Thanks for the info. I’m 3 months pp. This was my second emergency c-section (unsuccessful vbac attempt). My obgyn told me not to get pregnant for a year after a c-section. She said that the body needs that time to fully heal and getting pregnant sooner increases the risk of placenta accreta as the placenta can grow into the still healing scar tissue. She said this condition requires a hysterectomy at the time of delivery which is dangerous as the uterus has a lot of blood flowing to it at that time to support the baby. She said sometimes patients lose a lot of blood and end up in the ICU. I’m definitely going to wait even though I’d love to get pregnant again right now, I know that waiting is in the best interest of myself and the family I already have.

I got pregnant 8 months after my C-section, long story that one! But had a healthy pregnancy and I’m 3 months PP now with our second! So they are 17 months apart haha. My scar was completely healed and I honestly think it helped to have the scar tissue stretched out during my 2nd pregnancy to help with any scar build up. But of course, we still need time for our bodies and pelvic floor to heal. I did have more pubic pain, SPD, this time around bc I had them so close together. Planning to start pelvic floor PT soon! Been seeing the chiro for it too. We did make it a point to wait at least 6 months and thankfully it was a few months after that (the same month I got pregnant) that my cycle came back. Had a happy homebirth! 2nd baby was breech also! It was a much faster labor and such a beautiful experience. The hardest moment of my life other than recovering from the C-section but recovery this time was a breeze in comparison!!!! Best wishes to you and all the mamas out there! God Bless!

Also, I did breastfeed my first baby until he was a year old but after 6 months the LAM method does of course become less reliable and so my supply did slowly start to decrease around 10-11 months with him. That was the only thing that made me sad about getting pregnant so soon!
@mori.kurogawa7936
@mori.kurogawa7936 Ай бұрын
I think your doc did a bit of fear mongering. The risk is higher for the mentioned condition to occurr, but still unlikely. Also, hysterectomy is surely not necessary in all accreta cases, only in the most severe. The recommendation to wait for a year is wise, anyways, for various reasons. I'm 4 months pp and been thinking about the next one since baby's birth 😄 Not because I'm unhappy with this baby but because I' happy with this baby. If you'd get preggo earlier anyways, there is not need to worry too much about increased risks. In most cases the pregnancy will be normal.

I have exclusively breastfed since the beginning and got my period back 5 weeks after giving birth. And continued to have periods every month. Most of it is genetics, how your own mother’s body worked and how your unique body works too. I got pregnant again when my son was 12 months and am still breastfeeding him halfway into my pregnancy. All is going great but I do have to remind myself to drink LOTS of water and eat enough. I forget how much my body is doing.

I’m interested to see what happens this time around since I am 4.5 months pp after Baby 3, my successful VBAC who was born just 16 months after my section. I also EBF, but have gotten my period back 6-7 months pp both times - and gotten pregnant right after, each time. It’s interesting to see others’ experiences! I waited 18 months to get pregnant with my second, because I’m a rule follower. I’m surprised how often people deviate from this recommendation. I was lucky enough to get pregnant on the first try. I’m very glad I have this age gap between my kids. Now they’re almost 2.5 and nearly 10 weeks old. My second has acclimated very well, and is great at independent play while breastfeeding, and she’s old enough to express her needs very well now. My pregnancy and birth were luckily very smooth, though pregnancy exhaustion was a challenge.

@rachelle2227

@@bleechrcreechrr I would put a value on different aspect of getting pregnant sooner versus waiting. Like how much are you worried about whatever risks, or if it took a long time to get pregnant, how badly you want another child. Also assign a value to how difficult it may be to ovulate again. Perhaps you’d want to switch your baby to formula so you could start ovulating sooner to raise the chances of getting pregnant earlier. What’s the risk of an earlier pregnancy, and how much are you willing to sacrifice now? Can you work really hard on getting more fit and healthy now so your pregnancy would be more healthy if you got pregnant sooner? Particularly focus on meat/protein. Maybe strength training if you aren’t already. What can you do to make an earlier pregnancy more healthy for you.

She really took to solids though and started sleeping longer stretches more consistently at night around 9 months so I think that may have contributed to my cycle returning! I had some issues with secondary infertility. Even though I’m under 30. Getting pregnant with my first was super easy, then we got pregnant the DAY I finished weaning my son at 19 months. But that ended up being an ectopic pregnancy that was misdiagnosed as a miscarriage and ended up rupturing a tube at 11.5wks. Now I’m finally about to have my second baby 4 years postpartum with my first. We would like to have more, but my AMH is low (was just under 1 - more on par with a 40 year old than someone in their late 20’s). I find it interesting that both me and my mom had ectopic pregnancies after 18 months of breastfeeding and have wondered if it’s a genetic nutrient issue or something. Not sure if your course would be deep enough for someone with a more complex case like mine, or do you know of somone that could help me prepare for a getting pregnant again a year or so postpartum? This is good info, what about after a VBAC? How is the ideal time to wait? I am debating right now on getting another c-section or another VBAC because of the tiredness I have. I’m thinking I didn’t wait enough time. I had an emergency c-section then 8 month pp got pregnant then thank God got a VBAC and I got pregnant again 19 months pp after that, but still struggling with rest, I get to tired to quickly. Now I don’t know what choice to make. What would be safer.
@kimberlymoriarity
@kimberlymoriarity Ай бұрын
Not sure if applicable but you could look into antenatal depression depending on how tired you are and other possible symptoms. I think recommended timelines after VBAC are the same as a normal vaginal birth but I'm not sure. It sounds like you waited long enough personally, and the tiredness could just be from the pregnancy (I'm told symptoms hit differently every time). If I were you I would personally go for another VBAC, especially with two toddlers (couldn't imagine being out for 6 weeks in that situation). But I'm not you, and not a doctor, so this might be better discussed with them?

@@kimberlymoriarity that’s for sure every pregnancy is different, thanks for answering!! I’ve been feeling like this since I had the VBAC and now with pregnancy. I fee I can’t have enough rest I attributed it to pp but it never got better. It kind of did when my 2 kids started to sleep better through the night, but it’s when I got pregnant this time so I can’t really tell because I didn’t really had a “break”. It’s just hard to make a choice because I don’t know from where this fatigue comes. My Dr said I have to choose, he doesn’t really seem concerned about it. My thing is I have to decide and make me very nervous since I don’t know what would be best, For baby and for myself. I kind of want to do another VBAC it’s just I don’t want to regret it.

When I did “get my cycle back” while exclusively breastfeeding (around the 1 year mark), I was having my period every 28 days like I always had pre-pregnancy but couldn’t conceive. When I started tracking my ovulation, I found out that even though I was having my regular cycle, I wasn’t ovulating until day 23, which is probably what was contributing to us not being able to conceive since late ovulation generally results in not as good quality eggs and also doesn’t leave enough time for implantation to occur before the uterine lining is shed.

Haha ya no I get my PPP about 8/9 weeks postpartum and exclusively have breastfed both kids, I get it from my Mom 😅 I got pregnant at 9.5 weeks postpartum (after my first postpartum period returned) after my second child was born which sadly ended in a miscarriage but am so thankful to have two healthy kiddos and no I don’t think I was mentally in a place to deal with another kiddo that soon I’m relieved and have a peace I’ll meet that baby again one day 🤍

I got pregnant before my first turned one. After I had her I felt completely depleted. My breast milk didn’t come in like my first and even tasted salty. I’ve struggled on and off with hormones for 3 years now. Including being on SSRI and progesterone cream just to get by. Wondering if I’ll be able to have any more now! ☹️

What are your thoughts for those of us in advanced maternal age? I'd imagine the same rules apply, but what if we're also fighting time? I will be 4 months shy of 42 when I deliver in September...I've always wanted two, but unsure what is going to be best and possible.
@agentorange153
@agentorange153 Ай бұрын
At that age, it will probably take at least a few tries to conceive, so you can start trying as soon as you're healed down there, no problem!

I would focus on getting physically and mentally ready again as quickly as possible, so exercise carefully during this pregnancy to try to keep your core as strong as possible , and as soon as your dr gives you the go-ahead to exercise postpartum. Also make nutrition, sleep, and adequate sunshine (for vitamin d) priorities to avoid being depleted and help egg quality, as that's important in your 40s. Then hopefully you'll be feeling ready sooner pp, and you could consider mixed feeding (giving some formula feeds to increase the time between breastfeeds) to encourage your cycle back quicker.

As far as nutrition is concerned, veggies are the most important, especially the green leafy ones!

I am hoping for something like this ... what do you think encouraged it? Did you sleep in same room / feed to sleep? I heard lots of nutrients tells body there's enough food around to support another pregnancy, so this could be an option lol, eat well.

First period around 6 months pp is the AVERAGE. All women are different. And yes, usually ovulation occurs two weeks before your first period, although some women have an anovulatory cycle that first time.

@@jessbfoster I don’t think anything really encouraged it. I wasn’t trying, and actually my libido had been way down leading up to it. The one thing I can think of is I made no attempt to lose any weight postpartum, and I eat when I’m hungry 🤷🏼‍♀️

@sarahwiener8171 generally they say 6 months so for you it worked for half the time. And it's also not just exclusively bf, it's bf every 4 hrs during the day and at least every 6 hrs at night, every day. It's a difficult schedule to maintain

For a video that looks (from the title) to be about trying to conceive after PREGNANCY, I was disappointed to find that it was only about trying to conceive after GIVING BIRTH. Many of us who are trying to conceive after a pregnancy never gave birth. We had chemical pregnancies, early miscarriages, molar pregnancies, and/or ectopic pregnancies, and we have similar questions too. If you can't fix the video, I would very much appreciate it if you could at least fix the title to reflect what you're actually talking about. I just hate it so much when people equate pregnancy with giving birth when in my experience, it's been anything but.

I'm sorry for your loss(es). 💔 When I had my D&C I was told to wait at least 6 weeks; I got pregnant again 3 months after. I think it's different if you had misoprostal though, due to the cancer risk. And I know nothing about the timeline for ectopic pregnancies.
