POINTS FROM VIDEO:- 1. Immerse urself in the language (spend as much time u can with the language, you'll make ways to get the language into ur system). 2. Music, films, podcasts, newspapers-- enjoyable activities. 3. U can imbibe the grammar naturally without formally pruning over the grammar 4. Speak with native speakers 5. Short 15 min ritual as well-- spending 10 mins to really study it everyday, before sleep, right after waking up is also effective. fun fact; language learning influences ur persona-identity when u speak it differently in ur own pitch and tone! This was such a fun video, thank you Ling!

@@Tepes1448 He was a bit rude about it but he does make a good point. The sentence "English is obsolete" is a straight up lie, but it's what he says after that that brings it back to reality. He says essentially when travelling people look at you different if you actually make the effort to speak their language. I think what he meant by the "obsolete" line was that in the past it was more difficult to learn 1 foreign language let alone many, but now many of those barriers are broken down. So *just* knowing english is what he's calling obsolete. It's conjecture but I don't think he's suggesting that the "proliferation of english" has met its end.

@@completelyunderstood yes i have the same opinion. Trying to understand the local population of the country you plan to visit show curiosity and respect about said country. But I don’t see English not being the common language of all countries, as you said, that phrase was a lie :)

Technically, a lot of that info that was said in the video is incorrect, and Thailand isn’t even close to the best country ever, while ppl are the exact opposite of nicest or chillest or any other compłiments, and Thai is not a logical language at all, whereas English is one of the most logical languages ever created with perfect letter combinations (good letter combinations are combinations of letters that go well 2gether and that were not combined at random and that follow very logical patterns) and pretty word endings and great pronunciation rules that make English words look and sound awesome and cool and professional etc, plus English is the easiest language ever created, whereas Thai is a category 7 language that isn’t easy to read and that doesn’t sound good because it doesn’t have good letter combinations, just as most other languages that exist, and only about one hundred languages are pretty, which should be learnt and spoken, while the languages that aren’t pretty shouldn’t be learnt or spoken - the best countries ever are the first wørld countries aka the Germanic countries, with Iceland and Norway and Denmark and The Faroe Islands and Netherlands being the best countries ever that also have five of the prettiest languages ever created that are as pretty as English, and, the prettiest languages ever created are Norse / Gothic / Icelandic / Faroese / English / Dutch / Norwegian / Danish / Welsh / Breton / Cornish, so I highly recommend learning them 2gether at the same time!

I would highly recommend learning the prettiest languages ever created Norse / Gothic / Icelandic / Faroese / English / Dutch / Norwegian / Danish / Welsh / Breton / Cornish 2gether as they are way too pretty not to know! Re learning methods, I recommend using the spaced repetition method and watching as many vocab videos as one can find at least thirty times over a period of two or three years and many videos on grammar etc multiple times on different days, and also memorizing many lyrics and analyzing / translating each new word that one doesn’t know yet, and always watching every video or movie with subtitles in the target languages, and typing a lot of sentences and words in the target languages to develop a muscle memory, and also, learning all the prettiest languages at the same time as it saves many years and is the most fun way to learn languages! I recommend learning at least thirty thousand base words in the prettiest languages ever created and at least ten thousand to fifteen thousand base words in the other pretty languages!

Some fun sentences / words in the heavenly languages Norse / Gothic / Icelandic / Dutch are... Ek heiti Freyja ok ek em at læra Norrænu því ek elski (elska) hana! (Dutch) Some of the prettiest words in Gothic are namo, þein, hunds, þatist, ik, weis, eis, qen, driusaima, wairþan, ains, sinteina, nist, imma, twais, eisarn, swikn, uhteigo, brunna, faíraþro etc! (The words in these heavenly languages are just so pretty and so poetic and so cool, they are true works of art, so I definitely wish I had learnt them in childhood, and I highly recommend learning them all together, as they are way too pretty not to know and so magical, as pretty as Danish and English and Norwegian and Faroese and Welsh and Breton and Cornish and Forn Svenska!)

BS. I don’t believe for a second that all of these people are natively fluent in 9+ languages. They may be able to have basic conversations on the street, but to call yourself fluent is ridiculous.

Totally possible. But it takes years. You can learn any language to a solid level where you can spend a bunch of time without practice and yet not be that much rusty. That's my case in English and Spanish. I've improving my french and recently started Italian. The problem about speaking a bunch of languages is that you will forget a bunch of words as well, including basic ones
@Cameron.Hubberstey
@Cameron.Hubberstey Ай бұрын
@franciscoorantes675 I never mix Italian into Spanish but my Spanish often seeps into my Italian. But that's simply because I haven't put in the effort to learn Italian grammar, nor have I put a massive emphasis on drilling in vocab, unlike Spanish. If I had spent an equal amount of time with both, I wouldn't mix them at all ^^'
