I’ve used both I’m a drywall finisher and I work in the union and beat them up pretty bad , rigid is better hands down in every aspect , more spacious too . If they swapped prices I would still get the rigid all day , I’ve had mine for over 6 years when they barely launched them and used them in extreme conditions and never had a problem. I tried to switch to Milwaukee but it didn’t compare ( and I am a huge Milwaukee fan , I have a fuel m18drill , fuel m18 impact , 200$ speaker , measuring tape , roto zip, staple gun, m18 rover led light , and mini fan . practically all I use is Milwaukee but I’m sorry this box just didn’t do it for me . Rigid takes the cake on this one ☝🏼 and also Milwaukee’s flip drywall cutting knife isn’t that great I prefer the husky one , just throwing it out there lol

I'm an architect and when I am on a jobsite I see a lot of the various subs using these types of boxes all the time, and they take a lot of abuse. I see a lot of Dewalt, Rigid, and Husky boxes in various combinations. I'm not trying to dispute your claim that they are light duty homeowner small project boxes, just letting you know what I see. I have never seen a Milwaukee Packout on a job and when I ask the guys about it, they say that they are too expensive.

I consult on commercial construction sites across the USA and can agree with what you see. I ended up getting the Rigid for home based on the worker's comments. The Milwaukee is another Techtronic brand now and while the boxes look good, their tools have slid since the Techtronic purchase. Remember this is the same company that owns ryobi, hoover, and dirt devil.....(insert your sucks joke) Many of these plastic storage systems are made by Keter in Israel and are pretty good quality. The Rigid stuff is also available through Keter outside the USA and I wouldn't be surprised if they make the DeWalt and Milwaukee systems under a licensing agreement. So while the Milwaukee system is pretty slick, it's just not worth the extra expense to professionals. Professionals on commercial sites are going to use steel locking job boxes typically. My work gear travels in 2 or 3 pelican boxes that I can fly with or ship. If they need to be rolled very far on rough ground, that's when the foreman sends over the apprentice.

I saw my first packout system at a jobsite. It belonged to the installers of Getinge washer/disinfectors for hospitals. Considering the final sale price was over $100k, i guess their installers can afford milwaukee!

I use the ridgid system(called AEG downunder) for everyday commercial usage, over all kinds of muddy, filthy, rocky jobsite terrain. Its marketed here in NZ for proper trades people and not for home tool box use. It works very well for me. The Milwaukee stuff is nice but just exorbitantly more expensive for what is essentially the same thing.

Ridged bottom box - You failed to disclose that it offers the option to remove the hand tool holder that will allow more space. And you kinda undermined the Ridgid by displaying the Packout clear box, meanwhile Ridgid offers the same. Love the Pack Out box, but in my opinion, it’s over priced. I have that Ridgid loaded with tools (organized very well), loading on and off the truck, & rolling in and out of job sites 5 - 6 days a week for 2 years. Ridgid box is strong. All 3 boxes cost me $99.00 special offer at HD. I believe the point of someone purchasing this type of box is not only about mobility, and organization. It’s about keeping your tools safe from water and dirt when the boxes are closed. Both Ridgid and Milwaukee offer the same functionality.

The company I work for has a few of the ridgid sets and I personally have a set of the ridgids plus an extra of the small boxes. I’m a professional carpenter. I use these boxes everyday and have put them through their paces for the past six months. They are very tough and haven’t let me down in any way. They do a great job of keeping my tools organized. The small and medium boxes fit under my tonneau cover stacked together. I personally see no reason to spend a lot of extra money on the Milwaukee set when the ridgid do such a great job. I’d also like to point out that I don’t run ridgid tools, and I’m not biased towards them. Just really happy with their boxes.

The bias doesn't bother me as much as the virtue signaling in the beginning: "Look at MEEEE! I'm donating my old nasty shoes to THE HOMELESS people." What a goddam hero.. He mentions the price difference at the very end - he's comparing apples to oranges. At least I got to see the inside of the Ridgid which is what I wanted to see. Why TF would I want to pay contractor prices for a tool box if I'm not a contractor? lol BTW I'm a Milwaukee fan and have some expensive Milwaukee power tools and you might even say I'm a Milwaukee fanboy. Doesn't mean I need to pay to get the Premium stuff for everything I buy. A tool (and toolbox) must fit the need. No offense to the boot guy. Consider it constructive criticism.

Wow thought this should be on porn hub because this was basically a 30 minute bj to Milwaukee. You have some valid points about both tool box systems but the Milwaukee is more than twice the price, $280 vs $130, so yes it will have more pros. But from the start of the video you were bias to Milwaukee, you had the Pack out loaded up with all you tools and still had the tags on the Ridgid ready to return it. And the Ridgid does have their lifetime warranty so if something would happen to it you can get a replacement.

Thank you for the informative review. Home Depot currently sells four different versions of these mobile storage systems: DeWalt Tough System, Milwaukee Packout, Husky Tool Connect, and the Ridgid Pro Mobile. Of these four, I believe the DeWalt and Ridgid provide the best value for the cost. During non holiday times both are around $150. Right now during the holiday season, both are less than $100 as three piece kits. The Milwaukee is currently $199 (holiday pricing), but is regularly a WHOPPING $279! The Husky is normally the cheapest year round ($79), but after owning it for several months, even the Ridgid is significantly better. The Ridgid, Husky, and Milwaukee are all marked "Made in Israel" and I assume are all made by Keter; but at various quality control standards depending on what "brand" is being marked on the box. Both Ridgid and Milwaukee are owned by the same company, along with Ryobi. While the Milwaukee is a quality "pro" product, when you have other systems to compete with at the same store, it is not quality that is worth $279 (regular pricing). DeWalt Tough System 2.0 is coming out soon, and it will be interesting to see if Milwaukee sticks to the $279 pricing to remain competitive.

When I install a system I have my truck next to me using these boxes, there is nothing wrong with the rigid or the Milwaukee both are very useful, for me it was the price but as far as the durability goes I believe they’re pretty much equal. I bought the rigid fourpiece system, A lot of the guys I work with either have the rigid or the Milwaukee on the trucks we all use them a lot of tradesmen have switched over to these rolling pack outs, it all breaks down to how much money you wanna spend but these boxes are a godsend to the tradesmen

I too have the rigid system. Well mines actually badged MAGNUSSON here in the UK. Also available with KETER label. Best tool storage I've bought. Replaced the Bosch lboxxs I had which were rubbish. Correct me if I'm wrong but the Milwaukee will be a nightmare to keep clean with all those books and crannies in the design. Also if the recesses in the design allow the locking system to function then any debris in them will soon be an issue.

I’ve used both extensively and prefer the rigid. I sold the Milwaukee’s and bought more rigid boxes. The rigid also makes a clear organizer that is phenomenal. Furthermore, you can order foam kits for the small rigid box and use them for gun cases. If you need more room, you can pop out the top panel on that small box and it will give you a couple more inches of height. That is especially nice if you’re going to make a gun case out of it. I’ve never had an issue with moisture getting in there and it’s been in the back of my truck for quite a while. The Milwaukee is definitely prettier but taking price and functionality into account, I Will take the rigid every day of the week. Especially that clear organizer. Great for gun parts and ammo when going out for a day of shooting. Of course, I also use them for all of my tools but just pointing out that they are quite versatile. To each their own

I'm a sub contractor who uses Rigid commercially, they work just fine. They're not the best, and after 5 years of wear, they certainly lose their (ironically) rigidity. The sliding handle retracts much worse with wear, the plastic begins to fade. I've been considering the packout tool boxes, one to just see how well the versatility of this is, and two, to see if paying double makes it worth while.

If rigid had more options for upgrading and adding on it would help them out significantly.. I mean why can’t you find the longer compartment inserts sold separately?!? Both rigid and Milwaukee would benefit from sold separately insert options.. that’s why we are seeing people make their own on 3D printers.. also people want table top attachments for miter saws and so on. To comment on your video no those clips for the rigid are made for locks and I use them all the time and they work great. I’m huge into Milwaukee m12 and m18 and got the rigid stack before Milwaukee came out(2 or 3 years ago?) I have to say it.. nothing at all has broken on any of my rigid boxes and I’ve been on 50 plus job sites with it.. been up stairs and down stairs.. they are solid too.. I do agree Milwaukee’s is better but I’ve never seen a rigid stack with anything broken on it. It’s not just for the diy and residential.

Appreciate the informative review! I don't think you mentioned the locking bar that comes with Ridgid, your not supposed to lock the latches as shown in the video. I agree that Milwaukee is better, but to me the differences are rather marginal. Ridgid also has the LSA so if those side locking latches break from wear and tear, it just means a new tool box for me. For that matter, if anything breaks on it, I'll get a free replacement (in theory at least). IMO at the huge price difference, Ridgid seems the way to go, but even if the prices were close, the LSA still make me prefer Ridgid.

Where he lost the Milwaukee sales pitch was complaining about Rigid's handle being too small. Yet, it was wider than his hand. A too wide handle has no benefit except it is wider. I own the Rigid system, it is great. I am a mechanic so my tool needs are different from carpentry type trades. I use my system for mobile jobs like brakes, water pump, radiator ect. So, the tools I need, are not the same on every job. Large open cavities are better for me. As a carpenter, once you load your pack out, it pretty much stays that way. Being able to segment the compartments and adding foam would not be a benefit for me. I paid about $100 for the 3 case rigid system. I added the organizer case and crate. (about $140 all in) If you are in a carpentry type trade anything other than pack out is a waste of money. But, if you are like me and almost never need the same tools twice, Rigid is the way to go and cheaper.

The internal size is VERY close with a MUCH larger exterior for the Mil. You also have to consider the price. Rigid on the lowest sale is $70-100. Mil is at least 150. If one is a pro with a daily use, sure get the Mil, for what you said in the start...Rigid is perfectly priced. I would get the DEwalt Touchsystem 2.0

Milwaukee boxes are great, but the Rigid line is a bargain. Rigid is made by Keter, who has a long history making professional cases. I got mine for about $80 before the Milwaukees were released. They're only about $100 now. They've been used & abused for over 5 years, at industrial & outdoor job sites. They've held up remarkably well. They seal out moisture, sand & dust as good as when they were new. I'd have no problem spending extra to get the versatility of the Milwaukee setup, & I like the extra organization it allows. I use a lot of Milwaukee tools, & love their engineering. But the Rigid has proven to be unbelievably strong, & if you have a lot of larger tools, or work at messy sites, is a better option than Milwaukee. If you can't afford Milwaukee, you're not getting a lower quality product in Rigid.

I have the Rigid setup. It's completely functional, although the handle and wheels could be better. Yeah, I can see that the Milwaukee setup is a little better designed, and perhaps more durable, but not worth double the price. The feature I like about the Milwaukee, aside from the handle and wheels, is the hinged lid on the base module. On the other hand, I don't see the point of the aluminum reinforced corners on the Milwaukee. Seems like they might be prone to denting. Just get rid of them and expand the internal capacity.

I have both and like you said you're a milukaee fan. The ridgid setup you show I picked up for $129 plus tax. It's a nice set of boxes. The milukaee packout you show usually goes for $279 plus tax. Is the milukaee a more premium product? Yes. Is the ridgid bad? Not at all. I have the plumbing tools in the ridgid and electricians in the milukaee. Also what looks like a solid system is the Dewalt tough system 2.0 which is due out in 2020.

Couldn't disagree more. The only thing I like better about the Milwaukee is the wheels and dolly. Rigids boxes are great and I own No rigid power tools , Only Rigid pipe wrenches ,etc. Take the names off these boxes and look at then analyze them . To me the Milwaukee red and black boxes look like something that would be a makeup and hair and nail polish box at a women's fashion show. The plastic is lighter and flimsier but its strong enough for most things. I just think the Dewalt and Rigid boxes are heavier duty and more usable. The Rigid comes with a long metal bar that slides thru and locks them all together also. (yours must not have) I like the Rigid for rolling thru small doors etc. I like the fold out large metal rod side handles and locking system. I like the center handles better for carrying the Milwaukee center handle is weird and too tall to me. But it works. The dolly and wheels are much nicer on the Milwaukee, However the wheels completely intrude into the bottom box of the Milwaukee severely limiting its space. The thin aluminum tubing on the corners is snazzy but again, it takes away from box space and has very little strength except vertically. Its pretty but not as heavy duty and usable to me. I would buy the De Walt or Rigid any day over the red Hong Kong TTI Boxes.

In Canada, both units are significantly more cash; purchased the Rigid system as a Christmas gift for my step-son & he loves it. He's just starting to build his tools & we wanted to give him a decent start. Once he is able to get a place with a garage, he'll most likely be like me & end up with a nice rolling tool cabinet (I have two 52" well stocked tool cabinets)

Craig Hennessey I have the rigid and was thinking about buying the Milwaukee as well tell I seen the price. Also rigid has added a couple more things to theirs like a basket and a screw organization section. I’ll probably buy those and one more complete setup as well cause I’m always buying tools being a handyman. I use it daily for 3 years in and out of the truck. Holds up fine, he will like it.

One of many points I have to address... He, The Boot Guy, keeps saying that Ridgid went cheap or overlooked (x, y & z, etc...), like he is ignorant to the fact that 1) Ridgid and Milwaukee aren’t different companies, 2) the Ridgid pack was released years ago, 3) the Milwaukee R&D team has been researching the Ridgid gear this whole time. I’m going to drop my perspective on these brands head to head!

I found the handle on the rigid to be EXTRA flimsy. The rigid is only rated for 60lbs. The husky which has a much better handle and a 100lb capacity is cheaper than rigid. The Milwaukee is rated 250lbs but people have problems w wheels breaking. The Milwaukee is built superior for sure but for the price it’s not 3x better than the husky. I’d rather buy 3 husky connect boxes and still have money left over rather than just a single pack out. If you buy 3 husky connects you have 9 damn boxes.

The thing these all have in common is that none have any real way of protecting your tools. If you have a circular saw in your big box for example, everything else in the box will lean and bang against it the whole time which could bend the shoe etc. Given the fact that none really divide or protect your tools very well, I see no reason to spend $200 on any. Ridgid wins since they all are lacking equally imho
@mastermetalshredder

falchulk I am thinking of making plywood inserts for the large box that would partition things away from each other. One will have the ability to orient the circ saw shoe down and have a groove for the lower guard, and all the others will be built around it and I even thought of making holes and grooves for other misc but we’ll see. Too bad these companies didn’t plan for these issues and we have to make heavy plywood dividers. Kaisen foam just wouldn’t work as a solution for this kind of thing. Best of luck my friend

I have and totally use both systems. I tried my best to love the Ridgid boxes. After only one summer of use, they are hard pressed to stay stacked together. The snapping mechanisms on the sides come unattached very easy after easy to moderate use. I can barely even move them around as a stack. It's pretty terrible. The side clasp design on the bottom roller box is totally shitty, too. The Packout? Fuggedaboutit. They're badass. All of 'em. They are terribly easy to hack and mod too. Haven't gotten the crate yet but I will have it this weekend. The bias on this video I totally understand and think that it is totally deserved. I have always used Ridgid tools and boxes. The Packout turned me into a Ridgid guy. edit: I do absolutely love the shortest Ridgid toolbox (with the handle on the side) and use several of them as singular toolboxes. I'll give Ridgid that. It is a really durable box.
