normally what i do is create performance tracks where i keep the adlibs and dubs but mute the main vocals... has always worked for me especially since i dont have a hype man to fill in those gaps of when im yelling and lose breath or want to make a gesture to the crowd...

just had my first ever performance yesterday. while it definitely was an experience and i had fun, there are definitely some things i gotta work on such as my projection😅. i wasn’t aware of how quiet i was to the point where you couldn’t really hear me on the stage cause it was hard to tell what my volume was with the music blasting right behind me. but hey it’s a work-in-progress, just like everything else, so i know what to do for the next show

I got invited back to perform and I’m so excited and I want to make this epic so thank you for these tips. I will add that you want to mainly face forward.. have your friends more centered so you feel comfortable projecting mostly forward. Of course pan left and right to appease the whole audience and also give eye contact! Get the crowd involved. Don’t talk to much. Don’t leave too many gaps of silence. And be you. Believe in yourself. You’re amazing!
@Chaotikmusic2 жыл бұрын
I definitely agree with you on the taking the vocals out and just keeping stuff like ad, libs and whatnot, I do a lot of dubs in my tracks though so I tend to leave the backing dub tracks in but I lower the volume on them just so I can get that layering that I wouldn't normally be able to get in a live setting.

I got my first performance coming up this weekend, im kinda nervous but very excited, i never thought of the vocals on the track thing, the songs i plan on performing are kinda fast with not alot of space in between bars n my breathing aint to the point i can go the entire verse in one go. Will this be a problem? Is it okay for me to have vocals on the track in circumstances like this?

@DoubtMeTech you must be from the era of true hiphop like myself lol. I'm getting ready for my first show on June 22nd and I can't decide how to do my showtrack. One piece of advice I was given was as a new artist it's better to perform over your full track because people hear what it really sounds like since they don't know your music as a new artist From that standpoint I can see how it's justified but it does seem lazy
@sorrowsoulmusic6 ай бұрын
@@IAMYUNGGAFdude i was thinking the same! i might have fucked up cause the setlist isnt due for another week yet i already sent it as just instrumentals. i want to do a true performance but also i dont want it to be shit.

While ur right and I feel like him saying that is his personal opinion, I gotta say I think thats just a thing with older hip hop head I just watch Kendrick preform at his K and friends show and he did all his tracks live but every other artist had a back track so at the end of the day is a personal choice I feel like 💯

Bro this aint the 90s no more. Who cares if you rap over vocals. It's about putting on a SHOW. I would much rather here you rap on your tracks than hear your voice without the auto tune.. hear you out of breath... see you struggle because you forgot your lyrics. I promise you it's not that big of a deal. If you ever been to rolling loud lollapalooza governors ball etc. I PROMISE YOU most ppl don't care 💯
@blackhole99913 Жыл бұрын
I guess if you're a purist you would care, but please understand that's ego not reality. And most artists today rap over their vocals. Do not be fooled.
