come out in September? Also: what is easiest way to travel to the starts of hikes in more remote areas?
@lostthenfound
@lostthenfound 9 ай бұрын
Oh great @JoostVanHillo! October is the absolute best time to come in my opinion! The next video will be released on September 24 about where to stay in Seoul, as these videos take me a long time to make (I'm traveling around Seoul every day filming right now). If you're trying to go to a really remote hike, it would be best to: 1) Use Naver Maps to find out exactly what transportation goes there. From Seoul, you will usually take an intercity bus (kobus.co.kr) or train (letskorail.com) to the nearest bus terminal or train station to the hiking trail. 2) Once at the bus/train station, you will probably have to take another bus to get there. It will most likely be a village bus (마을버스) which doesn’t come very frequently. You can check the Bus Info on Naver Maps in advance how often they come. You can check the exact schedule online usually but it involves a lot of searching in Korean unfortunately. You can try searching “(bus #) 버스 시간표” in Korean if you want to try. Or else search in English and a travel blog might pop up or something that’s helpful. 3) If the village bus doesn’t come often enough, you will have to take a taxi. There will almost always be a taxi stand nearby a bus terminal or train station. Use Kakao Taxi app if there isn’t one.
